Work Text:

That fateful day started like any other day. Shion was woken up by his mom gently shaking him, and then he got ready for his part-time job at the florist shop around the corner. He said goodbye to his mom and left.

His soulmate mark stung enough to make him flinch, it had been hurting him for the past few days, but today was much worse. If what Karan said was true, then he would soon meet his soulmate for the first time.

I wonder what their like. Shion thought to himself, as he scratched the little mouse shaped mark on his wrist.

And from there the day continued as usual, he helped customers find the right bouquets for their special occasions, when his shift was over he returned home.

Upon entering the bakery, his soulmate mark burned as if someone had set said mark on fire. He heard someone else curse very loudly, looking around rapidly, he saw a long haired man hunched over one of the tables.

Karan hurriedly made her way towards the customer and then noticed her son holding his soulmate mark, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Shion, what's wrong sweetheart?" she asked, concerned heavy in her voice.

"The mark…" Shion choked out.

Just then the stranger whipped his head around to look at Shion, there was recognition in both the customer's and Shion's eyes. This customer was not actually a stranger, it was Shion's childhood friend, Nezumi. This made sense since Nezumi had moved away before either of them had turned 16, before either of their soulmate marks appeared.

Karan understood what was happening in that moment, stepping to the side so the two could relieve the pain both were feeling. She smiled as the two boys held hands and finally the pain stopped for both. She left them to catch up, happy that her son had finally been reunited with his soulmate.

"Where have you been?" Shion asked, his hand still entwined with the other's.

"Just ya know, around." Nezumi answered, staring at where his and Shion's hands connected. The red sphere soulmate on his wrist now making sense.

"I'm glad it's you." Shion whispered, more to himself than his soulmate.

Nezumi smiled and thought to himself, me too.
