Work Text:
The moon streams in through the lonely windows as Jason tosses in your bed. His arm stretching out for your comforting warmth, "Baby," his voice low and lost as he pats further and further across the matress, only to find it empty.
His other hand reaches out to the nightstand, grabbing his gun. You wouldn't leave him, were you taken? Is someone in the house?
He moves fast, his ears on alert as he leaves the bedroom. Stalking his way down the hall and towards a soft clinking that's coming from the kitchen. His hearts racing, praying that someone hasn't got you like they did in his nightmare not moments ago.
He rounds the corner, gun drawn and ready to fire on whomever is in there.
You look up, smiling at him. Your arms drawn out as you tip toe your way to him and wrap your arms around him. The warm scent of your shampoo filling his nostrils as you bury your head in his shoulder, "it's alright, Jay. I'm ok." You reassure him, your delicate fingers stroking down the edge of his spine, "you can put it down. I'm safe."
"You were gone." He mutters, dropping the gun and holding you so close, "you weren't here anymore."
"I know," you hug him tight, "I am here now," you pull back holding his face in your hands, "you can see me, hear me, feel me," you bring his nose down to yours, "I am here. I'm safe." You promise, "with you."
"Baby, I thought-"
"You were having the nightmare again."
"It's not just the nightmare-"
"I made you some tea. Thought it might help." You let go of him, but he keeps a firm grip on your hand as you take the tea bags from your mugs. "Do you want to go back to bed?"
"Will you come with me?"
"Where else would I go?" Grabbing a mug each you slowly make your way back to bed, Jason's hand still clasping yours so tight.
"Come here," he tucks you under his shoulder, kissing into your hair as you sip at your tea, "thank you for this."
"Your welcome, when I saw you thrashing around I figured you might need a pick me up."
"I was doing it again?" He signs, resting his chin on your head, "didn't get you this time did I?"
"I know it was an accident," you lean back so you can look at him in the eyes, "you didn't hurt me." After the last time this happened, and he accidentally socked you in the face, shit he felt awful for weeks. You were lucky you managed to wake up this time and move just before his huge arm collided with your head again.
"Maybe I should sleep on the couch?"
"No. You're staying right here," you state, placing your empty tea cup beside you and snuggling into Jason's broad chest, "how else will you keep me safe?"
"Who's going to keep you safe from me?"
"From you?" You yawn, "why would I need that?"
"You know why." he stares seriously at you.
"You're being silly." you nuzzle your head into his warmth, "Just finish your tea and let's get back to sleep."
"Ok baby, whatever you want." He says almost reluctantly, like if he closes his eyes you're going to be gone again.
"I'm not going anywhere and neither are you." You reassure him, somehow always knowing the right thing to say to ease his worries.
"You promise."
"Cross my heart."
