Queens of the Golden Hall (100 words)

Summary:

Morwen and Lothiriel, noblewomen of Gondor, generations apart, wedded Kings of the Golden Hall. Perhaps Lothiriel is not quite her ancestress over again, but when she hears Eomer rambling to his dead cousin, she resolves to give him the help he requires.

Work Text:

Lothiriel saw her betrothed speaking, to whom she could not tell, and came closer. She stood at a respectful distance from Eomer; he knelt on the shore of the Isen, head bowed.

“Theodred, my brother, what am I to do now? I have lost Eowyn to Gondor, Holdwine to the holbytlan, and two fathers to the sword. I seek wisdom. How shall I be a King my people will follow?”

Lothiriel hurried to Eomer’s side.

“I have faith in you, my lord,” she said softly. “Let me be your helpmeet, as Morwen of Lossarnach, my kinswoman, was for Thengel King.”
