Strumming through your heart |seungmin/jeongin|

Chapter 1: Pilot

Chapter Text

"Hyung please, help me out will you?" Jeongin pleaded, leaning against the other, who sat still scrolling though his phone.

"Sure, later" he replied dismissively, not paying attention to the younger. "Channie hyungggggg" he whined, punching the elders sides in desperatation.

This had been going on for about 30 minutes now, with chan not paying proper attention to the younger, all to prove a point, prove that jeongin should listen to his hyung and that his hung knows best. Jeongin knew this was on him and no one else, after all year of dismissing chan's advice to improve his skill level in guitar he had now reached a point where there were barely 3 months left for his submission and yet he still hadn't added his third instrument that he can present infront of the teacher during practicals.

Jeongin was overconfident, he understands now. Sure his vocals were unparalleled in class but to get a perfect score he needed more then that, and just playing the piano for all the project wasn't enough to stay on the same successful path of his hyungs, chan, jisung and changbin. Jeongin remembered the effort they all put in, the sacrifices they made and now it was his turn.

"I am sorry hyung, I really am. I understand my mistakes now.." he finally admitted, voice low bit firm, head hung low in disappointment towards himself.

Chan tried, he really tried being strict with the younger, trying to show him that his actions and negligence had consequences that he had to face, trying to show him that no matter how much chan wished otherwise, there would be a time where his hyungs won't be there to clean after him. Although the other knew to was time to put his foot down and not fall for the youngers puppy doe eyes and cute little pouts, it was all so hard. Signing with disappointment about his lack of self control against cute things, chan lifted his hand and placed it on the now pouting kid next to him, rubbing soothing circles on his shoulder.

"Ok, look I.NNie, I am sorry but I really can't teach you, but since you have been such a good boy and admitted you mistakes, I will help you out OK?" Chan reassured, to which he was strangled into a hug for. As the younger started to mutter small thank yous like a magic mantra over and over again, chan let out a giggle at his behaviour, sensitive heart swelling with love for his friend. "Come on, I am not the one you should be thanking, after all I am not going to teach, again i really am busy nowadays. But I know someone that can help you with this, oh plus you'll like this person much more then me" chan explained, feeling the arms looped around the elder go limp with confusion.

"Huh? Well then who-?"
"Don't worry about that sweetie, just come to my studio 2:30 sharp, hm?"

God he regretted ever asking chan hyung for help, regretting ever trusting him.

In order to run from an angry jeongin, chan had fled the scene about 24 minutes before, just in case, leaving seungmin and an unaware felix to deal with the situation he had created both for for jeongin sake and his own entertainment.

Felix sat in the middle of the room, with jeongin and seungmin on the opposite corners of the room like wild cats forced to  socialize, fidgeting with his tiny fingers, sweat nervously dripping down his neck. "Umm, I swear I had no part in this seungmin hyung-" he started rambling on, looking all around but seungmin's eyes.

Jeongin felt almost bad for felix, though he was in to much of a silent tantrum directed towards chan to even care completely.
Sighing, as though he was the one having a hard time, seungmin mumbled out," its fine lix, I know it was chan. I knew owning him a favour wouldn't end without another problem"

Scoffing at the older words, jeongin almost addressed his thoughts about the older calling him a 'problem' but decided to shut up, totally not because of the way seungmin throw him a glare and raised a brow as soon as the sound escaped the younger lips, rather he decided to shut up because he knew he needed the help. H knew even though seungmin was an absolute asshole, he was also one of the best players in the campus. He was sure the professors would give him an easy B if they found out seungmin help him, he had created quite the reputation with his insatiable voice and percussion skills.

Totally.

Sighing again, seungmin reluctantly pick up the guitar next to him, and gestured the younger to come forward, "come here" he ordered blankly, now looking down on his phone with the guitar on his lap and pick in his hand, scrolling though  something, not paying jeongin anymore attention, or even a spare glance.

Taking with the opportunity with a starved stomach, felix bolted out the room, quick footsteps leading him out on door. Watching felix's sudden movements with curious eyes, jeongin complied, moving towards the older, sitting next to him, his own guitar in hand, placing it I his lap and adjusting its position, it really had been anlong while since he felt the instrument on his lap, long fingers wrapping around the neck of the guitar as the other hand searched for his pick in his left pocket, taking it out after a few seconds of searching and digging around in his pocket.

"Heh, I guess you know how to hold a guitar at least, even though your position and posture Could use a lot of help" seungmin said, voice dry as ever. Jeongin often wondered how that blank, dull voice could transform into the an angel's melody on stage, not that he often thought about his voice, because he did not. He never thought about the olders beautiful voice.

Rolling his eyes at the comments it took surprisingly a lot of self control to stop a snarkly reply to slip of his lip, instead pressing his tongue against the inside end his cheek, a habit he had learned from his chan hyung that he now did sub consciously.
Seungmin let his lips to turn into a smirk, apparently satisfied with the reaction he received from the usually quick mouthed younger who rarely held back on his opinions.

"Now, show me what you know, dumbass"

Jeongin like ti belive he wasn't a total beginner, he knew the basic cords, could handle a bar chord (barely but fine), play a few songs with tabs, read basic staff notes. But the way seungmin's face contracted when he played a barred c chord told him otherwise. Groaning out loud jeongin asked," now what did i do wrong?" In his opinion he did fine, sure it probably was nothing compared the great seungmin barred chords but it wasn't the worst, he believed seungmin was just being hard on him for reasons other then teaching him to be better.

"Well, a lot of things to begin with, you could do better" he said, and for mere second jeongin believed him, the younger almost believed the latter was being hard on him because he knew jeongin could do better, but soon reminded himself who he was thinking about.

In jeongins eyes and previous experiences, seungmin was rude, annoying and an asshole. He never had jeongins best in his mind like his other hyungs, rather his own amusement. Narrowing his eyes at the older, jeongin stared as if expecting the other to brush into a fit of laughter and reminding him that this was his cap and he was just poking a dead bear in amusement. Although that was definitely no what happened, seungmin stared back into the youngers eyes, almost like he was being completely honest but jeongin knew better.

"Ok then, you do it" the younger asked, trying his best not to sound spiteful which he clearly was. Challenging the other, he raised a brow, he knew seungmin would do it better easily producing a clear, melodious sound but he counted his wishes that something went wrong, maybe his guitar could have a voice crack or lighting could hit him and the guitar, or even a heartattack would be acceptable.

Adjusting his guitar in his lap, seungmin, followed que, playing just as jeongin had expected him to, beautifully. Although what did surprise was the fact that the older made no sarcastic comment later, on the contrary began teach jeongin to do it the right way. "The position of my hand is similar but also vastly different, the mistakes you made were of two kinds. One you muted a string, though we'll figure which one out later which is inturn why you made your second mistake, you didnt apply the right amount of pressure but you can't really do better unless you position your fingers better." Seungmin concluded.

Pursing his lips at the unexpected yet welcome response jeongin reluctantly nodded along, absorbing the information bit by bit, genuinely taking in the advice. Keeping the new information in mind jeong8n positioned his fingers on the neck of the guitar, delicately placing his fingers on the specific notes and applying pressure on the tips of his fingers, only for a 'tsk' to escape the olders lips as he shook his head is disappointment.

Jeongin let out a gasp in surprise as he felt the olders tight fingers curl around his slumped shoulders, "relax, I am just fixing your posture" seungmin whispered in his ear after he moved even further to reach the latters left Hand, moving his fingers in just the slightest. Jeongin could feel the tallers breath on his neck as he did what he wanted with his fingers, acing them in the slightest difference of position, eyes drawn in concentration. ब
हPulling back, jeongin felt an unexplainable loss of touch, loss of feeling the elder warm breath on his neck and their close proximity but soon pushed aside the thoughts as he stared at seungmin gesturing him to strum. Complying, the younger did exactly as told, strumming to receive a similar sound to the one seungmin had made with his instrument.

Grinning in happiness and delight, a proud jeongin looked up to met seungmin himself glaze, who turned a slight shade of red and cleared his throat looking away, hand patting jeongins shoulder in acknowledgement, eyes still trailing away.

'Maybe this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be'
