Work Text:
Booker went with Joe and Nile only because Booker needed to test out a new tracking system. Before leaving the safe house, Booker had put a tracker on Joe without Joe knowing it by patting him on the shoulder. And looking at the screen meant that Booker didn't have to listen to Joe, who was telling Nile about all the places and buildings he had kissed Nicky in.
Joe points to his right: "And I kissed Nicky there."
Joe turned another corner.
Joe points to his left: "And I also kissed Nicky there. A shame the inn is gone. Do you remember the inn, Book?"
Booker just nodded. He knew that testing his new tracking system to its full limit he needed Joe to walk all over Paris, so discreetly he made the agreed sign to Nile.
Nile: "Wouldn't it be easier for you to point out those buildings you haven't kissed Nicky in yet?"
Booker: "Please don't give him any ideas."
Joe: "Uhh, there was an idea. Make new memories with Nicky."
Joe spun around himself while looking at the different buildings.
Joe points in front of him: "What about that pub over there? I don't think I have ever seen it before"
Booker looked at the pub before he raised a finger towards Joe as a warning.
Booker: "You stay the hell away from that place or else I will personally shoot you if you dare to desecrate that place with your love life. Got it?"
Joe: "Fine, I was just teasing you. We know how to behave."
Booker mutters to himself: "I need to see that yet.
Joe: "Then I find somewhere else to create new memories. Paris is big enough for us all. Nile, wanna come?"
Nile: "I think I will stay with Book. I want to see his Paris."
Joe: "Ok, see you back at the safe house tomorrow."
Joe waves at them before turning a corner. When Joe is out of sight he calls Nicky. A couple of seconds later, Booker smiled when he looks at the screen.
Nile: "Let me guess. Nicky has left the safe house."
Booker: "Yes, this tracking system is amazing. So far, it has tracked Nicky who is over 10 miles and Joe who is less than 2 miles from us. I bet it can track people over 20 miles away from us. It will be very handy in the future."
Nile: "Congrats. And I don't doubt it. So, the pub over there. What's the story with that place?"
Booker: "Bought it back in 1883. And until now I have been able to keep it a secret. Maybe it's time to move on to something new."
Nile: "Joe promised not to tell and so do I."
Booker: "You I trust, Joe, not so much. Come, I buy you a drink."
Nile: "I always wanted to taste a Kir Royal."
After getting a drink and a beer, they sat down at a table in the corner.
Nile: "What's the idea of owning a pub?"
Booker: "Just doing what the rest does. Invest my money in something that interests me. Living long costs a lot of money."
Nile took a sip of her Kir Royal.
Nile: "I see what you mean. I have been thinking about how to earn some money of my own."
Booker: "Wanna share?"
Nile: "I love fashion and vintage things. Joe and Nicky said I could have some of their old stuff I could sell but I don't know how to do it without being noticed."
Booker: "If you want, I could set up an alias for you, you can use it for a couple of years, and I can also show you how to sell online. Somehow I think you got more patience to learn it than others."
Nile: "I would love to learn it. And thanks. How can I repay you?"
Booker: "Don't think about it. And besides..."
Booker looked at the screen that made a noise and the dots showing Joe and Nicky were moving like crazy in one spot.
Nile: "Are they having..."
Booker: "I don't want to know. Maybe my new tracking system needs some tuning if it picks up that."
Nile: "It could become handy if you think about it. Imagine if your tracking system could track more than what Joe and Nicky are doing right now."
Booker places the screen upside down after turning off the noise.
Booker: "As long it doesn't track naked asses."
They both laughed.
Booker: "But back to you and you earning money. What do you say to this idea?"
When Nile sold an old Luis Vitton suitcase for over 120.000 Euros a couple of months later, she bought as a thank the newest biggest tv for Booker, who said that in the future that he preferred to be paid that way whenever they needed tech support
