From Dawn to Dusk

Summary:

Diluc is like “I’m not gay” and basically rejects you and Kaeya’s like “lol, I am” and you 2 make out in Angel’s Share in front of diluc

Notes:

Please say you get the title. It’s like since Diluc is kinda like Dawn, I made Kaeya Dusk and like you kinda move on from Diluc to Kaeya. Anyways Kaeya is so pookie

Work Text:

“Diluc, would you like to attend Windblume with me?”

“Dear Archons! Diluc, that looks rather heavy, would you mind if I gave you a hand?”

Barbatos, why wouldn’t you leave him alone? He hates it, those lovesick stares you gave him, that stupidly sweet smile that always appeared after you said sickeningly sweet words. He’s not as blunt as you think, he’s aware of your ‘little’ crush. He just wants it to go away. Master Diluc is a busy man, since the death of his father, it’s been his duty to keep the winery and tend the tavern, not to mention his nightly ‘activities’, he’s no need for love, though of course he has gone on a few dates with the acting grandmaster, but those ended once Jean found her own soulmate, a certain librarian.

Now, he can’t help but give you a look of pure disgust as words he dreaded spilled from your lips

“Diluc, would you want to go on a nightly outing with me? Err, I mean a date, specifically.” Your face was tinted red as a shy smile played in your lips.

“No.” He flatly said
“I’m not looking for love right now, and if I were, it would not be with you.” He watched as you seemed to deflate with every word he said.
“What I want, is for you to leave me alone.” He finished, not bothering to wait for a response, he walked off to who knows where, not wanting to see your pathetic expressions.

——————————————————————————

He’s staring. Why is he staring? He always made it prominent how he dreaded how you’d seem to become a bit more chipper when he paid the smallest bit of attention to you, and now he’s doing it, but you’re not even acknowledging him!
He’s staring at you swinging his brother around, how you’re giving Kaeya that same lovesick stare you used to give him, and Kaeya seems to adore it, now leaping out of your arms, taking your hand, as you and him now run around Mondstadt, looking for more Windblume activities to enjoy.
Diluc hates it. He didn’t want you running around with Kaeya. He could feel envy gnawing at his nerves, trying to brush it off as he’s just nervous about attending at the tavern tonight.

Charles is currently on shift as he walks in, the employee suspiciously becoming a bit more enthusiastic now that his boss is here. As he’s preparing to go behind the counter he hears an all too familiar giggle and turns his head to see a tipsy Kaeya engulfed in your arms and a tired nun rolling her eyes and drifting her attention back to her wine. That feeling is back again. He watches as Kaeya lifts his head up, his eyes meeting yours.
No.
No.
He’s silently praying to Barbatos nothing will happen, the two of you are simply friends. Friends don’t look at each other like that. And they certainly do not kiss each other. Diluc Ragnvindr, The Darknight Hero, The Uncrowned King of Mondstadt, stares at the man he quote on quote “hates” kiss his brother, and it wasn’t a drunken kiss either, it was one full of passion and promises, and as he watches the two of you pull apart, cheeks red, and eyes full of adoration, he now feels something he hasn’t felt since his fathers death. Loss.

Diluc had thought he hated you, that you annoyed him. Those silly things you did were not endearing at all yet he can’t help but miss them as he now watches you reenact it with Kaeya.
Diluc wants to be the one to hold your hand.
He wants to be the one to make you giggle and blush and wants you to run into his arms whenever you see him.
He wants to hold you, tell you about his hopes, his dreams, everything.

“It seems that’s too late.” He muttered bitterly, now realizing what a fool, how ungrateful he’d been.

It’s no fun to return to a lonely winery, have a lonely dinner, then sleep in a vast and barren bed.
For his own sanity, perhaps he’ll dream of you.
From dusk to dawn.
