Work Text:

You had no idea how it happened. One moment you were analysing a mission brief for a team of agents and the next you were in a relationship with the intimidating Moira O’Deorain. You had been crushing on her for months but you never expected her to return your feelings let alone act on them. When you found yourself pushed against a table in the lab with her tongue down your throat you certainly weren’t complaining. She was fierce and determined in every aspect of her life and your newly developed romantic liaison was no different. Moira insisted that she was not interested in becoming the new hot thing on the Overwatch gossip radar so she wanted you to keep the relationship secret.

You wanted nothing more than to tell the world that this magnificent woman was yours but you understood her reasoning and agreed to her terms. Since you were both stationed at headquarters and she was rarely sent out into the field you managed to spend a good amount of time together. You thought it was a miracle nobody had caught on to the relationship yet considering Moira made a point of crowding you against the lab walls at any given opportunity. You often had to avoid eye contact during meetings in order to concentrate on your work rather than drowning in her intense gaze. You sometimes daydreamed about being able to hold her hand in public but you were content to leave things as they were.

As a strategic analyst you spent most of your time preparing field agents for their missions and you enjoyed hanging out with them outside of work too. Moira was not the most sociable person and she once admitted in a moment of weakness that she preferred your company over all others. You felt privileged that you got to see the stern scientist in her softer moments when her touch lingered on your face and her smile was brighter than the sun. You had always enjoyed spending time with Moira and listening to her explaining the machinations of her latest experiments and now these moments came with added benefits.

“Athena, lock the doors,” Moira’s hard voice rang out through the laboratory as she stalked towards where you were lingering near the entrance. You smiled widely at her and she returned it with her signature cocky grin that always made you weak in the knees. She walked up to you and when you tilted your head to look up at her she rested her delicate fingers on your chin. “Hello there,” she purred and you flung your arms around her waist to hold her close. Her heterochromatic eyes were looking deeply into yours and you felt like your entire soul was laid bare under her gaze. You nuzzled into her hand and she let out a low chuckle. “I missed you,” you mumbled and you could feel a blush spreading across your cheeks.

Her scarred hand reached out to gently caress your neck and her long fingernails on your skin were making you shudder. She pulled you towards her and a moment later her soft lips descended on yours in a slow and tender kiss. You sighed into her mouth and she let out a content noise in the back of her throat as she moved against you. She was running her fingers through your hair and you revelled in the feeling of her strong but graceful fingers against your head. You moaned quietly and she deepened the kiss and her tongue demanded entrance which you happily allowed. In typical Moira fashion she dominated every aspect of the kiss and the way she licked into your mouth was making you see stars.

You let out a groan and the sound seemed to spur her on even more. She grabbed a fistful of your hair and pulled lightly until you moaned into her mouth. Your hands at her back were tightening in her shirt and you could feel her warm skin through the fabric. Moira was moving fiercely against you and you felt weak to the ministrations of her skillful tongue and silky lips. Your entire body was trembling and you were glad that she was holding you as you were uncertain your legs would support you. After what seemed an eternity and yet not long enough she finally pulled back and smirked at you trying to regain control of your breathing. Your heart was racing and your cheeks felt hot under her touch.

The effect this woman had on you was incredible and you felt overcome with affection and love for her. You buried your face in her chest to nuzzle into her neck and her arms came around your shoulders to hold you close. You stood there embracing each other for a long moment until Moira cleared her throat and untangled herself from you. “My apologies, darling, but I must return to my work.” She leaned down to leave a soft peck on your forehead before waving you over to the computer screens. “You are more than welcome to stay but I cannot be distracted,” she declared and you nodded with a wistful smile. She instructed Athena to unlock the doors and turned towards her latest experiments.

You enjoyed watching her work and you found the meticulous way she moved about the laboratory strangely soothing and comforting. You sat on one of the unused tables and took out your tablet to go over the latest mission reports. The silence was pleasant and you smiled every time Moira swore under her breath when things were not as she expected. There was a soft knock on the door and a moment later Angela Ziegler - aka Mercy - walked in with a warm smile on her face. You looked up from your tablet to greet her and her eyes lit up when her gaze fell on you. “Hello! So good to see you,” she exclaimed and you jumped off the table to lean into her outstretched arms for a hug.

Moira was watching the situation with narrowed eyes and turned towards Angela to ask coolly “To what do I owe the pleasure?” The blonde woman didn’t seem taken aback in the slightest and simply grinned at her as she explained her purpose. She was tasked with collecting samples for Commander Reyes and she also wanted to share her latest paper with the scientist. Moira nodded and excused herself to the storage room to select the appropriate specimens. Angela turned her eyes back on you and you started talking about your day and any adventures the new field agents had gotten up to.

“It’s almost as if they don’t understand what a support does,” she complained in her melodic voice and you laughed in response. She frowned at you and playfully boxed you in the side when you couldn’t stop giggling. “Sorry,” you gasped and her expression softened. “You are a menace,” she said without any malice in her voice and she was gazing fondly at you. Before you could reply Moira returned and the look on her face was downright murderous. You knew she wasn’t the biggest fan of Mercy but you had rarely seen her this upset with the healer. She brusquely shoved the vials in her arms and stared at her until she took the hint and quickly left the lab.

You glanced at Moira who seemed to be vibrating with tension and you carefully stroked her arm to calm her down. “What’s wrong, buttercup?” you asked quietly and you registered with relief that her features relaxed as soon as she looked at you. “Amadán [Fool],” she gritted out and you raised an eyebrow at her. “Not you,” she added quickly, “Our dear Dr. Ziegler.” You shook your head and sighed before motioning for her to sit down in one of the more comfortable chairs in the laboratory. You moved to the chair next to hers but she pulled you in her lap instead and you smiled at her need for physical reassurance.

“She is determined to have what is mine,” Moira grumbled and you rolled your eyes at her. “Stop being cryptic and tell me what’s upsetting you,” you demanded and she actually looked offended for a moment before letting out a huff and resting her head on yours. “She is flirting with you, quite brazenly I might add.” Her voice was hard but you could hear an undercurrent of anxiety and vulnerability. You leaned against her chest and took her hand to interlace your fingers before responding “You are the only one for me.” Her breath hitched at your confession and she lifted your intertwined hands to her mouth to kiss yours gently. “And to be entirely fair to Angela, she doesn’t know we’re dating,” you added in a teasing tone to which Moira only scoffed.

Now that Moira had pointed it out, it seemed obvious to you and you wondered how you had missed it all this time. Angela was going out of her way to spend time with you and while she was never sparse with compliments, you seemed to get a lot more than any Overwatch colleague. Every time you spoke to her in the hallway or any other public place you could practically feel Moira’s eyes staring a hole in the back of your head. She had not said anything since the one time in her lab but you noticed how she instantly tensed when Angela came into the room. You made sure to tell her that you were only interested in her whenever you had a moment alone but the green beast of jealousy had a large hold on her. You were friendly and accommodating and since you didn’t treat Angela any differently from the other teammates you didn’t see an issue. You did enjoy the extra attention Moira was giving you and your heart fluttered every time she pulled you close.

“May I join you?” Angela smiled at where you were hunched over your bowl in the shared canteen and you nodded politely. You asked her about her latest research findings and tried not to make a mess of yourself while eating. She was excitedly telling you about her most recent findings but her hand movements were more erratic than usual and you wondered if she was nervous about something. You laughed at her anecdote and she gave you a dreamy look that made you avert your eyes uncomfortably. You had no intention of leading her on so you inspected the ends of your fork instead.

Angela cleared her throat and you lifted your head to find her fidgeting with her napkin as she threw you a shy smile. “I wanted to ask you something,” she began and you raised an eyebrow at her. “Would you like to go out with me sometime? A restaurant would be nice.” She looked at you with such hope that it crushed your heart to have to turn her down. You took a deep breath and responded in the softest voice you could muster “You’re really great, Angela, but um, I actually have a girlfriend.” You gave her an apologetic smile and she returned it weakly. You could tell that she was heartbroken but evidently trying very hard to not let it show on her face.

“I’m happy for you. Do I get to know who the lucky lady is?” she asked with a curious grin and you let out a sigh of relief. You were glad to see that she was clearly still interested in remaining friends despite your rejection. You shuffled your feet nervously, not certain how to respond. You wanted to be honest with her but Moira had made it crystal clear that she didn’t want anyone to know about your involvement. You were about to explain to Angela that you couldn’t share this information with her when a familiar shadow fell over you. Moira was looming behind you and you gasped when she put her hands on your shoulders.

“I am.”

You turned around fast enough to give yourself whiplash and stared up at her with wide eyes and an open mouth. Angela made a curious noise behind you but you were too busy trying to figure out where the hell that change of heart came from. You got up to lessen the strain on your neck and looked directly into Moira’s determined eyes. “But I thought - “ you started but you were effectively silenced by the tall woman’s lips on yours. You instinctively responded to her touch and you completely forgot about your surroundings when her hot mouth opened and her tongue delved into yours. Her hands were on either side of your face and you could feel the tips of her fingernails digging into your neck and you started trembling slightly. She moved against you in a brutal pace as if to claim you as hers for everyone to see and you had no notion to complain.

When she finally pulled back your cheeks were flushed and when you heard hollering from a nearby table you remembered how very public the area was. You buried your face in her chest and she started stroking your hair in such a tender way it made tears well up in the corners of your eyes. You blinked them away and leaned around her to see who was hooting and shouting at you. At a table not far away you saw Lena, Winston, Gabriel and Jack laughing and staring at you with great interest. You suddenly felt awkward under the scrutiny but Moira stood tall and proud and possessively wrapped her arm around your shoulder. You were secretly pleased that your relationship was finally out in the open and you could deal with some embarrassment for that.

You watched Gabriel lean close to Jack who instantly started blushing furiously and you laughed when you heard him say “Called it. You owe me fifty bucks, big guy.”
