The party was one of the last places Gorou expected to find himself at, but he couldn't say no to Itto. Not that he thought his presence made a difference, Itto was busy playing Pokémon cards with a small group in a corner, and Gorou was left to fend for himself.

He was trying to stay in as small of an area as possible, but others needed his spots after a while, so he kept moving and moving. Eventually he found a spot by the snack table, and just looked around.

Gorou's eyes widened as his eyes landed on a dance circle. He didn't know how he hadn't noticed earlier, since Itto had also moved to hype the crowd up.

In the middle, currently performing, was the exchange student. She somehow looked even livelier than usual, which Gorou had always thought to be impossible. She was always smiling, and cheering everyone up, but as her body moved to the bouncy beat blasting through the speakers, she seemed even more… alive.

Gorou was captivated. He couldn't take his eyes off her even when he tried. Her flowing brunette hair, the way she put her energy into her moves, hell, even her eyes seemed made out of galaxies all of a sudden.

Could anyone be more hypnotizing?

As she finished her dance, many cheered. Gorou did too, but tried to be discreet about his admiration. He watched with glee as Itto threw the girl onto his shoulder to show her off. All she did was laugh, trying her best to balance herself. They looked like best friends, Gorou didn't understand how Itto managed that. All he knew is that he really, really wanted to make her laugh again.

In his thoughts, he didn't even notice Itto strutted over to him. Gorou almost yelped in surprise. He stared at the taller male with wide eyes, white as a ghost. Itto just laughed, as was usual of him.

"Someone was a bit…. Dare I, Arataki Itto, say it, excited." He cackled, and loud. Gorou was convinced everyone heard him over the ear shattering music. Gorou gave him a look of panic. How did HE know that? He's oblivious to EVERYTHING else?

"My bro, your tail was wagging faster than the speed of light!" Itto was roaring with laughter. He thought it was REALLY funny. Gorou not as much, his cheeks just turned pink out of embarrassment. He would’ve taken a step away, but due to Itto’s hold on him, he could only turn his head away.

"Did she notice?" He asked as his cheeks started to colour themselves a deeper red than before. He was starting to worry that she viewed him as a fool now. It was quite embarrassing to think that the girl he viewed as more beautiful than a pearl saw him looking stupid with his tail wagging while staring at her.

"Amber? Probably not, she's oblivious!" Itto was one to speak, but at least he was trying to be comforting. Gorou could relax, for a moment at least. “Besides,” Itto spoke, clearly trying to not laugh. “I bet she would’ve found it AAAAdoRABLE” He cheered, clearly trying to hype Gorou up a little, or so he took it. Gorou just murmured for him to be quieter whilst his head was getting clouded with thoughts of her.

She could’ve found him adorable?

Itto watched his best friend with a ginormous grin. He wasn’t stupid, or, maybe he was, but not when it came to the obvious, massive crush his friend was struggling with. He almost pitied the poor boy, but there was no time for pity, he needed to get to work. “Tell you what, buddy? I’m about to do a massive favour for you!” He exclaimed after a few minutes of Gorou fantasising. He could only laugh at his geniousness when Gorou snapped his head towards him.

Itto ruffled Gorou’s hair, and tried to semi-gently shove himself through the crowd and over to the dj, whom much to Gorou’s horror was one of Itto’s friends, a part of what they called “the Arataki gang”. Itto fist bumped the other male before reaching to whisper into his ear. The DJ gave a thumbs up before they performed some weird handshake. Itto then left to wait for a few moments.

As soon as the song changed, Itto strutted over to Amber, who was gushing about god knows what with Yoimiya. “Hello, ladies,” He greeted with an eyebrow wiggle. The girls greeted him back with the same energy, exactly what he was hoping for. “May I borrow ms. Amber for this song?” He asked, and tried to hint to Yoimiya that he was aggressively trying to pair her and Gorou.

He did not know if Yoimiya caught on, but she ended up nodding. “Oh Amber, you’re growing up so fast” She sobbed while wiping away fake tears before shoving her with Itto. Amber only laughed a bit nervously as she got dragged to the dance floor by Itto.

“What’s this for?” Amber asked as they vibed together. SHe didn’t mind, it was just confusing to her. She assumed he was trying to be nice, and make her feel included in the crowd. Itto on the other hand hadn’t planned a response, as all he was looking for was the perfect moment to execute his plan.

“Huh? Oh- Just thought you deserved to dance with the best dancer in the entire party” He said before flexing his arms a bit. And there it was. His perfect moment. Gorou was about to have his life changed. Itto showed off some dance moves as well, and definitely accidentally collided into Amber.

She was of course sent flying, and just as Itto had calculated, the next pair of Kazuha and Tomo had enough force in their movement to send her tumbling to the left of Itto. The feeling of victory was immaculate when he watched poor Amber crash into Gorou.

Gorou was quick to catch his balance to not let them both fall. He was staring at her in a bit of surprise, before realising to speak up. “Are you alright?” He asked, helping her stand up properly.

“Yes, all thanks to you,” Amber smiled sheepishly, feeling a bit embarrassed by the situation. She watched as Gorou’s tail started wagging, and politely held back a giggle.

“Ah that’s good, I’m sorry on Itto’s behalf, I bet he-”

“Gorou, right? Don’t worry too much about it, I’m not hurt, everything is okay,” Amber shushed him lightly, smiling ear to ear at the other one. He shut up immediately, and nodded. “It would’ve been a disaster if you weren’t here.”
