Work Text:

I remember you, Din Djarin. We were childhood friends before the Purge happened, we played every game we knew together. I would say we were happy children before having our smiles ripped from us in bloodbaths on a random afternoon, for some. Remember walking with our hands together? I do. I miss.
After the Purge I never saw you again. I thought I had died, I cried for days. Now I see you here, on our probable deathbed, in full beskar, almost victorious. Moff Gideon is going to take our lives with his soldiers at any moment and I'm not ready. I wish I had the chance to talk to you again, see you, properly and not when we're in this situation.
Do you remember me? I wonder.
I changed a lot? Would you notice?
Have you been pretending this whole time?
My heart is pounding so hard right now. I might cry, I don't know.
I feel... sorrow. Knowing that I won't have another chance, I remain hidden in a corner of the Cantina while listening to the conversations, I stay close to the sewer entrance. I look at you and for a few moments, I think you look at me too. This was before the IG droid arrived and the blaster fire began.
Two Stormtroopers manage to break into the Cantina, Cara and I hide before she manages to kill them. Cara comes out of the Cantina when I hear an explosion, I look out the window and see you on the floor, knocked out. My heart will stops for a brief moment. Is this how you leave me? After all this time.
Luckily Cara manages to get him back inside.
"I'm not gonna make it. Go" You say.
Cara contradicts you. My eyes are filled with tears and somehow I feel betrayed. I knew you as a Mandalorian and you never told me who you were. I still wonder, do you remember me?
IG manages to rip off the sewer bars and you tell us to leave you. I can't, I don't want to.
I see you look at me, and with a heavy heart I hear you speak my name. It sounds so sad, sorry. And I understand you. You remember me, as I remember you. We were inseparable, and like plucking a flower from the ground, we were ripped from each other again. Goodbye, my sweet sweet friend.
