Chapter Text
Aru Shah was bored. She had arrived at Brynne’s penthouse for a sleepover but they still hadn’t done anything exciting. Nikita and Sheela were playing some hand games, Aiden was showing his candid shots to Gunky and Funky, while Hira and Brynne were probably in the kitchen. Mini and Rudy weren’t joining the Potatoes for a completely different reason.
A grin spread across Aru’s face when she remembered what her soul sister had told them she couldn’t come to the sleepover. Their conversation went like this:
Aru: Why can’t you come, Mini?
Mini (turns red): I have— um— something to— uh— do that night?
Brynne: She’s going on a date with Rudy.
Mini: What?! That’s not it. (Turns even redder)
Aru (grins evilly): Now, pour the tea.
Brynne (buries head in hands): Shah, stop quoting ‘Mulan’ please.
Nikita (interrupting): I overheard— along with Sheela— Rudy talking about taking Mini to Naga-Loka.
Sheela: I think they’re going to an event or something? Mini’s his plus-one.
Mini: GUYS!
Aru stretched on the bed. She was in the guest room, though she would be sleeping on the couch when the time came. She sighed, when was this sleepover going to go from boring to exciting?
Aiden walked into the room. Hello distraction, she thought.
“Wifey, this sleepover is booorrinng,” she complained, as he plopped down next to her. He gave her a smirk, turning her cheeks slightly red. They had been dating for over a week now. They decided to let their friends find out on their own since they were keeping their relationship private.
“Shah, give it time. You’ll find a way to spice things up.” Aiden said. He frowned. “Why are your lips shiny? Did you try to eat glitter glue again?”
“Ugh, that was just one time!” Aru said, throwing her hands in the air. She hadn’t meant to. It was just… so shiny…
“Plus, this is lip gloss. Nikita let me borrow hers,” she added. She was wary at first when she tried it on, but it looked good on her. It smelt good too.
“What’s the flavour?” Aiden asked, setting Shadowfax on the table near them.
Aru was about to respond before he cupped her face and kissed her. His lips were on hers for a second before he pulled back and said, “Hmm, peach?”
Aru felt her face go red and smirked. “Smooth, Acharya. Smooth.”
Aiden grinned. “I learn from the best.”
“You two are dating?!?!” a voice yelled from the doorway.
Aru and Aiden flinched, turning around to see Brynne standing with her mouth wide open. She looked shocked but Aru could see the glimmer in her eyes.
Crap.

“Oh my gods,” Brynne said. “You guys are dating?”
Aru said, “No” at the same time Aiden said, “Maybe?”
Aru swatted Aiden. “Aiden!”
Brynne turned around, yelling for Nikita and Sheela. Great , Aru thought, rubbing her red cheeks. Brynne was calling the troll police.
“What?” Nikita asked as she turned up with Sheela pouting behind her. “I was just about to win.”
“You owe me 50 bucks, Nikki! These two lovebirds are dating.” Brynne said smugly, holding out her hand.
“WHAT? For how long?” Nikita asked in surprise. Sheela only gave Aiden a thumbs-up before going back to twisting one of her braids.
“A week, at least,” Aru replied. Might as well tell them now that they knew.
“Ughhh, couldn’t you have waited a little longer!” Nikita pouted as she handed Brynne some money. Brynne grinned, shooting Aru and Aiden a “thanks” before leaving.
“Nice to know you’ve been betting on this,” Aru said dryly, glaring at Aiden. He only gave her a look of innocence, shrugging.
“I already knew, but it was nice to see you two confirm it,” Sheela said, making her hands meet in a smooching manner.
“Does that mean you saw that?” Aiden faceplanted on the bed, moaning. Aru giggled, walking out of the room with the twins.
Well, that was one way to make the sleepover more exciting.
