Finality and her Soul

Summary:

Part 1 Finale spoilers, chapter35!

Kiana has an important conversation with Seele and 'Seele'. This follows the rough continuity of my previous works--Kiana and 'Seele' have a pre-established relationship.

Notes:

Following the conventions of my previous works, 'Seele' is used to refer to Seele's other self and identify the pair independently.

Work Text:

Kiana didn’t want to disturb them after they had been a part of an exhausting battle, so she waited, resolving to only use her authority to bring both of them to her mind space after their rest. She also wanted a better feel for using her authority with such a special existence, so she cautiously poked and prodded with her Herrscher senses until she was certain she had felt the pair out sufficiently. When she was ready, she started.

Seele and her other self appeared, side by side. A moment of disorientation would follow, but she made sure to impress a thought into them.

“It’s Kiana, you’re okay.”

After that, she preferred to speak and interact ‘normally’.

“Kiana! It’s lovely to see you.”
Seele hugged her, though her other self turned away.
“Hehe, it’s lovely to see you too.”
Kiana held her tightly for a moment, then walked over to ‘Seele.’

“‘Seele,’” she gently reached for her hand, but in the next moment, ‘Seele’ had turned heel and slapped Kiana across the face with all the force she could muster.

“Idiot! Stupid. Ugh. Fuck off.” She might’ve screamed these words at some other moment, but right now, her voice was closer to a whimper.

“Ah!” Seele was surprised by her other self, and though she reached out to Kiana, Kiana shook her head.

“It’s ok, I understand,” Kiana smiled, and tried again. “‘Seele,’”
“I’m done here. Let us go.” If she knew how to leave, she very well might have.
“I won’t keep you, especially if you don’t want to talk to me, but,” Kiana spoke softly, “I’d like you to hear me out at least.”

“Don’t you get it? I heard about what happened. Not that you told me. I had to wait until Seele talked to Bronya to know if there was any chance of ever seeing you again because of whatever stupid, idiotic thing you always do.”

“I’m sorry to have worried you, ‘Seele.’”
‘Seele’ remained clearly agitated.

“I wanted to figure a few things out, so that I could make sure I didn’t hurt you by trying to bring both of you here with a new power.”

“Goddess of Earth my ass,” ‘Seele’ murmured bitterly.
“Ehe. You’re right. I’m not very good at this, yet.”
“…”

Seele had made her way to her other self’s side, and hugged her. “Dear, you should talk properly. Kiana, is it possible for you to chat privately with her?”

“Ah. Yes, I’ll get in touch with you again too, Seele.”

Seele disappeared, leaving just her other self. As soon as she felt the most familiar presence leave, she took in a sharp breath and trembled. Tears started falling a few moments later, even as Kiana hugged her from behind.

“It’s ok. Would you turn this way?”
‘Seele’ turned, but immediately put her face into Kiana’s shoulder, throwing her arms around her as she did so.

“Idiot. Idiot idiot idiot.” She whimpered between sobs, futilely pounding her fist against Kiana’s back.

Kiana took her cheek in one hand, nudging her slightly to face her, to which she seemed to have given up resisting. Their eyes met, tear-soaked as ‘Seele’s were, and Kiana licked her tears off of her cheek.
“Stop...” ‘Seele’ protest was dispirited, so Kiana took her chin in hand next. As if her body knew nothing else, this prompted her to close her eyes. Kiana’s response was to kiss her softly.

‘Seele’ responded by dragging Kiana into a rough, impassioned kiss of her own, letting her emotions out. She held Kiana tight and aggressively bit and nibbled on Kiana’s lips and tongue whenever she could, venting frustration. A few moments later, she pulled herself away and turned away from Kiana again.

“That was a lovely kiss.”
“You don’t deserve it.”
“‘Seele,’ if you wanted, you stay here with me,” Kiana spoke, this time nearly whispering into her ear, “but, I think both Seele and Bronya need you.”

“Why would I want to stay with an idiot…” ‘Seele’ murmured, as if to herself.
“Because you love me.”

Her ears turned red, and a new wave of tears threatened her eyes.
“I’ll be back soon, ok? Bronya can also bring you here to visit me.”
“Mmm.”
“You’re such a good girl. I really don’t deserve you, huh.”
“…”
Kiana pet her hair and ‘Seele’ began to lean against her.
“I’ll definitely make it up to you, so… keep them company for me, alright?”
Kiana gently held her chin once again, and this time ‘Seele’ pushed into her with a kiss. It was much softer, and much saltier, thanks to it being mixed with her tears. A moment later, she would pull away, wipe her eyes with her arm, and kiss her again. This messy, emotional disaster routine continued for some time, until ‘Seele’ had no more tears to wipe away.
“Are you ready to go back?”
There was a brief moment of silence.
“…I love you, Kiana.”
“Ehe. I love you too.”

It would be a little strange for most, but ‘Seele’ had never, until this moment, said those words so plainly. Kiana had always spoken them so lightly, why couldn’t she? ‘Seele’ didn’t understand herself, nor did she understand Kiana, and perhaps that was the type of love that it was: a wonder, a fascination, and a desperate desire to find oneself in another.
