Steve’s heart has always been full of love.
First it was Bucky. Steve had loved Bucky for years, but never being able to reveal his feelings in fear of being killed.
Then the war started, and Steve met Peggy and Howard. His heart latching onto the both of them while still being attached to Bucky.
Loosing Bucky made Steve feel pain he had never felt before. But that feelings was unmatchable to the ache he felt in his heart when saying goodbye to Peggy, to Howard, to his everything, as his ship plunged into the ice.
Waking up nearly 70 years in the future, Steve didn’t know how to feel. He misses Howard, he misses Peggy, he misses Bucky. Steve tries not to break down everytime he’s reminded he has outlived the people his heart yearns for.
Finding out Peggy was still alive made Steve’s heart flutter. But upon meeting her, he remembers how much time had passed. His heart hurts.
Steve’s heart quickly latched onto Natasha not long after meeting her. Though Steve wouldn’t dare to say anything about it to her.
Tony made Steve feel strange. Tony made Steve’s heart flutter, but not in the same way Natasha did. Tony made Steve yearn more and more for Howard.
Sam, the cute war vet Steve met in DC. Steve fell hard and fast. Though the feelings Steve felt towards Sam made him fear. Steve knew it wasn’t 40s anymore, but the fear wouldn’t disappear, neither did his feelings for Sam.
Just seeing Bucky alive almost made Steve start sobbing in the middle of the street. Steve thought he lost Bucky for good, just seeing him made Steve’s heart flutter hard. He might not have Bucky with him, but knowing he was alive made Steve hope that one day he could maybe express his love for the man he’s loved for many, many years.
Bucky, Peggy, Howard, Natasha, Sam. Steve heart longs for them all.
