Chapter Text
Chapter One (Robin)
Today was the day. We would finally be in the Justice League. Well, we'd be in the Young Justice, but that's better than nothing. You probably don't know about the Young Justice League. I'll tell you about it.
The Young Justice League was made by Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, The Flash and Wonder Woman because my older brother, Blue (Nightingale), his best friend, Roy Harper (Speedy), and Dorothy 'Dottie' Wilson (Circe) stole the Siren Vase so that Savage (total jerk btw, we hate him) didn't steal it. They were grounded for three months because they stole a Justice League jet, threatened the guards protecting it, caused at least three fights, kidnapped one of Savage's men because he had information, and broke several other laws. So, to keep them from doing that again, they made the Young Justice.
Roy was going to rejoin the Young Justice with me (Robin), Wally (Kid Flash) and Kaldur (Aqualad). Circe was in retirement, she wanted to go to university. It's a school for witches, wix and wizards. I don't know what it's called, since they need to keep it secret from some magic users that call themselves the Grand Coven, (we DO NOT like them) they want to recruit Circe, and so she's there so they don't find her.
Let's get back to the present, I'm fighting Mr. Freeze with Batman. I rushed the fight and afterwards, Bats comes over and says, "Why are you in such a rush?"
"Today's the day!" I reply, eager to get going to the Hall of Justice.
"We have a half hour until we need to be there."
"Yeah, well, Nightingale is already there."
We get to the Hall of Justice and the Flashes were late. Nightingale puts his arm on my head and says, "So, you whelmed?"
"I'm overwhelmed."
He pretends to be shocked as he says, "My brother, Robin, who is only whelmed, is now overwhelmed? Is the world ending?"
I roll my eyes. "I'm just nervous."
He smiles and ruffles up my hair, making it messier than it already was.
"Hey, at least your Day will be normal." Roy jokes.
"What do you mean by that?"
Nightingale and Roy laugh. Roy looks at me and says while laughing, "We blew up a lab right after."
"Oh. I forgot about that."
Nightingale hears something, I could tell since he was staring into space, thinking.
I was about to ask Nightingale something when the Flashes arrive. Wally stands next to me and Nightingale and complains to Flash, "Dammit, we're late! I knew we'd be late!"
"We made it in time."
Wally looks around and asks, "God, have all us five sidekicks been in the same room at the same time?"
"No." Nightingale replies a little too coldly.
Why was he being so cold?
"And we're not sidekicks. Not after today." Roy adds, coldly.
Why were they BOTH being cold? I narrow my eyes and try to read them, but Nightingale being Nightingale, could easily hide what he was thinking, and Roy was good at hiding his body language and what he was thinking because Green Arrow trained him to be like that and honestly, I'm pretty sure the only two people who could tell what's on Roy's mind is Nightingale and Circe.
"Let's just go in before people ask about Ireland." Nightingale starts walking like he was sent to kill Captain America.
We go into the Hall of Justice and when we get in there, it was a normal lounge. Books, tables, couches and chairs, and a giant computer. Wally stole some pretzels and sat in a chair while Roy and Nightingale stood off to the side, talking. I steal the couch and Nightingale comes over and sits next to me.
"Kid, don't blow up a C.A.D.M.U.S. lab after this. We don't need a repeat of mine, Roy and Dottie's Day."
"I'll try my best."
He nods and goes back over to Roy and talks. They look at the Leaguers and then look back to each other. What were they talking about? Wally and Kaldur were chatting as I waited for the Leaguers to finish talking so they would tell us what this whole thing was. Batman waves Nightingale over and he cautiously goes over, since his least favourite Leaguer, Superman, was there.
Intrigued, I listen in on the conversation.
"Are you going to join the Young Justice again?"
"No, and no, I can't help with getting them used to the protocols afterwards, because I have something to do."
Batman nods and tells Nightingale he can go back. Nightingale goes back over to Speedy and the League stops talking and turns to us.
"When's our first mission?" Wally asks.
"Not for a long while." Green Arrow replies.
"What?" Roy asks.
"You still need to start training as a team and then you get missions." Superman says.
I was annoyed, obviously, and I look at Nightingale for any information and he just shakes his head 'no', telling me to not cause a scene when the press was right outside.
"So what are we supposed to do? Sit around and wait for you to give us orders?" Roy argues.
"Roy." Green Arrow warns.
"This isn't even the League's actual HQ!"
"What?"
The Leaguers look at Green Arrow, a little surprised and angry. Were we not supposed to know about it? Did they not trust us enough?
"Their actual HQ is in space. It's called the Watchtower. This... this is just a front for the press. All these zeta-tubes lead to the real thing."
Batman looks at Green Arrow, waiting for an explanation.
"I know, I know, I just thought we could make an exception?"
Batman glares at him and the rest of the League look at him in disappoinment.
"I guess not."
"You're not helping your case here, son." Aquaman starts. "Stand down or--"
"Or what? You'll send me to my room?" Roy yells. "And I'm not your son. I'm not even his."
I look at Nightingale and he shakes his head no again. Did he know about the Watchtower? Why didn't he tell me?
Nightingale looks at us and says, "If you want to quit, leave now."
Roy glances Nightingale's way and says to the Leaguers, "I quit. This isn't the Young Justice League I remember."
What? I thought this team was going to be the four of us. Maybe it would still be four and Nightingale would join?
"Roy!" Green Arrow yells as his sidekick storms off.
Roy was already gone when Green Arrow was going to chase after him.
"Nightingale. Are you going to join the team?"
"No."
I pout then look at the rest of them and I ask, "Are we going to ever go on missions?"
Before Batman could explain, two warnings appear on the screen.
'League, you are needed. Wotan is trying to use the Amulet of Aten to blot out the sun. Full League request.' Zatara explains.
'League, there is a fire at C.A.D.M.U.S. Caused by an explosion.' Green Lantern explains.
"The authorities can handle C.A.D.M.U.S. Green Lantern, meet us at Zatara's location." Superman explains.
"Stay out of trouble." Flash says, running out the Hall.
We grumble something and sit down. Nightingale gets a call from Gordon and says, "On my way."
I look up, hoping we could join him on his mission. He shakes his head no and apologizes, "Sorry, kid, it's a Code Three."
"Okay, Night."
He heads to the zeta-tubes and looks over at us, "Y'know, that C.A.D.M.U.S. thing is weird... something off about it, don't you think?"
"Yeah..."
He leaves and we knew he basically told us to go investigate the C.A.D.M.U.S. fire. I go over to the laptop and say, "We're investigating."
"I don't know... I don't want to disobey orders." Kaldur says.
"Who cares? It'll be another century before we get a mission. And there's one right here for us." Wally argues.
"They have another HQ in space they didn't even tell us about. What else have they been hiding?"
"Did Nightingale know?"
I look at the computer and ignore the question. No. There was no way he would know that and not tell me. He trusted me... right?
I get what we need from League Systems and we head to C.A.D.M.U.S. KAldur was hesistant to leave and help us at first, but we convinced him to come. When we get there, I go in and Kaldur helps out out the fire as Wally gets victims out and Kaldur helps Wally get into the building and I go to the laptop. Nightingale would kill us if we didn't get to the bottom of this.
Nightingale's POV
I will kill them if they don't get to the bottom of the C.A.D.M.U.S. fire.
"Nightingale, you going to help us with the Joker case, right?"
"Yeah. What did he do this time?"
"It's a fight between Joker and Two-Face."
I sigh. "Oh goody. Where?"
"Bristol."
I nod and start heading to Bristol. Bristol's an odd choice for their fight since that's neither of their territory. Gordon and the officers would meet me there. On my way, I look at my map and see that Robin was at the C.A.D.M.U.S. lab. I smile. He would get to the bottom of it. He was my brother after all.
"What's the plan?" Gordon asks.
"Take down Joker first. Two-Face has morals at the very least."
"So officers go to take Two-Face down and you take Joker down?"
"Yeah, but only after I take down Joker and his goons."
Gordon nods and he tells his guys what to do as I sneak over to take Joker down.
Batman's POV
Dick and Blue have a parent-teacher conference soon... dammit. Blue is in twelveth grade, so I don't care if he skips some classes, but Dick can't, since he's in eighth grade. Hopefully they haven't started any fights or protests in school against the teachers... again.
Robin's POV
We were starting to escape and we try to escape through the vents and when we start going to the roof, I put bombs in every room we pass through. I've been doing that since we got in here. I wonder if Nightingale would be proud...
"Hey, Rob, we gotta go, man." Wally says when I place another bomb.
I nod and we head out. Once we get on the roof, I call Nightingale.
"Heyyyyyy Nightingale...... so, guess what?"
He sighs. "What?"
"We kind of, sort of... blewupthecadmusfacilityandhaveateenagecloneofsuperman." I explain as fast as I could.
He stays silent for a few seconds and I could hear a small laugh.
"You-- I-- really?"
"Yeah..." Wally says. "Can you uh, can you get here before the League?"
"I'm already half way there, Wally. Just try not to get killed until I get there."
He hangs up and I look at the others.
"We're so screwed." Kaldur mutters.
Nightingale's POV
When I wrap it up with Joker and Two-Face, I get a call from Robin. What did my unhinged little brother do?
"Heyyyyyy Nightingale...... so, guess what?"
I sigh. "What?"
"We kind of, sort of... blewupthecadmusfacilityandhaveateenagecloneofsuperman."
I stay silent for a few seconds and laugh lightly. Blowing shit up really does run in the family.
"You-- I-- really?"
"Yeah..." Wally says. "Can you uh, can you get here before the League?"
"I'm already half way there, Wally. Just try not to get killed until I get there."
I hang up and pinch the bridge of my nose as I drove to the nearest zeta-tube.
Third Person
When Nightingale got to the C.A.D.M.U.S. lab, or well, what was left of it, he jumps onto the roof and lands in a fighting stance, just in case. He sees the team and rushes over, hugging his brother after checking him for any wounds.
"You're okay? You're not hurt? Any of you?"
"Just a couple of cuts." Robin replies, hugging his brother back.
Nightingale looks at the the clone and his eyes narrow, but he sees some cuts and quickly pulls out a first-aid kit and waves the teenager over. The clone was confused but went over and Nightingale patched up the wound he saw.
The League arrives and the Team looks at them while Nightingale steps in front of them, as if shielding them from the League.
"What happened?"
"We investigated because you wouldn't." Robin replies to Superman's question.
"Nightingale. Who is behind you?" Batman questions.
He steps aside and shows them the clone. The clone, Kr, looks at the Leaguers and shows them the symbol on his shirt and announces, "I'm Superman's clone."
Batman and the other Leaguers' eyes narrowed and Nightingale steps in front of the Team again.
"What happened here I take full responsibility of."
"No, Nightingale." Batman looks at the teenagers behind him and says, "Not only did you disobey League orders, you broke into League systems, blew up a C.A.D.M.U.S. facility, brought a clone back and called Nightingale before us."
Robin was confused about the last part. What was so wrong with calling Nightingale before them? He was just as good as the rest of the Leaguers.
"But other than that... Good job." Batman replies before leaving.
The Team was surprised and when the Leaguers leave to go to Mount Justice and told the others to find their way there, they look at Nightingale.
"Meet you at Mount Justice."
"What's Mount Justice?"
"Home."
