Chapter Text
Charlie Brown;Ah so begins another summer. This will be great. Dont you think so Linus.
Linus;definetly, we can just stay home, play out in the street all day, and no worries about school lr homework. For once we can finally just hang out.
Charlie Brown;I agree, maybe Snoopy and I can do stuff together all summer. Maybe we can have Sally join us too.
Linus;can I join you?
Charlie Brown;sure
Linus;Just dont invite me if you plan to bring Sally along. She’ll just bug me the whole time.
They reach CB’s house
Charlie Brown;Hey Snoopy im home for the summer, are you ready to hang out together
Snoopy simply goes into his doghouse amd pulls out a skateboard, then he runs out to the street and starts riding it.
Charlie Brown; ugh good grief
Linus;you have a strange dog Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown;yeah but I kinda like it. I wont tell him that though.
Linus;Well at least hes not a complete nag like Lucy.
Charlie Brown;speakimg of, what does your sister have planned for this summer.
Linus;I dont know, she told me yesterday that she had something exciting planned for this summer though. She didnt say what it was, she told me it was kind of a secret.
Charlie Brown;oh brother, that cant be anything good.
Just then Shcroder and Franklin walk up.
Shcroder;hey are you guys ready for this summer.
Charlie Brown;of course we are
Linus;Sure, but im kinda worried.
Franklin;worried? About what?
Linus;Lucy said she had something exciting planned for this summer, and it was a secret. Im worried she'll try to take me out camping. I never have liked camping much.
Shcroder;well as long as its not a SUMMER camp.
Linus;Oh good grief ANYTHING but a summer camp.
Charlie Brown;ugh I do not want to go near any summer camp
Franklin;me neither those places are the worst
Lucy then shows up and calls the boys over
Lucy;guys come over here I have an announcement to make.
They all walk over
Limus;whats this about Lucy?
Lucy;I got us all into summer camp
everyone;WHAT!!
Lucy;I talked to our parents and they all agreed this would be a good thing
Charlie Brown;you cant be serious
Lucy; I am, theres to be no discussion about this. We leave for camp tomorrow morning, the bus will be here to pick us up at 8.
Charlie Brown;I feel like i've been drafted
Schroder;Boy you've really done it this time Lucy!
Lucy;Sure have, im looking forward to spending the summer with you
Schroder;Oh good grief
Lucy leaves, Schroder and Franklin leave
Charlie Brown;Linus your sister is the worst
Linus;Yeah but im too afraid to tell her no, so were stuck going.
Charlie Brown;welp, I guess I’d better go home and start packing.
Linus; So do I, we’ll ill see you later Charlie Brown.
Linus leaves, Charlie Brown goes back to the house and packs his belongings. Snoopy is now back at the doghouse and Charlie Brown tells him the news.
Charlie Brown;hey Snoopy, me and everyone else are leaving for summer camp tomorrow. If you wanna come with us I suggest you start packing.
Snoopy immediately sets to work packing as Charlie Brown goes in the house to pack his own things. Snoopy packs his glasses, his supper dish, his football, and almost everything else in his house. Woodstock attempts to lift the football and tries to play a round with Snoopy but unfortunately he keeps getting smashed by the ball. Meanwhile Charlie Brown is inside packing his own things slowly while dreading the fact he will have to go to summer camp yet again. Sally was also packing too but she was more enthused than Charlie Brown to go as she felt she could make new friends as well as reach her true potential there. Finally they finish packing and go through the rest of the day like normal. Charlie Brown spends the rest of the time at home watching television, too upset by the prospect of the next day to go out. Eventually he goes to bed and says a few words of hope.
Charlie Brown;Oh Lord, please help me tomorrow, and the rest of this summer. I dont want this to be like the other summers ive had. I want this summer to be different. Maybe ill do something really meaningful at the camp and be a hero, or maybe ill meet someone new who will change my life. Oh God please let this be a good summer. Help me through this.
Charlie Brown had no idea how accurate his last line about meeting someone would be. In hindsight it was perfect foreshadowing. Someone at that camp was about to change his life forever, he just didn't know it yet.
