Chapter Text
“I took Zoey out the other day and she didn’t ask me to buy her anything, I find that super suspicious.” I said.
“Maybe she’s finally stopped taking advantage of your mon-” Liam stutters before Henry saves him by jumping in. “Think what Liam meant to say is she feels bad for wasting your time.”
“I don’t think that’s it, she’s never cared about that kind of thing before.” The boy stops to look at his best friend who seems to be zoned out. “What do you think, Jake?”
Jake was staring out the window absentmindedly, while I impatiently called his name in order to get his attention.
He finally snapped his head towards me as I narrowed my eyes in annoyance that he hadn’t paid any attention to anything I had said.
“Oh uh, yeah! I agree! You’re totally right, Drew!” Jake blurts out.
“You haven’t listened to a single word I’ve said, have you?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, sorry. I just was…zoned out for a second.” He confessed.
“Is your club really that important? I wouldn't waste your time thinking about those freaks.”
“Don’t call them that.” Jake said sternly, I rolled my eyes in response.
“Fine, whatever.” I mutter, I was too exhausted from everything that’s been going on with Zoey lately anyways.
“Lately it seems like you prefer their company over ours, I thought we were supposed to be your best friends.” I say sourly.
“When you put it like that, it makes you sound jealous.” Henry and Liam laugh as I feel my face heat up. I look down at my lunch tray to avoid looking at the three.
“Shut up. It’s just that you used to care enough to listen to me.” I say in my defense.
“You guys are my homies, of course I prefer you guys. I was just busy thinking about our English test later.” Jake awkwardly chuckles, making it obvious that he was lying to Drew.
“Sure, then I guess you won’t need to hang out with them after the competitions over? You’re gonna confess to Daisy and then you’ll leave the club, right?” I ask.
“Yeah, right. Only for Daisy.” Jake tells me.
“Not to kill the mood, but what if you get rejected?” Liam buts in.
“Have some faith in me, guys. And who would possibly reject someone who’s as talented as me?” Jake says, crossing his arms.
“With all that confidence, you’d be able to ask her out already.” Liam says to Jake.
Jake’s eyes widened as he saw what time it was on his phone. ”Shoot, forgot I had a club meeting. I’ll see you guys later!” Jake quickly got up with his tray and rushed off.
“Don’t look so blue, Drew. I know it must be sad to see your boy running off to the music freaks,” Henry says with a smirk forming on his face. “Instead of into your arms.” Henry and Liam snickered as I once again rolled my eyes.
“Ugh, did he have to leave me with you two idiots?” I say under my breath.
“Awh come on, Drew. You know you love us.” They say.
I rolled my eyes, I'm tired of Jake ditching me and leaving me alone with these two who could barely hold a decent conversation.
*After school at Drew’s house*
I managed to get Jake to come over and play Genshin with me. We walk up the stairs and make a left to enter my room. I turn on my PC located on my desk, and Jake pulls out his phone.
(idk how to write time skips without saying time skip lmao)
I sigh, leaning back into my chair. “How about we take a bit of a break and get some water?” I suggest, tired of Jake being way better than me.
“What time is it?” Jake asks. I glance down at my watch to see that the time is now 6:00 pm. “It’s 6.” I told him.
“Crap, I’m sorry, Drew. I have to go home now.” Jake frantically puts his shoes and jacket back on.
“Oh, okay.” I say. “Want me to walk you out?” I ask.
“No, I know my way around.” He tells me. I nod, “Okay.”
Jake walks downstairs, and I hear my phone buzz.
I unlock my phone and see six notifications informing me that my credit card has been used to make expensive purchases.
“Ugh, Zoey.” I roll my eyes, clearing my notifications. I turn off my phone and text Jake.
JAKE:
(Zoey is using my card again without my permission.)
(Why do you let her do that?)
(If I told her not to use it she’d throw a fit and probably break up with me.)
(If that’s what you want. It’s your money, Drew.)

*The next day at school*
“And did you see this necklace he bought me? It was like three hundred dollars, isn’t my Drewy Bear the best!?”
I rolled my eyes, pushing through the crowd of people surrounding Zoey. I couldn’t believe her, bragging about money that wasn’t even hers.
I pushed people out of my way, walking right up and calling her name to get her attention.
Her head snaps up and she looks at me with a sickeningly sweet smile. “Hey, sugarcube! I missed yo-”
I cut her off, rather annoyed. “Zoey. Do you have any idea how much of my money you spent yesterday? I got about six notifications saying you spent over eight hundred dollars.”
Zoey grabs my wrist and drags me into an empty hall.
“So what? I’m your girlfriend and I deserve to be treated like a princess.”
“Look, you can’t just keep spending my money without even asking me, even if you are my girlfriend.”
“What’s eight hundred dollars to you anyway? You’re hella rich, so it probably doesn’t even start to make a dent in your funds.”
“Zoey, I think we clearly need to start setting some boundaries.”
“Boundaries?! What the hell?”
“First, no more spending my money unless I am the one offering. Two, don’t lie about me buying you gifts. And lastly, you will take no for an answer.”
I watched as Zoey turned around to Lia, grabbing a heavy textbook and chucked it at me. The heavy hit caused my cheek to sting and would probably leave a small bruise later. “OW- WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!”
Zoey screamed in my face, walking off bitterly as Lia ran quickly after her.
God, that girl gets more insane every day. She irritates the hell out of me but there wasn’t much I could do to change how she acts.
I walk away, staring at the floor. I tried not to look at anyone around me as I tried to forget about Zoey and find something to distract me.
Or rather someone, my best friend. That is, if he wasn’t once again busy spending time with that club of freaks. All he ever does anymore is blow me off to spend time with them.
I still can’t seem to understand why he prefers their company over mine, what did they have that I didn’t? We were friends first.
I wasn’t sure where I was going but my mind was too clouded to process anything. Before I knew what was happening, I had been subconsciously following the sound of beautiful music and standing outside his freak club room.
I heard sounds of music, cracking the door open slightly.
I saw some of the freaks playing instruments but all that was going through my mind was Jake’s singing. He wasn’t lying when he said he had an angelic voice.
I felt my face burning as he looked so focused and passionate in this element. My throat burned as I watched him look happier than I’ve ever seen him with me.
Did singing with them really make him happier?
I’ve never seen him smile like that before, he said he was only doing this club to impress some girl but it was definitely more than that. If those freaks and their lame music made him happy, I guess I shouldn’t stand in his way.
I pull the club door close, stuffing my hands in my pockets and walking off in the opposite direction and deciding to hide out in the bathroom until class starts.
I managed to not get caught skipping because after all, I hadn’t even shown up to first period and my parents couldn’t care less about whether I made it to class or not. The bell rang and I walked quickly out of the building.
*At Drew’s home*
It’s about dinner time and my parents just left the house to have dinner with their work friends instead.
I wasn’t invited, not that I wanted to go anyways, all the kids my parents set me up with were boring and spoiled.
I was just laying around watching tv when my phone lit up and started buzzing. I had known it was Jake because his contact has its own ringtone.
I wasn’t at all in the mood to facetime. After all, I got bruised pretty badly and Jake is nosy enough to ask questions. I sigh and decide to accept his call anyway.
“Drew, why weren’t you in class today?” Jake asks. “Drew?” He questions.
“Can I come over?” I asked.
“Uh yeah, sure.” He says. I hang up to put my shoes on, and my black hoodie over my t-shirt. I considered texting my parents saying I had left but they were mostly busy anyway. I pull my hood over my head, walking out and locking the door with the set of keys in my pocket.
“Oh, it's raining.” I say out loud to no one. I continued walking even though it was getting dark and my socks and shoes were soggy. I was pretty drenched but I couldn’t care less.
I ring Jake's doorbell and he opens the door almost immediately. “Drew! Your face, what happened to you?!”
I didn’t answer, pushing past him through the door. I pull my hood down and run a hand through my probably messy hair that was usually very neat and styled.
Jake’s eyes widened as he came up behind me. “Drew! You’re soaking wet! Did you seriously walk all the way from your house in the rain?”
I shrug, already feeling the rash forming from the wet socks rubbing against my ankles.
“Do you want some clothes? We’re about the same size and I wouldn't want you to get sick.”
“Jake, I’ll be fi-”
“Jake, honey! Who was at the door?” Jake’s mom walked into the room and her concern faded to a smile when she saw me standing there. “Well hello, Drew honey. How are you?”
“I’m fine, Miss. Sterling. Thanks for asking.”
“Drew honey, I’ve told you can call me (insert her name) You don’t need to be so formal, you and Jake spend so much time together that you’re practically family.”
Not since he joined that stupid music club…
I smile politely as I notice Jake mysteriously disappeared, most likely upstairs to find me something that fit me out of his closet.
“Would you like something to eat? Maybe a drink?” Miss Sterling asks.
“No, thank you. I’m fine.” I told her. Jake comes back with a stack of clean clothes for me and pushes them into my arms as if he knew I was going to refuse if he asked.
Jake’s clothes were big on me but I guess it was better than staying in wet clothes.
I walked back out in Jake’s clothes and Miss Sterling offered to wash my other clothes before she started on dinner.
“Sure, if it’s not a bother.”
“Of course, honey. It’s not a bother at all!” She takes the clothes from me and walks towards the laundry room.
“Wanna go up to my room so that we can talk?” I had almost forgotten Jake was there until he spoke up.
I mumble in agreement as he grabs my wrist and drags me up the stairs.
Once we’re in his room, he closes the door behind us and turns to me. “What’s up with you? Is there something wrong? What aren’t you telling me?”
“Jake, I’m fine. I swear, I’m just tired from playing video games all last night.” I lie effortlessly.
“Drew, you’re not fine. You showed up to my door with a bruise on your cheek, you ditched all your classes today, and all I heard in the halls today was rumors that you and Zoey had a fight.”
I kept quiet, looking down at my feet. My silence seemed to speak volumes as he fiddled with his jacket sleeve. “You don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to but we’re best friends so I’m here if you need me, I hope you know that. I wouldn’t be anywhere without you so I hope you will trust me.”
I didn’t know how to reply to that as I sat on Jake’s bed and he sat backwards on his desk chair, facing me as I continued to stare at his carpet floor.
Jake breaks the silence by opening his closet and taking out a first aid kit. He walks over to me. “May I?” He asks. I nod and he sits down next to me.
Jake slowly reaches up to touch my face, I slightly grimace when he touches my bruise directly.
“Am I hurting you?”
“No, it’s fine, Jake. Just get it over with.”
“Alright, I’ll be right back with an ice pack, don’t move.”
Jake walks downstairs and I hear my phone ringing from the bed. I get up to check it and roll my eyes at the muted notifications from someone I’d been trying to forget about.
(Drewey bear! I’m sorry about earlier, can we go 2 the mall 2 talk??)
(Hello?? Babe, are we going to the mall??)
Three missed calls from Zoey
(Why aren’t you answering me??)
(Babe! Ik ur getting these! Answer me!)

I turned my phone off and stuck it back in my bag. I zipped it up just in time for Jake to walk back into the room.
He sat me on the bed, wrapping the ice pack in a towel and held it up to my face.
I put my hand on top of his, my face was flushed and my heart was practically beating out of my chest.
His eyes stared back into mine and neither of us spoke for a solid five minutes before Jake looked away, rubbing his neck awkwardly as I held the ice pack to my face and watched how Jake reacted.
He looked back up, his face as red as the highlights in his hair as I looked down at his lips then back up to his eyes. He got the message as his face flushed brighter.
“Drew, I-“ Jake started but then was interrupted mid sentence.
“Boys, dinner!” Jake’s mom called from downstairs.
“Uhm; uh- we should go downstairs now.”
Jake opened the door, looking back to make sure I was following him before quickly going down the stairs.
I awkwardly follow behind, holding the ice pack to my cheek with one hand and the stair railing with the other.
I walk into the kitchen, hearing Jake and his mom talking. I watch Mrs Sterling look up to me with concern in her eyes. “Drew, honey! What happened to your face?”
“Nothing, Miss Sterling. I’m fine.” I say simply, sitting down at the table as Jake helped his mother bring the plates over.
She sat down in front of me as Jake sat to my left.
We ate quietly before Miss Sterling broke the silence. “I have to go pick up Emma from a friend’s house. You boys will stay out of trouble while I'm gone, right?” She asks.
“Yeah, we will.” Jake told her.
We finish eating and clear all of our plates before Miss Sterling grabs her purse and heads out the door. Meanwhile, I finish helping Jake wash the dishes.
He washes them and hands them to me to dry with the towel in my hands.
“So, are we gonna talk about it?” Jake says, running a dish under the running water before handing it to me.
“What’s there to talk about?” I feign ignorance, drying the dish and adding to the stack sitting on the counter.
“Come on, Drew. We can’t just pretend what’s happening to us isn’t happening. We’ve barely spoken in days . We’re supposed to be best friends.”
“Yeah? And who’s fault is that? You ran off to join the music club.”
Jake stops, turning to me. “What’s that supposed to mean? You told me you were fine with it.”
“Yeah, well maybe I lied.” I tense my grip on the towel in my hands as Jake shuts the water off and turns his gaze in my direction.
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” I say unintentionally harshly, hoping he would drop the subject.
He sighs. “Fine, how about we finish up and watch a movie or something, deal? You used to love our movie nights.”
“Kay.” I say simply as we finish the dishes then head back up to Jake’s room.
I sit on his bed as Jake walks over to his dvd case on the floor. “What movie should we watch?”
“I don’t really care.” I swing my ankles back and forth against the soft carpet beneath my feet as Jake digs through the movies.
Jake finally finds one, holding it up to me. I nod and he puts it in, pressing play and sitting beside me on the bed.
The movie started and the intro popped up (insert movie title) flashed on the screen.
I was more interested in Jake than the movie but I pretended like I was actually paying attention to anything that was happening on the screen.
It wasn’t long before Jake noticed I wasn’t paying attention because he turned to me and paused the movie. “Are you okay? I thought you loved this movie, I can turn it off if it’s not that interesting.”
“It’s fine, I do like this movie, I'm just really tired.” He gave me a look that said he didn’t believe me and then pressed play on the movie again.
I knew I shouldn’t be staring but I couldn’t help it. God, I hated what he did to me.
Soon enough the movie was over and we both agreed we didn’t feel like sitting through another one.
We just sort of sat facing each other, having the occasional conversation with an obvious factor of awkwardness.
“Isn’t that your phone?” I looked to see my bag lit up from the floor.
“Yeah, but it’s probably just Zoey again. She’s been blowing up my phone since I got here.” I say, rolling my eyes as Jake gives me a look of confusion.
“Why?”
“Who knows? If I’m being honest, I've kind of been tired of her lately. I think I’m starting to lose feelings for her.” Jake’s eyes widened.
“What? Since when? I mean I know you guys had a fight today at school but this is…I just never imagined it, you guys have been together for years.”
“We’ve been having problems for about a year now. I just don't feel the same about her as I used to, simple as that.”
“Well, have you told her that?” Jake asked and I fought back the urge to laugh in his face.
“Oh, god no. She’d have a total meltdown if I even mentioned it.”
Jake stopped to think for a moment before speaking up again. “Do you think you’re gonna break up with her?”
“Probably, I’m really only with her for my parents sake.”
He tilts his head at me and I run a hand through my hair. “Just the outdated fantasy of their young, good looking son marrying a beautiful young lady and upholding the family name.”
‘Wouldn’t your parents just want you to be happy?” I look up and meet his eyes.
“You know how they are, Jake. They don’t care about me, they just care about their wealth and status.”
Jake stays silent for a moment before getting his idea face and turning to me. “I could help you break up with Zoey if that’s what you really want to do.”
“Really? You’d help me with that?” I ask, honestly surprised he’d offer such a thing.
“Yeah, of course! I’d do almost anything for you, Drew.” He laid his hand on the bed, inches away from mine. It took everything in me not to grab it right then and there.
Something in me went off, my body acting before my brain had time to react. “Jake, there’s something that I should tell you…” I trail off, slowly reaching towards his outstretched hand on the bed.
“What is it?” He stared down at my hand reaching for his.
“Well, I…” God, was I really doing this right now? He’s gonna hate me.
“Well, what?”
I stared down at my lap, barely able to contain my racing heartbeat.
“What is it, Drew?” He was waiting for me to continue. Why couldn’t I just spit it out already?
“Jake, I just don’t know how to tell you…” I’m such an idiot. How hard is it to say three simple words? It was never this complicated with Zoey, but maybe that’s just because those feelings weren't real and this is more real than I could have ever imagined. It feels like it’s killing me inside.
“Drew, you’re scaring me.” Jake laid a gentle hand on my shoulder, slightly backing up when I flinched under his touch.
I tried to say something, anything but I just ended up choking on my words as tears stung my eyes and ran down my face.
Jake asked something but his voice was barely audible over my heavy breathing and racing heart. I only remember softly nodding and my shivering body being met with a sudden warmth.
Jake whispered comforting words in my hair, one hand around my waist and the other softly running a hand through my hair.
I lay my head against his shoulder, trying to control my sobs as I bunched up the front of his shirt in my hands.
My body was shaking so hard from crying as Jake simply just held me, rubbing a hand up and down my back and attempting to calm me down.
“I think I’m in…love with you.” I said as I continued to sob, muttering the last two words and secretly hoping he didn’t hear me.
He pulled back to look at me and I prepared myself for the yelling and disgust, for him to kick me out and say he never wants to see me again.
He just stayed silent, the only sound in the room being our breathing and my soft whimpering.
Why wasn’t he saying anything? What was he going to say? Say something!
He pulled me back into his embrace, I didn’t notice he sat me on his lap, rubbing my back as my sobbing got louder from the frustration that he was teasing me like this.
I laid my head against Jake’s chest, listening to his heartbeat and trying to steady my breathing.
Eventually, his arms around me, his voice whispering sweet nothings into my ear and my head on his chest and his heartbeats in my ear was able to calm my breathing down.
Soon enough, I stopped whimpering and shaking as much. I hid my embarrassed face from Jake, muttering a small “I’m sorry” beneath my arm.
“For what?” He replies, still softly rubbing a hand through my hair and holding me on his lap.
“When I said….” Struggling to repeat what I had said earlier. “That..”
“Why would you be sorry? I know what you meant, Drew. And I love you too, man. That’s why we’re homies!”
Despite my better judgment, I push Jake away from me and stand up from his lap. I grab my shoes and my bag.
I quickly put my shoes on, fishing my phone out of my bag.
I swipe away all of Zoey’s notifications, pulling up my mom’s contact right as Jake came up behind me and grabbed my wrist.
“Drew! What’s wrong? Where are you going?”
I whip my head back to look at him. “You don’t know what’s wrong?”
“No? What did I do?”
Even just thinking about it made me start to choke up, if only he knew how intensely I felt about him.
“I’m going home, I can’t do this right now.” I simply say, putting a hand on the door handle and turning to leave.
I fought back tears as Jake struggled on how to reply.
In the end, Jake didn’t chase after me like I secretly had wanted. I called my mother, and she surprisingly picked up.
“Hey, mom.” I said.
“Drew, if you've got nothing to do then you should come have dinner with us. There are lots of women your age that would love to meet you.” She told me and then hung up before I could say anything.
I sigh and decide it would benefit my parents if I made an appearance. I call a driver and eventually arrive at the dinner party.
My mother opened the door and greeted me.
“Drew, you made it, sweetie!” She goes in for a hug but I don’t hug her back. “How come you’re dressed like that? Those aren’t your clothes. If you were coming you could’ve made a little effort to look nice.”
I ignored her and headed to the kitchen where all the appetizers were.
Thank god that Zoey and her family weren’t invited tonight. But sure enough, there were plenty of women here.
They all start to crowd me and ask questions.
“Are you single?” One of them asked.
“I’m not interested, sorry.” I told her.
“Surely a handsome guy like him must have a girlfriend.” Another girl says.
“I don’t have a girlfriend.” I say, praying they’d drop it.
I walked away from the girls and occupied myself by talking to other guests.
The group of girls giggle and laugh in the corner.
It was getting late and the dinner soon was over.
My parents decided that it was time for them to leave. I got up to follow them but was interrupted by those girls again.
“Drew, you haven’t hardly talked to us all night.” They all pout and I could tell that they were definitely drunk.
“What’s wrong with us? Do you not like us?” One asks. “Maybe he’s gay- are you gay? Guys I think he’s gay.” A girl drunkenly laughs.
I rolled my eyes and pushed away from them, escaping the party and leaving.
“Drew, what took you so long? Hurry up and get in the car so we can leave.” My father was getting impatient.
I get in and we arrive home shortly after.
The party was a good distraction for the most part but now I was alone again in my room.
The distant memories of Jake appeared in my mind, the way he held me, the way he looked at me, and what he said..
Stop it, Drew! There’s no point in thinking about him when I know he’s not thinking about me.
I wish I could just get him off my mind but lately it seems to be almost impossible.
I might as well just go to sleep, I’m already exhausted from what this whole day has brought.
I fell against my satin sheets and pillows sented of lavender into a less than peaceful slumber.
3rd Person POV:
The music club had just finished up practice for the day and most of the club went their separate ways while a select few stayed behind. Luke and Sean had stayed behind to talk about Sean’s new music he put together.
Jake was still standing at the microphone, obviously lost in thought. “Hey, Jake. Is everything alright?” Sean asked. “You seem distracted.” Luke added. “Uh well, it’s nothing really…” Jake trailed off, noticing that the other two obviously didn’t believe him.
“Me and Drew had a little misunderstanding last night, I think. And now he won’t return any of my texts or calls but it’s really fine, guys! I-I’m all…good..” He stopped talking as Luke and Sean shared a concerned look then looked back at Jake.
“Jake, do you want to talk about it?” Luke asked.
“We’re here for you if there’s anything you wanna get off your chest, man.” Sean adds, watching the other boy anxiously grip the mic stand.
“So we were just watching movies when Drew started freaking out, out of nowhere. I tried to calm him down and I thought it worked but I think I said something to make him more upset because he decided to leave. I’m pretty sure he’s mad at me and I can see why because I'm always so oblivious to everything and he won’t even answer any of my calls and tell me what happened. But he’s my best friend and I’d feel really bad if I hurt him and I just-” Jake didn’t notice he was rambling until Luke gently led him over to some chairs in the corner and sat next to him as Sean did the same.
Jake’s phone started ringing and he quickly turned his head to it. He got up and rushed over to it hoping it was his best friend returning his calls.
Luke and Sean share another look of concern. “I definitely think you should go talk to him.” Luke says as Jake opens Drew’s contact.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. I’ll go find him.” Jake stood up and walked out of the room to find his best friend, wherever he was.
Jake ended up being late to class, and got a scolding from the teacher. Thankfully Drew was in this class. He took his seat next to Drew. He waved to him but Drew just tilted his head the other way. ‘He’s definitely mad at me!’ Jake thought to himself.
Throughout the hour Jake was anxious to speak to Drew. When the teacher finished her lesson, Jake took this opportunity to tap Drew on the shoulder.
“Hey, so um…I’m-” Jake started, leaning closer to Drew.
“No talking in class, Jake. This is study time!” The teacher yelled at him.
“Sorry.” He says quickly, putting his head down.
To Jake, class felt like it was longer than usual and it killed him.
Finally the bell rang and before he knew it, Drew was already out the door. He hadn’t waited for Jake to pack up like usual.
Drew’s POV:
I left the classroom as fast as I could. Jake wants to talk to me but I really don’t want to put up with his stupidity right now. He’s so clueless all the time.
Jake calls my name from a couple feet away. I ignore him and keep walking as he struggles to make his way through the crowded hallways.
I make my way around the corner, and just as I thought I managed to get away from Jake, he sneaks up behind me and grabs my wrist. Naturally I jump and he pulls me over to an empty hall.
“What is this about?” I ask, though I knew all too well what was going on.
“I want to make things right with us.” He says. He looks at me for a second before continuing. “I'm not exactly sure what happened but whatever it is, you can tell me. I’ll do whatever you need me to do to make it better.” He says.
I take a minute, and I doubt him.
“Anything? Yeah, sure.” I say sarcastically.
“I mean it. What will make you feel better?” He says, trying to reassure me.
I sighed. “Do you even know why I’m upset with you?” I look up at him and his eyes widen before he looks down at his feet.
“No…” He mumbles quietly.
I roll my eyes, pinching the brim of my nose. “Of course you don’t, you never know why people get upset. Maybe you should pay more attention to the people around you once in a while.”
Jake started to speak but I interrupted him.
“I can’t talk to you right now. Later, Jake.” I ignore the hurt and confusion in his eyes, turning the other direction and walking off.
I do feel bad for leaving Jake in the dark but it’s too embarrassing to tell him the truth.
The rest of the day passes and on my way out I see Zoey giving me a snobby glare. I glare back and continue on my way home.
Dinner comes around and my parents are working late. I didn’t bother to make myself a proper meal, I instead grabbed an apple and headed to my room.
Zoey calls me to tell me that I'm “being selfish” for not spending money on her.
I ended up hanging up on her. She’s so noisy.
I put my phone down but immediately pick it back up when I hear a notification pop up.
JAKE:
(Can I come over?)
(Please?)
(...)
(Okay)
(B there soon)
