she actually goes with him, on his trashy car to the trailer park, attempting small talk about how he’s day went and if he liked any subjects or minded if she rolled the window.
slowly, awkwardly, the conversation flowing, both relaxing in each other’s presence, and it strikes him with relief and shame, how badly he had perceived her before: as the haughty privileged brat or the shallow self-important prom queen.
Much as society and class would have them believe, underneath it all, when they had these little talks, she was not really different from him or any other teenager.
