Chapter Text
A normal outing with 1-A wouldn’t be normal without an attack or something of the sort happening right? Even with the implementation of the school dorms, students still needed to go out and do stuff they needed. And in this case, they all went out as a group.
Aizawa, having experienced the chaotic nature of his class and their knack of attracting trouble, decided to come along with them this time. He made it a point for them not to split up and to always stick together in his line of sight. He expected them to protest a little since he’s kind of treating them like toddlers, but thankfully they’re all mindful enough to take his worries into consideration.
The day seem to go smoothly and with no trouble since they’re now on their way back to the dorms some of them chatting about the day or what they bought, just simple conversation. It seemed that Aizawa jinxed the peaceful outing by even thinking how quiet the day has been.
Bakugo ever the observant person that he is was quick to notice multiple suspicious figures following them which he didn’t fail to notify Aizawa backed by others. Not long after, they’re now surrounded by a group of men wearing suits.
The teacher had an inkling of a feeling that they’re a part of some organized crime that the police or heroes have not weeded out. His suspicion was confirmed when one of the men spoke.
“We got ‘em guys! Make sure to secure the target so we can secure an alliance or just a ransom if all else fails!”
Aizawa only raised a brow at these men’s blatant stupidity of blurting out their plan like that. No way would authorities miss sloppy organized crime groups like these, or were they just expendable pawns of said group. Either way, squeezing info from them will be his priority.
Getting into stance, he sensed his students do the same. “I’ll handle them. Be on the defense and only interfere in the worst case scenario.”
A few mumbles and a distinct growl were heard but none protested. Aizawa jumped into action and quickly incapacitated two of them by a hard kick and his capture weapon wrapping them up and smashing them on the ground.
He felt his heart skip a beat when the ones still up pull out guns and pointed at them. At the corner of his eye, he saw Kirishima using his quirk and pulling everyone behind him. Aizawa has faith in his quirk since he’s actually seen it in action against fire arms.
With their arms outstretched, he easily wrapped his capture weapon on their arm altogether and pulled making them drop their weapon. As if on cue, everyone went into action and tackled the unarmed men, namely Midoriya and Bakugo while the others followed suit because of course they would.
Activating his quirk, he made sure for the suited men on the ground to not use their quirk to hurt his students attempt an escape. But he was surprised to see his students handcuffing the men with quirk suppressing ones.
Aizawa looked back and saw Yaoyorozu making more just in case and sighed in relief. At least these problem children didn’t jump in without a plan.
And just like that, another day ruined by an attack targeting 1-A or specifically one of them. With the amount of students with him, it’s pretty hard to deduct but he can find that out later once investigation starts.
With a heavy sigh, the group all collapsed at the common room’s couch and chairs some even on the floor. “Can’t we catch a break?!” Kaminari exclaimed from the floor draping his arm over his eyes.
“What happened?” Uraraka asked as she walked towards where Midoriya and Bakugo were seated with Iida following her.
“Some fuckers decided to jump us.” Bakugo declared straight to the point.
“WHAT?!” everyone in the room shouted except of course the ones who went through it.
“It’s true! A bunch of guys looking like a bunch of yakuza or mafiosos just appeared out of nowhere and said to take one of us!”
Kirishima’s statement earned a gasp from a few of them. “I-I’m very sorry everyone.” Yaoyorozu spoke up voice shaking a little. “I-it might have been me they were after.”
The girls were quick to come to her side and comfort her. “They mentioned ransom and I just-“
“Come on Yaomomo, this likely isn’t your fault. Our section is just so unfortunate to always run into these things.” Uraraka consoled while handing Kouda’s rabbit that hopped to their direction in his command.
“Besides even if they were after you, you and the rest of us were able to apprehend them thanks to your quick thinking.” Midoriya added.
“The ransom was their second option; I heard them say something about an alliance first.” Kaminari said sitting up.
“Tch more like blackmail.” Bakugo scoffed
“So they wanted one of us to blackmail another group for an alliance?” Kirishima asked for confirmation.
“That would seem to be their preferred outcome but if it doesn’t happen they’ll just hold them for ransom.” Midoriya said “We are technically one of the most well known figures in the country right now, but what would any of us do anything with forming an alliance or even ransom with the exclusion of Yaoyorozu-san but then again Kacchan’s been kidnapped before…”
“There he goes.” Mina commented as they all watched Midoriya fall into a mess of mumbling and muttering.
Meanwhile, the UA faculty was having a meeting with Detective Tsukauchi discussing the recent happenings and has also come to the same conclusion.
“So any ideas on who they’re after?” Aizawa asked itching to know who he should keep an eye on.
“The easiest and most obvious answer would be Yaoyorozu, but focusing on that without much evidence won’t do any good. So we called the parents of the students present to inform them and ask if any of them know anything.” Tsukauchi explained.
“Well?” Aizawa asked with an eyebrow raised.
“They all said to know nothing but said that they’ll look into it.”
“Looks like the league is on the move again or worse…” Nezu said
“A new group is out for blood.” Aizawa finished before standing up. “I’ll go ahead and tell my students. Will that be all?”
“That will be it for now. You’re all dismissed.” Nezu said and they all quietly left. As silent as Toshinori was the whole meeting hoping that whatever this group is, he hopes they’re not after Izuku because he’s his successor. If he was he’s concerned how these people got such classified information.
Inko Midoriya was walking back and forth in her living room thinking about the recent call she just received about her baby getting attacked by men who were confirmed to be part of a criminal organization. Those words were enough to send chills down her spine as she desperately wished that wasn’t the case.
She looked at a piece of card in her hand, on it was just one contact number and nothing else. Though the situation is worrying enough for her, she can’t help but reminisce.
Inko was still a college student happily walking home with her good friend Mitsuki back to her dorm room. Going in, she expected to just have another silent night spent on writing and studying. But what she didn’t expect is to see her disowned older brother.
He may have been disowned by her parents, but not to her. She would regularly talk to him whenever she could behind her parents’ back. Usually online though, not in person.
“Verde?”
She took a good look at him and still recognized his unruly green hair his green polo along with a white tie though it seems that he decided to go without his lab coat for now. “What brings you here?” she asked a hint of excitement in her voice.
All that excitement was washed away though when she sensed the serious atmosphere around him. “I’m leaving.”
“Oh? Where to?” Inko asked, him leaving town is pretty common after all.
“Out of the country.” He stated matter of factly making her speechless.
“Wh-where-“
“It’s best for you not to know.” He said looking at her “You know I’m in a world that’s not entirely safe. Both for me and people connected to me.”
“R-right, well we can just call and-“
He once again interrupted her “I’m cutting communication off too.”
Inko could only look down in sadness “So…this is it?”
Silence fell between them for a few moments which was interrupted with Verde grabbing his lab coat that she just noticed was lying on the table where he grabbed a card. He walked towards her and tucked the card in her hand. “Call that number when your gut says you should. You somehow possess outstanding intuition.”
She studied the number with a blank face. But when she felt a hand on her head, she felt her eyes tear up before looking up at his older brother who let out a chuckle at the sight of her teary expression “You haven’t changed.” Inko dove for a hug which he lightly returned.
After that, he wordlessly left leaving her alone, clutching the card.
Looking at that very same card, her intuition keeps telling her to call. But she told herself it’s too early to do anything. What if this attack was just a coincidence?
But what if it isn’t?
What if it doesn’t have anything to do with Verde’s world?
What if it does?
What if
What if
What if
Inko took a deep breath and calmed her mind and decided to trust her intuition as she always does when she get indecisive like this. But before that, she should check on her baby.
Taking out her phone, she dialed her son.
Back at the UA dorms, everyone was listening in on Bakugo talk with his mom on the phone. They weren’t really eavesdropping; it’s just that he makes it easy to listen in with all the shouting. They could even hear his mom even if it isn’t on loudspeaker.
Midoriya himself can’t help but be entertained also. But his phone also rang and just as he predicted, he saw his mom’s caller ID.
“Looks like it’s your turn.” Kirishima teased who just got out of a call with his mom.
Midoriya chuckled before answering Uraraka and Iida beside him low key curious. He expected a barrage of worried words and stuttering from his mom af course sniffling and crying so he prepared to comfort his mom. Even his friends beside him were prepared for it.
“Izuku.” The calm and collected tone from his mom was not what he expected. Her tone was powerful it was heard by others in the room. Bakugo who just hang up looked at him.
“Mom?”
“Are you okay?”
“Y-yes. Aizawa-sensei made sure of it.” He heard his mother’s sigh of relief but her voice continued to be stern.
“Your teacher has briefed us already but let me ask. What did the group want from you students now?”
Midoriya gave a quick summary of everything he knew before he got more questions from his mom “Did you notice anything on their person, an emblem, a badge?”
“K-kind of, but I’m not so sure.”
“I see…”
“Mom?” he asked with worry “Is everything alright, are you okay?”
She chuckled and cooed a little at her son “Everything will be alright.” She said in a lighter tone “I’ll call you again later or tomorrow okay?”
“Alright.”
“Goodnight darling, I love you.”
“Love you too.” He said and waited for his mom to hang up.
“The hell was that?” Bakugo asked
“I-“ Izuku looked down at his phone “I don’t know either.”
Somewhere in Italy, there is a man busy with mountains upon mountains of paperwork of the recent missions him and his guardians just went through. His work is closely watched by a man beside him who dons a recognizable fedora with curly sideburns who happens to be his de facto consigliere though he insists he’s only his tutor.
His work was interrupted by soft knocking. The man in fedora looked at the boss who looked ready to receive the guest.
“Enter.” He says with his deep voice and in came their green haired genius holding his phone that is his only contact to his family back in Japan. That in itself got the boss’s attention since it’s where he’s from.
“I received a call from my little sister.” He puts the phone on his desk as if to invite them to look at the call logs “She says there were suspicious men who her intuition says to be after her son.”
“Hoh~ never thought I’d get to hear about your nephew til later on.” The man in fedora said.
The boss looked at the phone before speaking “You can depart tonight back to Japan. You can take Lambo with you. I and the others will follow you back there when we’ve made sure that everything’s in order here.” He said as he typed away for someone to have the flight ready.
Verde gave a curt nod before heading out t pack leaving the boss and consigliere on their own “Why Lambo?”
The boss gave a small smile “His nephew is around Lambo’s age no?”
The man only hummed in response “That was a quick response from you. Do you miss Japan?” he teased with a smirk
“Perhaps, but I’m more concerned for Verde’s family. And he’s our family now, Reborn.”
“Soft as ever huh, Dame Tsuna.”
“You know me.” Tsuna said leaning back and looked at a frame of him, his guardians and the whole family. Standing up he stood in front of it. “You mess with my family,” he took out his gloves and put it on his hands, eyes glowing orange, hints of ember starting between his brow before lighting to orange flames.
“You mess with the Vongola Decimo.”
A few days have passed and no appearance of the suspected organized crime group so far. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up for debate though 1-A thinks something is brewing with their lack of appearance.
So as they continue their student life, they continue to be vigilant especially when they’re out of school grounds that and because they’re instructed to do so especially those who intern under heroes that require them to be on field.
Which is the case right now for three trouble magnet students. “That’s it for the week huh?” Midoriya said as an attempt to start a conversation.
Todoroki decided to continue the conversation “Good, I got tired looking at that old man’s face recently.”
Bakugo scoffed “Welcome to my world.”
All three paused their walk out the building when they heard a familiar chuckle. Toshinori was standing next to a car waiting for them and amused at his student’s casual conversation.
“Shotgun!” Midoriya exclaimed and ran to the passenger seat.
“Hey! You already rode shotgun this morning!” Bakugo said trying to outrun the greenhead but Midoriya was too quick and shut the car door on his face locking it instantly preventing Bakugo from opening it.
“Get in everyone, we best be on our way. It is getting late.” Toshinori said getting in the driver’s seat.
Bakugo grumbled as he got in the car while Todoroki did so silently all while excellently hiding his tin pout. All Might couldn’t help the fond smile on his face before starting the car and heading back to UA.
The UA staff agreed to personally bring and pick up the students to their place of internship for extra security. One kidnapping is too much and they’ll make sure not to let it happen ever again.
Midoriya who was just looking out commented “The roads sure are quiet huh. You’d expect it to be busy since it’s time to clock out for most.”
That set Toshinori’s alarm bells ringing instantly. Taking a quick glance, it’s like they’re the only moving car around here. The others were quick to notice as well.
“The hell?!”
Todoroki clutched at his case containing his hero suit looking around.
Midoriya who was always notified in his phone about hero news held his phone up “It says here the cops blocked the road.”
“How much you wanna bet those cops have dirty money shoved up their ass?” Bakugo said putting on his gauntlets fully implying what they were all thinking.
“Behind us!” Todoroki’s sudden shout startled Bakugo and Midoriya to look back and All Might to the rear view mirror.
Sure enough there were five black cars all following theirs. All Might sent out a message to all teachers and nearby heroes for help as he sped up the car. “Try not to engage unless they get too close.” He said before looking on the road up ahead making sure that his speed is still manageable enough for any oncoming obstacle.
Sadly said obstacle forced him to hit the breaks since more identical cars were blocking the whole road with suited men standing there. “Tsk” he said before looking back and seeing the cars that were following them corner their vehicle.
“Don’t come out. You don’t know what they have waiting for us once we step out.” Toshinori instructed earning him a nod from all three.
“So those fuckers really were trying to snag one of us.”
“One of you two.” Todoroki corrected. “Neither me and All Might were with you when they first attempted this.”
“Shit” surprisingly enough it wasn’t Bakugo that blurted out a swear word earning a surprised look from everyone. “What do we do now?”
“I called for back up. We just need to keep our distance from them.” As Toshinori was explaining, he saw the suited men take out guns making him widen his eyes. “Get down!” he shoved all boys down away from the car windows.
They all braced themselves for the shattering of glass and the impact of the attack All Might pushed them away from. But all they heard were gunshots and bullets hitting something that gave off the sound of something electric.
Ever the curious boy that he is, Midoriya tried to peak at what’s happening outside only to be abruptly pulled down “Young Midoriya!”
He managed to sneak a glance outside and saw a figure with horns facing off the armed men green electricity emanating off him. And it would seem that All Might himself was surprised once he himself got a glimpse of what he saw.
Outside, a teenager with fluffy black hair that could almost swallow his horns looked at the group with only one eye open his face and behavior emanating disinterest. “Yare yare I thought you lot were looking to get a hostage. Or do you people just don’t use your heads?”
All they could do is stare at him in surprise at the move he just pulled by nonchalantly deflecting the barrage of bullets as if it’s something he deals with on the daily.
“I’m not really here to lecture you guys nor could I be bothered so…” he said before his horns started to glow where small crackles of green lightning can be seen.
In a big flash of green, it momentarily blinded everyone in the area even those within the car. Loud thunderous noise cracked in the air deafening everyone. And almost in an instant, the light faded and the noise disappeared and when it did, All Might gaped at the view once his eyes adjusted.
There outside was everyone unconscious with the boy standing casually in the middle of it all looking around making sure no one can surprise him. Even the cars didn’t escape his power with signs of electric scorch marks right where the engines are.
Todoroki, Bakugo and Midoriya can’t help but get curious about what happened especially after seeing All Might’s expression. So at the same time, they all tried to take a look and were just as surprised as their teacher.
Looking into the car where he’s standing, he saw the students and recognized them from the sports festival and their feats. He sighed while looking around the unconscious men “Did you all think you can take them with whatever you had prepared?”
He told to no one in particular since they’re all out while the people in the car wouldn’t be able to hear him. He put his hands in his pockets before walking over to them. Despite his help the four of them remained vigilant because he could be anyone.
“Halt!” Lambo heard before his arms were tied to his sides by a sturdy cloth. Looking at the source, he saw a long haired man looking at him menacingly.
Lambo blinked his one eye innocently before taking out his hands from his pockets and raised them up. Well, raised as best as he could as someone who has their arms tied.
Looks like this guy is someone they know because the students and the man with them all came out and felt at ease. And before he even saw them, he heard others coming over. Heroes and perhaps UA teachers.
Once they all got there, all of them had the same reaction of surprise at the situation and with him in the middle looking suspicious.
Aizawa looked at the young man and sensed no retaliation from him whatsoever. He can see that he has taken out the bad guys here but he’s still an unpredictable variable. He’s quite thankful that the kid didn’t retaliate at him wrapping him up in his capture weapon giving him the impression that he’s at least not worried of getting arrested. Hopefully he’s not worried because he knows he’s in the right side of the law.
“Who are you?” Aizawa gently asked since the boy does not seem hostile.
“I’m Lambo,” he introduces his deep voice somehow startling Aizawa a bit. And now that he got a good look at him, he possesses European traits so probably a foreigner. “Just a hero trainee passing by hoping to help. I’d take out my provisional license if I could but with how I am right now…” he wiggled a bit as a gesture “can’t really do that.”
Aizawa let the capture weapon unfurl letting him go. Lambo quickly reached to his back pocket and pulled out said license presenting it to him. Looks like his hunch was correct because the license was issued by the Italian hero commission. After returning it, Aizawa spoke “We appreciate the help, though that was quite reckless of you.”
Lambo only shrugged “These guys are technically Italian criminals so I took them down.”
That statement got Aizawa’s brow raising. “Could you elaborate?”
“My agency heard that there was some attempted kidnapping here in Japan and they have reasons to suspect that they’re from a mafia group that escaped here.” Lambo explained before pulling out a card “My handler can give you all the details, might as well call him now too since I found them.”
Midoriya watched as the guy gets questioned by Aizawa. “Curious little listener?”
“Ah!” he jumped a bit, startled. “Uh y-yes.”
Present Mic leaned down “I listened in, you guys just got help from a foreign hero student,” he said quietly but everyone near him heard clearly.
“Really?!” Midoriya said sparkles in his eyes excited at the fact that there’s some international heroes present. Well…hero in training.
“Does he have an answer on why they’re targeting a student?” Todoroki asked curious as well.
Present Mic gave a thumbs up “They just set up a meeting. You guys will probably be called in for it or maybe filled in later.”
Midoriya once again curiously let his gaze fall on the stranger who sensed his stare and gave him a small wave. Midoriya flinched a bit looking around if the gesture was indeed for him only returning a small wave back when he confirmed.
After that brief interaction, he was led away by Aizawa to take care of what they needed to do. Watching him walk away, he felt the others watching along with him. That and he can feel the ominous aura of Bakugo’s frustration for not being able to participate in kicking the mafioso butt.
When the three of them got back to the dorms, everyone at the lobby once again crowded them asking them how they were in concern.
“This is awful! This should never happen again are you okay Deku?!” Uraraka asked frantically looking him over making sure there aren’t anything broken.
“Midoriya you should refrain from going out from now on it’s like you attract trouble!” iida said his arms doing its trademark shopping motion.
“I think that’s already been established.” Ojiro commented on the side while also looking over the three guys.
“Bakubro were they after you again?!” Kirishima came barreling through before grabbing Bakugo in the shoulders and shaking him which earned him a punch but he knew what was coming and managed to defend himself using his quirk.
“Get off me you asshole!” Bakugo successfully got out of Kirishima’s grip but was then greeted by the crushing hug of Mina and Kaminari.
“Kacchan don’t make us worry like that!” Kaminari wailed
“Yeah why didn’t you fight back?!” Mina said tightening her hug
Both of them somehow managed to say just what he didn’t need to hear. After a tic mark appeared on his forehead, you can hear a loud explosion in the background.
Both Todoroki and Midoriya didn’t pay any attention to it as they accepted the warm beverage Satou offered them.
Tokoyami went up to them and held up the remote. “Why don’t you guys take a look at what happened, they’re replaying everything in the news.”
Midoriya and Tooroki nodded at each other before heading to the TV while Bakugo struggled to walk back with them as Kaminari and Mina held onto his legs.
There on the news showed everything that happened clearly at points where they couldn’t see much with All Might making them duck for cover. Everyone with them all leaned over when the horned guy made an appearance all of them interested in what he did.
There they clearly saw him holding a shield that deflected all of the bullets keeping their vehicle safe. And to their surprise, the shield vanished in a flare of green flames. They could see him talking to them but then his horns started to glow green and cracks of lightning could be heard. Then that familiar flash of light enveloped the screen before disappearing and showing what they all recognized back then.
Midoriya’s hand twitched as he watched the guy’s quirk at work. Realizing he still has his bag with him, he quickly pulled his notebook out and started writing rapidly earning a few chuckles from around him.
“Who was that guy?” Tooru asked
Todoroki who was near her answered “We didn’t really get to talk to him, but Present Mic said he’s a hero student like us only from Italy.”
That got everyone’s attention in the room sans Midoriya who was still buried nose deep in his notebook.
“Are you serious?! You’re telling me those guys are actual mafia people from Italy?” Jirou said
“Might be.” Todoroki’s short answer got them all a little disappointed with the lack of answers to their question.
Midoriya who was starting to finish with his noted joined the conversation “I think it’s very likely. I couldn’t hear them well but when he was talking to Aizawa, I heard a little bit about his handler coming over for the case.”
“Woah! I hope we get to meet him! This will be our first time interacting with a hero student from another country!” Mina said
“You just thought he was cute, Mina.” Tooru teased making Mina stick her tongue out in her direction playfully.
“No matter what, I’m glad we got more knowledgeable people on this case and handle it. And I’m glad they were able to keep you guys safe.” Momo finally spoke up. She won’t lie she felt relived after discovering it wasn’t her they’re after and her presence alone didn’t endanger her classmates. But on the other hand, she’s even more worried that a classmate of hers is targeted once again.
“Sooo…which of the two of you were they after, kero?” Tsuyu tilted her head.
Tsuyu bringing up a new heavy topic got everyone ready for another deep discussion, especially since it concerns the safety of their peer. Not to mention the fact that the previous kidnapping victim is one of the potential targets. Before they could even get started, the sound of the front door opening got all their attention.
In comes in Aizawa who immediately took notice of his class gathered in one area “You problem children better not be planning anything reckless.” He scolded.
That got everyone stuttering and flailing trying to deny whatever his assumption was. In the midst of the chaos, another followed Aizawa in the dorms.
The familiar sight of that black hair along with the horns attached to the ever winking individual who is giving off the vibe of someone who is tired and just wants to rest—one might even mistake his demeanor as complete disinterest if it wasn’t for him curiously looking at the group of students in front of him—had all of them slowly settle down and look him over.
“It’s you!” and explosive shout rang out through the room as Bakugo stomped is way over to the guest with Aizawa keeping a close eye trusting his student won’t cross the line. “You’re that guy who thinks you could handle the whole thing on your own!”
The guy’s singular open eye blinked at him “Well, I technically did.” He responded not really phased by his loud behavior.
Bakugo was about to say something but was interrupted “Alright that’s enough.” Aizawa said placing a hand on his shoulder. “I think and introduction is needed in the meantime.”
“Everyone, you’ve all probably heard or seen him in the news by now, but best to know who he is. This is Bovino Lambo, he and his handler were sent here when they heard of the attempted kidnapping before.”
With a small smile, he waved at everyone which had everyone at ease since his demeanor changed to a friendly one. “The principal said for me to wait for Verde here. I hope you don’t mind the intrusion.”
They were all a little surprised to hear the foreigner speaking fluent Japanese. They didn’t have to struggle talking to him in a different language so no misunderstandings here. Phew!
Midoriya perked up when he heard a familiar name “Verde?”
“My handler.” He turned to look at who asked the question and tilted his head “You’re Midoriya right?”
“Y-yes”
Aizawa beside him let out a groan knowing where this goes if Lambo recognized him. “Don’t tell me.”
Lambo only nodded. The rest of the students who were watching the interaction easily put two and two together and they all looked at Midoriya who was already sporting a blank look trying to comprehend what just was implied. Uraraka and Iida tried gently shaking him to no avail.
“Problem child.”
Lambo watched as Midoriya get comforted by his classmates. This is the best way he can relay the information since a lot more heavy stuff will get revealed later. He lets them do their thing while he stands a distance away from the group. Aizawa has gone out to wait for Verde.
Deep inside he can feel a small ember of fury. Those assholes really had the audacity to involve people related to someone part of their famiglia even when Verde himself hadn’t contacted them in years. They can ask for mercy all they want but the Vongola Decimo will not let such a thing be glossed over.
He has to thank CEDEF for appropriately preparing all his fake documents as a hero student or else he might’ve joined the other mafiosos. He doesn’t mind putting up the act to solve this problem and to make sure it never happens again.
Lambo closed his eye while he stands idle, leaning on the wall for support. It didn’t take long before he felt someone walking towards him. Opening one eye, he saw a buff student holding a mug towards him. “I hope you don’t mind hot chocolate, it’s what we have already prepared.” Satou offered shyly.
Lambo smiled as he took the mug “You’re too kind, thank you.” He says before taking a sip closing his eyes in bliss “It’s great!”
Satou sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck before giving him a nod before leaving. Lambo continued to sip his beverage while keeping an eye on Midoriya.
Naturally, Verde has made no mention of his extended family. The most he knows of Izuku right there is that he’s Verde’s nephew and that’s where Verde’s knowledge stops considering he left the country when his little sister was just in college. But knowing Verde, he thinks it’s safe to assume that Izuku might have inherited some of Verde’s smarts.
Just when he almost finished his drink, he noticed everyone calm down over the now mumbling Midoriya which he deduced is a normal thing. ‘Hm, I’ll have to watch Verde if he has that habit and is just good at hiding it.’
Since they think he’s fine now, he approached him and his friends “Ciaossu,” he tried imitating Reborn deeming the phrase to be casual and somewhat of an ice breaker.
“O-oh! Lambo right?” Midoriya responded now broken out of his mumbling tirade.
“That’s me.”
Based on Midroriya’s serious expression, he assumed he was about to ask about the case but then he noticed his attention shift to his horns which then distracted Midoriya from what he was supposed to as “Your quirk was so cool!” Midoriya said with sparkles in his eyes “How does your quirk work?! It’s the first time I’ve seen a cow or is it a bull, mutant quirk mixed with lightning!”
Reaching for his notebook, he held it out to Lambo fully intending to just present it to him but his excitement seem to have made him unaware of the space between them and ended up smacking Lambo in the face with his notebook who stumbled back a little and one of his horns falling off.
Everyone in the room noticed this exchange and they all just stared at the fallen horn which they assumed was supposed to be connected to Lambo’s skull.
Midoriya looked down in horror thinking his strength managed to knock a horn out of his head. In an instant, Midoriya assumed the dogeza position “I’M TRULY SORRY I DEEPLY APOLIGIZE I DIDN’T MEAN IT!”
Lambo could only look down in surprise. Before he could even say anything, utter chaos broke loose.
Midoriya’s freak out brought on a chain reaction of students running around in panic trying to check if he’s alright some saying to call Recovery Girl. Lambo chuckled before pulling his other horn off successfully getting their attention once again “They’re not real horns, they’re more similar to a support item.” He says before picking up the fallen horn and then attaching both.
Leaning down, he offered a hand to Midoriya “No need for that.”
“Holy shit that freaked me out!” Mina said while holding her own horns trying not to imagine what it would feel like if it gets knocked off.
“My apologies.” Lambo smoothly took her hand giving it a light kiss “I’ll make sure for it not to happen again.”
On the side you could see Mineta grinding his teeth mumbling something about another pretty boy.
Just when they all were calming down, Aizawa once again came in along with a guy in a lab coat with wild green hair. One look at it and everyone stole a quick glance at Midoriya trying to confirm if the similarities they were seeing weren’t something they imagined.
And surprisingly—or not—Midoriya Inko came walking in too which hammers in the fact that Izuku is indeed who they’re after. Izuku initially was worried only imagining how his mother would react to this news especially with how she gets whenever he gets in trouble. But she’s surprisingly calm this time.
Looking at the man beside her, he could deduce that he’s the Verde she occasionally tells him. Not in detail just in passing like how he’s smart like her older brother Verde. So meeting his uncle who his mother remembered in fondness has him a little excited. Though the circumstance on their meeting is less than ideal.
Izuku ran to his mother and gave her a light hug interpreting her silence as something that’s beyond worry and used the gesture as a way to comfort her. Looking at her she only gave him a light smile before turning to the man with a lab coat.
Aizawa told the students to give them privacy as they will be discussing some sensitive information. If the students who were involved wish to participate they could. Izuku was not at all surprised when everyone who was in that early outing all stayed whilst the others walked off mumbling and some with a pout.
Midoriya, Bakugo, Kirishima, Momo, Kaminari, and Todoroki all sat attentively with Inko sitting beside Izuku while Lambo, Verde, and Aizawa stand in front of them.
“I’ll get straight to the point. I’m Verde and I’m the reason why Izuku here is targeted.”Verde informed them just as he said.
“Excuse me?” Aizawa spoke up from his ominous statement his tone demanding an explanation.
“Lambo and I work for CEDEF. An intelligence agency in Italy that has a few run ins with multiple types of groups and people, namely the strongest mafia family in Italy, Vongola.”
The mention of the fearsome name got everyone in the room gasping while Aizawa squinted his eye all too familiar with the name especially their very skilled hitman who he had the unfortunate opportunity to run into. He could only get a glimpse of him in a sea of surprisingly unconscious bodies since he’s considered the strongest hitman in the world. He thought he’d have to brace himself to see a bunch of dead bodies fortunately it wasn’t the case. Good. Saves him time from multiple therapy sessions.
He digresses. Vongola is something he hoped his students didn’t have to encounter Vongola until they’re at least a few years in the game. You know what he would prefer it for Vongola to disappear and for his students to never deal with them ever. Oh well, a man can dream.
Unbeknownst to the teacher who was silently curing Vongola in his head, two high ranking members were currently standing in UA.
“I have to give it to this famiglia for doing their homework. I went through a thorough process to cut off and hide anyone related to me in the public.” Verde explained “Basically, they want blackmail on me to get them in touch with Vongola so they can get their precious alliance.”
Verde glared at no one in particular “They’re probably a small group trying to attach themselves to a big name to do whatever they want.” He’s seen those before, good thing the Vongola Decimo’s intuition could see through them, but he’d argue anyone can figure them out when you’ve had experience in the mafia world.
“So what’s the plan?” Todoroki spoke up.
“None yet. We’re sent here to scope out the situation if it’s our business. Now that we’ve confirmed it, we’ll give a call to our boss and act according to his orders.”
Before anyone can speak up about the lack of planning, Lambo added “He’s been meaning to handle it himself from the start; he’s just finishing up some business back home. He’ll probably be here by tomorrow.”
“That’s good to know. Keep me posted on any updates that come your way.” Aizawa instructed to which they both nodded to.
Meanwhile in a random warehouse…
“What are we gonna do?!” we spent so much of our resources on that chase!” one man ranted
“Have you seen that horned guy that stopped them? He’s got a high rank in the famiglia if the rumors around his appearance are true. So we got their attention!” another reasoned
“Well we can kiss that alliance goodbye cause I’m getting the feeling that one of them stopping us is not a good sign!”
“We still got that ransom option.”
“Except we DON’T HAVE A HOSTAGE TO HOLD FOR RANSOM!”
As they continue to bicker, they failed to notice a figure in the shadows silently watching them “A herd of herbivores.” He raised his tonfas “I ought to bite you to death.”
Just as when he was preparing to jump them, his earpiece crackled to life “Not yet, Hibari. Let’s try not to directly involve Vongola just yet. We’ll let CEDEF handle it in the meantime.
“Hmph, even the CEDEF can easily handle a case like this, omnivore”
Tsuna sighed “I’ll allow you to do vigilante work in exchange then.”
Kyoya smiled at that “Like I needed your permission.” He said before running off to wherever.
Tsuna sighed once again before turning to the people with him “Kyoya found them.”
“About time.” A sliver haired man spitted.
“Maa maa, can you find them faster?” a man with black hair teased.
“Hell yeah I can you baseball freak!” the silver haired man shouted his hand hovering over where he has dynamites hidden all while the other man laughs at the face of danger.
“Gokudera, Yamamoto, not now.” Tsuna said dejectedly his hands reaching for a bundle of papers. “Let me work in peace.” He pleaded.
“Apologies, juudaime.” Gokudera said with complete remorse.
“My bad my bad.” Yamamoto said with a smile scratching the back of his head sheepishly.
Tsuna gave them both a thankful smile before a resounding “EXTREEEEME!!!” was heard from a different part of the jet. Tsuna groaned, burying his face in his hands.
While Inko explains her involvement in the case, Izuku and Verde sat beside each other, awkward silence tormenting them. His friends found it reasonable to leave them alone since they figured they haven’t met before and they may want to get to know each other.
Lambo curiously watched the two, more specifically Verde. He doesn’t want to miss seeing him like this you don’t get to see this every day.
Izuku who had enough of the suffocating silence tried to start a conversation “Uhm, do you make support items?” he asked genuinely curious. It’s just a guess that somehow made sense to him because of his lab coat and…actually that’s about it. He’s trying his best okay!!!
Verde gave him a brief look before responding “That’s correct, it’s my specialty.”
“Really?! I have this acquaintance in the support department maybe she can get some pointers from you!” Izuku said with excitement.
“My job back in Italy is quite a lot so we’re planning on resolving this as fast as we could. Even Lambo has his own hands full.”
“Speaking of Lambo, did you make his horns?” he asks his hand hovering on his notebook which is a gesture Verde didn’t miss.
Determined not to give away too many secrets, he carefully chose his words “The thunder set was not invented by me, but I did contribute to some upgrades to what it is today.”
“I’ve only seen what’s shown in the news and the support item fit him so much it looked like it was naturally a part of him! You must have researched his quirk a lot to get a good grasp on what upgrades to implement!”
“…Indeed, his quirk was easy to understand…for me.” He said the last part silently hoping for the kid not to catch on. He’s displaying a great amount of knowledge, and he thinks some of his genes might have been passed to his nephew then he must be smart to an extent.
“I get that, I love observing quirks and thinking f ways to improve it is like solving a never ending puzzle, especially if the wielder has so much potential! I have these notebooks that I write in just for that purpose…” and just like that Izuku is mumbling up a storm.
Lambo could only watch in fascination his one eye wide open. Verde and his nephew are polar opposites but their brains sure have some resemblance. As he watched, he sensed the others trying to watch their interaction too.
They all were intently watching until they heard Aizawa clear his throat to get their attention. “That’s enough spying for now. You all better get to your rooms. It’s getting late.”
“Inko why don’t you and Izuku head down for the night? Lambo and I still have things to take care of.”
Understanding that as him telling her he has business none of them should be involved in, she ushered Izuku away and asked him to show her his room which he reluctantly obliged looking back at his uncle who he just met.
Verde didn’t mind Aizawa’s presence as he called CEDEF while also signaling for Lambo to call Vongola on the down-low while he has Aizawa’s attention.
Under the guise of getting something to drink, he silently pulled his phone out to give his boss a call. Lambo carefully watched the entrance of the kitchen as he waits for the other end to pick up.
“Lambo?”
“Tsu-nii,”
Aizawa has been in this industry for a long time now. While the two new people seem trustworthy, especially one of them being a relative of his student, he can’t help but notice the glaring red flags.
Namely, the fact that this Verde guy has not been in contact with Izuku’s mother for years and has suddenly appeared to help in mafia matter. Second, the young man Lambo. While Vongola have been secretive of their high ranking members, there are circulating rumors about who they are and their appearance since they seldom appear in the public eye. And that Lambo kid fits the exact description of the Lightning Guardian even his title matches his quirk.
He dreads the fact that a kid the same age as his students already has such a high position in an infamous and dangerous group could be true. If that’s the case he’ll have to pry the kid from their grasp.
Their affiliation with the CEDEF has been verified by Nezu himself but he’s caught a glimpse of what the CEDEF was like once. They were an intelligence agency who collects information through unorthodox means. Meaning, they would sometimes cooperate with other mafia families. And the knowledge of CEDEF having contact with Vongola before makes him more suspicious.
Even Lambo’s ID and paperwork were all connected to CEDEF. It would be very convenient for them to provide fake documents for things to go so smoothly right now.
Speaking of the kid, he went to the kitchen and checked on him. And there he is with an empty glass and is now fiddling with his phone. But judging from the faint sound coming from the phone it looks like he was only playing with it.
“Hey kid,” he waited for him to look at him before continuing “There are some empty rooms in this building mostly on the second floor. You’re welcome to occupy one of them.
He noticed him visibly perk up at that before pocketing his phone “I appreciate that, thank you sir.”
And with that he led him to an empty room who he saw plop down the bed before closing the door. He’ll talk to him later about his concerns.
Two hours. Lambo stayed in his bed for two hours. He thinks it’s enough time for that teacher to stop checking in on him. And when he’s positive that there won’t be any more check ins, he silently climbed out the balcony being mindful of his surroundings making sure there aren’t any stray passerby to witness him.
Tsu-nii and the others just arrived and he was informed of their meeting place. He can count on Verde to keep things occupied here.
When he got there, he wasn’t surprised to see Basil and Lal Mirch here with Tsuna and the guardians since Vongola is solving this with the CEDEF cover.
“Lambo” Tsuna greeted ruffling his hair basking in the warmth Tsuna provided.
“Let’s keep this brief. We’ll borrow Lambo for a bit before rushing back to the school.” Lal Mirch immediately went into business “Colonello already has the location Hibari provided surrounded.”
“Lambo, keep everyone in…”
As Lal Mirch explained away, Verde does his best to keep Aizawa occupied. “So they’re on their way?” Aizawa asked Verde who just put his phone down.
“Either that or they’re already here handling things.” Verde says making Aizawa look at him suspiciously.
“I think it would be preferred if CEDEF got some of UA’s input.”
“They probably would if they have a student as hostage, but it’s not the case right now so they’re taking action.” Verde says before pocketing his phone “Or probably because CEDEF’s CEO is excited to come home to Japan for his ‘Tuna-fishie’.” Verde expertly covered up.
Aizawa has heard about that. Iemitsu Sawada is known among his employees as a great boss and a softie for his family. Though with how long he has heard about his son, that ‘Tuna-fishie’ is probably an adult by now.
“Yes he’s an adult,” Verde says as if he read his mind “he actually took care of Lambo when he was younger.” He’s noticed his interest in Lambo. No doubt this man has some suspicions already especially for an experienced hero.
“He did?” Aizawa tried to sound casual but winced when he sensed a hint of interest in his voice. His occupation sure has made him soft on kids.
“Quite the tragic story on him. He was trained as a hitman in the Bovino famiglia before he was taken in.”
Aizawa looked down “I’ve heard news about them. Something about having powerful firearm arsenal. Heard authorities can’t touch them cause they’re Vongola allies.”
“Exactly the case.” Verde answered with a smirk “Though I have to admit, they have some interesting firearms considering the stuff we found on him.”
“He was carrying weapons?!” Aizawa asked now with obvious worry.
“Oh yes. He can use them like a normal adult would who has handled firearms for as little time as him.” Verde found Aizawa’s horrified look entertaining and decides to double down “He was five years old.”
It’s fascinating to see a hardened hero’s shoulder slump in exhaustion just from words. He can understand him, he’s experienced the chaos the youth brings with them, especially the tenth Vongola generation.
“Well at least he’s in good hands now.” Aizawa says with a pointed look towards him making Verde think his theory about him being suspicious has some backing.
After that, Verde drowned out the silence with jargons about his inventions and research, ones where he found useless conclusions and with little information about the famiglia. And with him not bothering to use layman terms, it will be difficult for someone not in his workplace to understand the words he was currently spouting.
Is he taking advantage of the inherent politeness of this man? Of course! Does he feel bad? Not one bit. Besides, his quirk is a great research subject. And with their short interactions, he’s collected plenty of data not available to the public.
The amount of time he was walking flew by and they didn’t take the amount of time that has passed into account until they heard Midoriya call for them when they heard the elevator ding.
“Sensei!” Midoriya handed his phone over to him “I got a notification from the hero news a few hours ago, but I only checked recently.”
There in big headlines, ‘Italian agency took initiative in suspected mafia activity!’
Seeing there’s a video attached to it, he immediately opened it. The video shows above the warehouse where he can clearly see and hear the chaos going on inside. But that didn’t get his attention, it’s the green dome containing everything inside with small crackles of green lightning is what he was looking at the whole time finding it very familiar.
Remembering where it’s from, he quickly stood up and ran to the room where Lambo was staying in. He heard Midoriya call him in confusion before following him.
Without even knocking, Aizawa barged in the room their guest was staying in and was thankful that the door wasn’t locked. The loud bang of the door had Lambo sitting up in his bed in surprise and looking at Aizawa with confusion who also looked back at him with confusion.
“Wh-what is it?” he asked his voice groggy and rubbing his eye.
“My bad. But it seems that things have been resolved.”
“O-oh is that so?” Lambo says scratching his head. “What does Verde has to say about it?”
“I just wanted to check on you. I-ll…I’ll go down now.”
“I’ll come with then.”
Aizawa thought about it for a bit before nodding and heading out with Midoriya still a little confused but has come to his own conclusion. Seeing that the green dome is pretty similar to Lambo’s that’s probably what it is.
It wasn’t a surprise to see Verde busying himself receiving calls. He could only imagine since he figured Verde is a high ranking employee. If he really is a CEDEF employee and not a mafioso using the CEDEF.
“Has it really been resolved?” Midoriya asked Lambo
Lambo only shrugged putting his hands in his pockets “They’re probably scheduling a meeting if there’s more but if things are fine then we’ll just finish things up here.”
Just in time, Verde hung up and turned to Aizawa asking for a meeting with Nezu. “Oh, looks like we’re finishing things up.”
“Really?” Izuku asks interested and Lambo was happy to inform.
“Usually when we need to do more things he’ll just storm out dragging me with him…and probably quickly tell the other person in the room what’s happening…probably.”
“Does he usually do that?”
“He’s usually holed in his lab tinkering whatever this is the first I’ve seen him in months actually.”
“Lambo!” Verde called put as if sensing him bad mouthing him.
“Coming!” Lambo gave Midoriya a salute before handing over a paper with a contact number on it “Give it to your mom.” He asked before leaving with Verde who was on his way to the school building.
A few days later, everyone was watching the news about everything that happened summarizing everything into a compact story and a few missing details saying that the group was a runaway mafia group in Italy that hid in Japan with the goal of returning to Italy’s mafia world by getting in contact with a relative of a CEDEF employee which remained anonymous which Izuku greatly appreciated.
Izuku doesn’t mind himself on the news, but his mom doesn’t deserve to be a public figure when she didn’t want to be.
Once the segment completed, everyone watching sighed “Guess that’s resolved for now.” Kaminari says leaning back on the couch.
“It’s a little strange since UA wasn’t involved as much especially with one of us 1-A was involved albeit involuntarily.” Momo said.
“Would’ve been nice if we could train with Lambo! I’m curious if there are differences and similarities between how different countries are like with raising heroes!” Kirishima exclaimed.
“Who knows, maybe this whole thing will kickstart a nice relationship with UA and the agency that trained Lambo.” Midoriya speculated.
“Oh! You think so? It would be nice to meet more future heroes.” Uraraka says.
“Did horn guy tell you that too?” Mina asked excitedly
“Uh, n-no but it’s more like a feeling that’s not the last we’ll see of him.”
Meanwhile in the Vongola base in Japan,
“This case is very curious.” Tsuna says observing the reports “There’s no way these people even survived a day in the underground of Italy with their organization. It’s almost as if…” he paused turning to his consigliere “as if it was chaos.”
That statement earned him a chuckle from his tutor “Reborn!” he exclaimed
“I figure we should return to Japan to contribute in the oncoming chaos. I miss pestering that old bastard.”
“You say that as if All for One is just another of your student you torment.”
“Of course you would know.” Reborn says with a smirk recalling the days he kept shooting him in the head.
Tsuna silently turned to Verde who was also present who only gave him a shrug “Can’t really stop him when he already went with it.”
Tsuna sighed in exhaustion “At least Lambo got acquainted with some new people.”
“Don’t let Ipin meet Endeavor’s son. He shares traits with Hibari and Fon that she would definitely explode with love for.” Reborn states before leaving the poor Vongola boss.
