X'yahma's eyes fluttered open at the dull aches he still felt. The healers in Sharlayan thought it to be a result of being exposed so totally to dynamis. But it meant that he was healing. Slowly, but surely. Loonh Gah shifted in the bed, bringing his attention to her sleeping face. Her bangs fell over her closed eyes and she breathed softly into his shoulder. Ignoring the tingling in the arm she laid on, he wrapped it around her back and to her waist, giving her stomach a gentle rub. The child within stirred, but not enough to disturb its mother.
It was strangely quiet in the Leveilleur's guest room. That meant that Ruha was still asleep. He really ought to leave his wife undisturbed. A bird's chirping caught his attention. First his ear turned towards the noise, and then his whole neck followed. The window as shut, but a vibrant blue bird stood on the windowsill, shooting him a quizzical look every few seconds.
"Is that you?" he whispered.
The bird nodded.
"Found your way here, have you? Good. It may not be how it was before, but there's much and more to see in the world. Why start with this place?
[I was looking for you,] Meteion's voice resonated within him. [I had hoped you would show me around where you call "home."]
X'yahma snorted. "I doubt I'd be much of a tour guide like this. Another time, perhaps." Meteion cocked her head. A soft whine came from the crib. His field of view was limited, but it seemed Ruha only stirred, nothing more. He looked back to Meteion to see her gazing at the toddler, cocking her head in apparent fascination. "That's my little girl, Ruha. She's my answer."
The bird chirped a reply.
"And not just her. But Loonh," he planted a kiss on the top of her head. She mumbled something in response. "And this one," he patted Loonh Gah's stomach again, hoping Meteion could see, "though it's a while longer before it arrives. I have no doubt I wouldn't be here now if it weren't for them." Loonh Gah's arm moved up, grasping at his chest. He felt the child kick hard against his hand, Loonh Gah moaned before trying to snuggle further into him. X'yahma smiled before looking at the bird again. "You can stay if you like. But stay discrete, okay?"
The bird shook its head. [Nobody would know I was ever here,] she messaged before disappearing from his sight. Loonh Gah groaned again as she squinted at him through lidded eyes. "Your child is restless."
He chuckled. "Of course, it's mine." He kissed her crown again. "Now, I hope you don't mind, but-" he slid his arm from underneath her, with surprising difficulty, "I can't feel a thing in this arm."
"I thought I heard you talking," she said, trying to find a new sleeping position on top of him.
"Just rattling off what we'll need for the return trip. Once you're up for traveling."
"Then write it down, I think you woke the child." She started to mumble.
"Get what rest you can." He couldn't make out next mumble, but it wasn't important. He was satisfied simply gazing upon his wife, seeing as he was stuck in bed. Though he dreaded the earful he was bound to get from Krile if she should chance upon the two sharing the bed. And then he heard small raps at his door.
