Work Text:

Misty wakes up underneath a swinging palm tree, a nice ocean breeze can be felt from her side. She looks around, and saw there was nothing but an entire ocean in the distance. The waves move to the beach, and the vast sea felt endless, except for the lone island that she was sitting on. Her eyes sort of burn when she tries to observe the sky, it was very clear, yet it felt...nostalgic. There was a light purple tone to the sun, and it felt like there was a dash of glitter everywhere she looks.

Misty brushed and ruffles her poofy hair, getting rid of any sand that was in it. There really wasn't anything to do on this island, I mean, it was such a small island with nothing but a single palm tree smack dab in the middle, and while it is pretty, thats all there really is to this island. How did she even get here anyways? Did she fall down into the ocean and washed up here? Or did something took her here? Its very hard to remember.

While Misty was lost in thought, she immediately snapped back to the present when she saw something move in the waters. She immediately shuffled over to the movement, wanting to see what was in the waters.

When she stared into the waters, Misty seems to have seen a weird...fish. It looked like a fish, but it had a giant...blade on it. She definitely knew it was not a saw fish, since Mary told her what they looked like, and this definitely doesn't look like one

Then, its head pops out. It looks like, a familiar face? It head looks like a chainsaw with eyes, and it had such a beautiful red ushanka, and even the eyes were such a pretty shade of emerald...and the rest was just a cream colored fish body. It was a very...interesting appearance, but it looked really cute, well maybe the chainsaw makes it look dangerous, but there was nothing to really fear about it.

"Oh, hey there." Oh cog, the fish can speak. "I didn't expect to see another face around here. You don't seem to look like a fish either, what your name?"

"Oh uh...." Misty did not expect this fish to talk, its such a disturbance to her, she took a long pause just to process what is going on. Where did this fish even come from? "...Misty. My name is Misty."

"Ah...such a lovely name." The fish swirls around. "Well, my name is Fish Revvington." That name sounds so familiar, but why? "You look really lonely, where did you come from, friend?" Misty pauses. "I-I don't even know actually. I just showed up here after...wow I don't even know what happened. I think I was standing on a dock?" Fish nods slightly. "Hmmm, well while you try and remember, lets go visit my friends. They should be in that shack back there." Wait, what shack-

Fish Revvington suddenly swims out of the water, and flies into the air, swishing his tail like he was still in the water. He flies past Misty, into what looks like the old wooden shack that suddenly appeared. Misty enters the shack along side Fish Revvington, not questioning the sudden appearance of the shack.

The inside of the shack was much bigger than what was shown outside. It looked like an apartment, a lovely familiar one. It had a few portraits on a small table, and a small kitchen on the other side, a big window can be seen on the left wall, with what looks like the vast ocean. This place has a bunch of glitter on the corners of the walls, with a much fader blue light that shines in this area.

"This...looks like my apartment." Misty looks around the room. It really was her apartment. It may look a but blurry, but It had all of the finer details as well. The trash can full of cheap oil cans in the corner, the fish plush on the floor that Mary gave her one time, the Bills on the table, and even...

Misty sees a portrait of what looks like a selfie of her, Mary, and....Chip. Oh, that was his name! He looked sort of bored though, could be because of the fact that he doesn't have a mouth he can express himself with, just a chainsaw. There was also that green guy that she believe is name spruce, he just seems to be hiding in the background, trying to sneak into the picture.

After staring at the image, she looks back to see Fish Revvington sitting at the other side of the small table, a big plate of uneaten fish n chips in the middle. He was talking to what looks like two other figures, a really big shrimp with a dark greenish blue helmet on, and a smaller white duck. The duck's face was strangely blurry, she can tell that the head is red, with what looks like a firefighter helmet with fire coming out of the top. Misty remembers this was one of Chips older friends he mentioned briefly, but it was hard for her to remember the finer details at this point. All three of them seems to be slightly bouncing to this song that has been playing for a while now.

"...so you sea, the ending means that sometimes you may sacrifice many things for someone, but they may never realize it ever in their life, even if you are long gone. Its as shrimple as that." The shrimp seems to be ranting about a story. Heh, it reminded her of Mary, he likes to deep dive into something that she likes, and rants it all to her. She always liked listening to her passions.

"Heh, I know how much you like your fairy tales." Fish Revvington looks back at Misty. "Oh, now that your here, let me introduce you to my two friends,. Misty, this is Scampi Anna, and this is Flint Quackpyre."

The two of them looks up at Misty. They give a little wave to her, Fish Revvington signaling to sit right next to him. Treating it like this is normal, Misty sits down.

"Well, now that most of us is here, I decided to try my hand on making this really famous dish called Fish N Chips. For some reason, they called french fries chips, so I accidentally got these BBQ chips instead of fries," Fish Revvington states, pointing at the big plate of fish n chips in the center. "Don't worry, there is plenty for everyone, and any left over, i will just give to Palm."

"Wait who's Palm?" Misty asks. Fish Revvington looks at her. "Oh, its the palm tree that you met back at the beach. Palm Campbell to be exact." Fish Revvington looks at wheres the door used to be, now nothing but glittery splotches. He doesn't move around for the most part, I mean he can, but it takes energy, so I will just give him the Fish N Chips later." Fish Revvington looks back at the big plate. "Alright everyone, dig in!"

Without missing a beat, mostly everyone was munching on the Fish N Chips. The dish is...actually really good. It was probably one of the best things Misty ever had. She focused on eating the Fish N Chips, tearing it down with sharp teeth. While Everyone was scarfing down the fish, Scampi noticeably grabbed nothing but the BBQ chips, and was slowly eating them.

"Whats wrong? Do you not like the fish?" Fish Revvington asked, rubbing his 'teeth' with a napkin. "You know I don't like eating fish," the shrimp says, slowly chipping away at the BBQ chips. This shrimp to Misty undoubtedly represents Mary. She never liked to eat fish because all that fish is dead fish, and knowing his love of marine, life she doesn't like the idea of harming the fish. As much as she understands the claim, there will always be fish that will be eaten anyways. Thats simply what every living thing was doing since the beginning of time, and that will never change.

While everyone else was talking, misty noticed that the table was much longer at the other side, the end of the table seemingly having less light than their side. Looking closely, there what seems to be a completely black square at the end, almost covering what looks like a normal figure. With the background and the others blurring, Misty slowly moves away, sneaking to the other side of the table. It felt like the closer she tries to get to the other side, the table gets longer. She hasn't even walked that far, and looking back, the others looked like blurry tiny dots.

Finally, Misty get close enough to the black square. "D O N T G E T C L O S E T O I T." The sudden phrase showing up in her vision startled her so badly. What...why can I not see it? The closer she gets to the square, the phrase keeps on showing, almost blurring her vision...until the black square was removed.

In the place, stood a familiar cog. The muscular build, the oil leaking from his helmet, the goggles that are a dark green, she recognized this cog as William. He stares at her, seemingly not in a good way.

"Oh, William!" Misty exclaimed. This cog was one of the first crushes that she had, all the way back from when she went to high school. She still has a crush on him to this day, so it was pretty surprising to see him here, especially blocked out by a black square. "I didn't know you were here as well, why don't we go back to the others. I have this friend that made these really good Fish N Chips, I think you would-"

Without letting her finish, William stood up and started leaving the table, entering what looks like a black void at the end of a hallway. Misty, noticing the sudden movement, was caught off guard. "Wha..." Misty tries following him. "William, where are you-"

"MISTY!" Hearing that call, she quickly turns her head to the other way, Fish Revvington was quickly swimming towards her with a worried look, with his friends on each side. "Don't follow him! Or else-" before he can say anything else, Misty was suddenly pushed by an invisible force, seemingly straight into the pitch black hallway.

...

What feels like floating for hours, Misty suddenly slams back onto the beach she was at the beginning of all of this. Everything was so dark, there was nothing but a black fog covering the ocean. She looks around, feeling paranoid. She felt so small, and damp, she was confused as to why this was all happening, failing to realize that the reason she feels so small was that she indeed changed appearances.

Suddenly, what looks like a bunch of black squares appears in the distance, each of them look faded, faintly revealing what they are supposed to be hiding. The figures of cogs and toons alike were seemingly walking on the water, towards the beach.

Misty looks frantically at all of them. These were the many figures that she had bad encounters with. She wanted to forget about all of them so badly, and now that lots of the squares are fading away, she is starting to remember all of these bad memories once again.

Panicked, she looks at the palm tree, the top of it seemingly looking safer than the bottom. She immediately started climbing up the tree, claws helping her get up faster than she could have ever guessed. She may be small, but she is still quick.

At the top of the palm tree she looks down at all of the now faded black squares, the cogs and toons now stepping on the small beach. They were getting closer to the palm tree. What was she supposed to do? They don't know what they are going to do when the reach the palm tree, would they snap it in half? If she remembers correctly, this palm tree was the tree Fish Revvington mention was named Palm Campbell. She can not let them harm the tree.

Misty curls up into a ball. She covers her eyes with her black paws, blocking her view of the now visible figures. If she can get rid of the black squares like she did with William, then maybe she can cover back up all of these figures with black squares as well. She can't make this same mistake again, she must make sure the next time she finds this place, she doesn't remember all of these terrible memories again. Maybe she should leave a message to keep it from happening again.

As she clenches her entire body trying to forget all of these terrible memories, wishing to just disappear so that they don't do anything to Palm...everything went black. It was complete silent. Suddenly she watches what looks like a memory. A memory of the real world.

It shows her sitting on that dock, the dock she liked to visit to calm down, the one place that toons kept on coming back to fight her. It showed her through the eyes, staring at an endless ocean. Suddenly, she turns around, and sees a group of toons, no features were present from them, probably because their features were blocked out.

It went like a normal fight that she would encounter. She mentions how she doesn't want to fight, they fight anyways, they do some gags now and there, she changes the weather...it was pretty much the same.

But, there was a difference. At one point, right in the middle of a weather transition, a toon threw a red object at her. It looked like...a red rectangle with light coming out of it. Somehow, a toon must of snuck in a piece of TNT, something that is not allowed in her fight. And just when she finally realized what was about to happen, it exploded, launching her into the ocean unconscious.

Just as that story ended, Misty was suddenly pushed back into the ocean, diving deep into it. She stayed motionless, slowly sinking into the deep waters. Looking at herself, she was completely invisible, with nothing but bubbles signaling that she was there. She feels nothing but...shock. That video has to be what happened before she was on that beach. Was she dead? Was all of this was an afterlife? Or was she just simply unconscious? Many questions rush through her head, she could be dying right now, and she may not be realizing it. Would anyone find her body? Or would it just sit at the bottom of the ocean, rusting away?

Then, she hears a voice. Looking around the waters, she sees a familiar fish in the distance, swimming closer to the bubbles. He looks bigger now that she finally thinks about it. "Misty, are you here?" Fish Revvington asks, gently moving his blade around until he feels something. Misty looks at him, still silent from the past events.

"Misty, if your there, I can't seem to see you." His voice snaps back to reality, remembering that she indeed look invisible last time she looked at herself. How does she even become visible again?

"I-" Right when Misty started talking, she suddenly feels herself becoming visible. She looks down at her hands, finally realizing her why everything looked so small. Her body was...some sort of black, scruffy, curly haired cat. There was small jagged yellow stripes on her tail, and feeling her face, it felt like her mouth was fixated to a smiling frown. She must of left her mask back at that shack.

"...you must of seen all of that bad stuff behind the squares haven't you?" Fish Revvington asks, gently patting her on the head. Misty silently nods. Feeling sort of ashamed for being so curious of them. If she just haven't gone to that other side of the table...

"Fish Revvington...did I die?" Misty looks at him, worry in her eyes. Fish Revvington stares back. "No, you haven't died. You should be waking up soon, actually." Hearing that, Misty sighed in relief. She looks back at the endless ocean, a long void stretching out to oblivion. It may look scary, but with Fish Revvington here, she doesn't feel that scared.

Fish Revvington looks at another direction "Misty, you must remember about what Mary told you that one time. Making friends may not be the easiest thing you can do, and you must remember that not everyone will treat you nice, some may even be worse than others."

Misty looks back at him. "you mean like..." Fish Revvington swims a little closer, giving her a small hug. "Yes, just like William. I know you loved that man, but this is one sided love. You remember what he did to you last time?" Oh yes she remembers, all of thoes multiple stalking allegation he tried to file at her brought back some bad memories. It was an embarrassing situation.

Fish Revvington looks in her eyes. "But you were still able to make some friends. Chip and Mary cares about you. especially Mary, you two seem to be the closest together. They would hate to see you be sad." Fish Revvington swims around Misty. "You may be even lucky to have another friend. Maybe if you ask chip, he can tell you about his old friend of his, he's shy just like you, and he even has his own friend, one of the strongest cogs in the company."

Just then, two other figures appeared in the distance, it was Scampi and Flint. "Oh there they are! We were worried about you! Are you ok?" Misty looks at them, relief in their eyes. "Yeah, i'm ok."

"Palm appreciates you protecting him from those awful cogs and toons," Scampi mentions. Misty looks at the shrimp, the shrimp looks bigger up close. "Oh really? Wow, wish I can thank him back for letting me climb on him."

"You can!" Flint mentions. "He's right behind you!"

"What?"

Misty turns around, and was surprised to see Palm Campbell right behind her. It was straight up just a palm tree floating behind her. She didn't know how she was supposed to react to that, but she was glad that Palm was here. She gives him a little pat on the trunk, as a way of saying thank you.

Fish Revvington looks in the distance. "Misty, your about to wake up, you may feel a strange feeling, like your falling down, but don't let that frighten you, alright? Everything is going to be ok."

Misty looks down. "Oh...well, will we meet each other again?" Misty asks, looking back at Fish Revvington. Looking at her, Fish Revvington and the others give her a hug, pushing her back toward the palm tree so that it feels like a group hug "Of course we'll meet again. we will always be here, it may take awhile to meet up again, but but we will see each other eventually." Misty looks at everyone, her frown becoming a wistful smile before closing her eyes and embracing this hug.

Suddenly, it felt as if she was being dragged into the waters, going deeper and deeper as she watches everyone become tiny dots from above. Soon, it felt like she was falling from the sky, her body feeling less like a cat and more like her original form, feeling her paws feel like hands again. As she drops faster. She sees what looks like a living room, a square room that has a couch right in the middle of it. Before feeling the impact, everything went dark.

...

Misty awakens on a couch. she doesn't feel good at all. Looking around, it looked like she was in someones house, she smells candles, the ones that smell like the ocean breeze. It was oh so silent. What even happened, did she just had a dream? It was a strange one, one where everyone was a bunch of animals.

Looking in the distance, she sees two figures, one was a green cog, he had a giant log in his mouth, and a stump on his head with an axe. The other figure, was...familiar. The figure looks at Misty, noticing that she is awake, walks and kneels down to get a closer look.

"Hey you, your finally awake." The figure mentions. "You were lucky that Spruce found you in that river to the Acorn acres playground. Who knew what would of happened to you if you stayed in the water." That red ushanka, the emerald eyes, the calming chainsaw on his face.. Misty puts one of her rusty hands on one of his cheeks, slowing caressing the side of his head. "Fish Revvington...is that you?"

"What."

Suddenly, the green cog in the distance erupts into laughter. "OUAHAHAHA! Did that lassie think yourge a fish?!" The cog is seen slamming his hands on his lap, after a while he leans back and puts one of his hands on his head. "Oooogh, eyegh think eyegh got a headache from all the laughing..."

The figure that was looking at Misty stares back, unamused. "Come on spruce, we don't know how long she has been in the water, she may be just a bit dazed." The cog looks back at Misty. "My name is Chip Revvington, do you remember me?" Misty stares back at him for a moment. "...oh yeah, you were a fish in my dream."

Misty looks around, and saw some pieces of paper and a pencil. She grabbed some and started to draw all of those figures she met in the dream: the fish, the shrimp, the duck, the palm tree, and finally herself, the fog based cat creature.

During that time, it seemed like Mary entered to check up on her, and she didn't seemed to notice him until the drawing was done, and she showed them all the funny little characters.

They don't exactly know how to react to these characters that seemed to be based off of them, but they did share a couple of laughs with each other. Although, chip did mention how one of them looks like Flint, and Misty did ask him if she can meet him one day. While, it was a strange time to ask, he may talk to his old friend of his and see if they can try to talk, it was less likely though due to his also shy nature.

While Chip and Spruce talked in the background, mary comes up to misty, stroking her messy hair. "An appointment for you is about to start in just an hour or so. You should be feeling better soon afterward. But for now, you should go back to sleep to save up energy."

Misty grabs Mary's hand and holds it close. It felt more comfortable than ever having Mary be near her again, especially with whatever happened that caused her to get this damaged. Mary lightly laughs under her breath, giving her a small little kissy before leaving to another room.

And so, misty naps once again.

Notes:

This story was mostly for practice, but I also wanted to make a story with Fish Revvington in it. I love that funny fish man. To be honest, I am quite proud of this one :D
