Work Text:
I remember the last high school dance we had.
The big prom, best night of the year, we all said.
I remember the DJ playing his music from the speakers, the light hitting my eyes, the excitement through the air.
Most importantly, I remember seeing everyone my age I ever met all in that one room, dancing happily.
Hard to believe it's been 20 years since that night.
After graduation, we all went our separate ways, but I still like to think about my old friends and smile.
Mark graduated first in our class. Then, he went to Harvard, where he graduated dead last. I guess our high school just wasn't that good.
Anna got married and had two beautiful daughters. And one fat ugly son.
As for Tord, well, the less said about him, the better.
Coco made good on her promise to hike the Appalachian trail. She remains missing to this day.
Catherine played D-1 soccer and won a national championship. She should've been happy, but she never got over Tord sleeping with her mom.
Tom eventually made it to the pros. Professional pornography. He's worked with all the greats. Even Tord.
As for Hellucard, he moved to America after graduation and married a miner. A coal miner. Who was 16 years old.
Larry followed his dreams. Unfortunately, he only dreamed about killing his grandparents.
Bingbong never stopped inventing things. Eventually, one of his inventions made him rich. Fentanyl. Maybe you've heard of it? Tord sure has.
Class sweethearts Eduardo and Laurel made a vow to lose their virginities that night. And both they did. To the DJ.
Some people have happier stories. Like Kim and Katya, who were both granted the first gay marriage licenses in the area. We all went to the wedding. Even Tord, who was there protesting with his hateful church.
Seven years later, Edd reached out to Tord to try to talk sense to him, and it worked. Tord stopped being homophobic, started dating Edd, and they both moved in together. Edd's body was never found.
Some of our friends surprised us.
Paul followed in his father's footsteps all the way to Norway, where he joined the Red Army.
How could we all forget about Patryck? I'm not sure how, but we all did. Just completely forgot about him, like he didn't exist.
Then there's Diwi, who left a huge mark on Broadway. After he threw himself off the roof of the winter garden theater while protesting.
Matt, he became a writer. His first book, "Friend of the devil, growing up with Tord Larson," was a best seller.
Time took us all in so many different directions. But for a brief moment, we were all there dancing the night away with our whole lives ahead of us.
Except for me.
I was murdered by Tord Larson, and my soul cannot cross over until he is brought to justice.
I love the past.
