Chapter Text
It has been five years since he lost everything to Kawaki’s betrayal. He lost his parents, one of his eyes, and his life, and his sister, Hima, turned against him for “murdering” her mother and father. Now, Boruto has been labeled as an s-rank missing-nin—the most wanted shinobi in five great nations since he was twelve. He also got five Kages hunting his ass for “killing the Seventh Hokage”.
Seriously, what an unlucky life Boruto has.
If it wasn’t for the Momoshiki Otsutsuki offering him a safe and secure place for him from the murderous Kages and everyone that was hunting his ass, he would’ve died a long time ago. Without a doubt, the most brutal and miserable death as possible.
The imagination of his gruesome death at the hand of his father’s friends, whom Boruto had been seeing since he was a boy, gave him nightmares for a few months into hiding.
In exchange for his safety and a secure place, Boruto had promised Momoshiki Otsutsuki to give up his body and mind. His sole request for Momoshiki is training him in his best abilities to refill his revenge against Kawaki. Boruto does not care what price he would pay in exchange for his revenge. There was nothing in the world that Boruto wanted other than getting his revenge against Kawaki for taking everything from him.
The intensive training took him five years for Momoshiki to determine that he was finally ready to fight Kawaki. The five years of training have hardened a now seventeen years old Boruto’s heart. No longer a happy-go-lucky boy anymore—it has been replaced by a cold, angry, and bitter man.
“I will be going, sensei,” Boruto said, putting on his black cloak and placing his Kanata into his pitch-black sheath belt.
“I expect you to return here within two months,” Momoshiki said callously. “If not, I will find you and take what is mine by force.”
“I will not fail.”
Boruto then left his safe and secure place for the first time in five years.

When Boruto finally arrived on Earth after being on the moon for five years, he noticed something was different. It was not the gravity difference—it was something a lot stranger. A chill in the air.
Boruto furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. Something was wrong—very wrong, and Boruto was determined to find out what.
He weaved hand signs to produce a singular shadow clone. His clone appeared from the smoke and looked at him questionably.
“I want you to search a nearby village,” he ordered his clone. “Something is not right, and I want you to find out why. Make sure you keep the henge on.”
His clone nodded. “Yes, boss!” Before disappearing in a flash.
Boruto sighed as he looked around his surroundings. He then bends over to his knees and touches the grass to feel the odd sensation of the grass touching between his fingers. He has not touched actual grass in years.
“Five years, huh?” Boruto muttered to himself, staring at the trees whose shaking their leaves into the wind. “I wonder what had changed.”
It wasn’t until five minutes later his clone reappeared again, but his face was looking grim. “Boss, I doubt you will be pleased to hear this news.”
“Tell me what happened,” Boruto ordered his clone. “I need to know now.”
His clone sighed. “Everyone in the village…Is gone.”
Boruto froze. “Everyone?”
“Everyone.” His clone nodded. “Not even a rat could be seen.”
Boruto tensed. How could it be? A whole village disappeared without a trace? What the fuck happened in his absence? Could it be related to Kawaki and Kara?
Whatever happened here, Boruto is determined to find out what happened here and find Kawaki as soon as possible.

Boruto waved off his clone, and then his clone poofed into smoke. He saw a teddy bear on the ground—an item his clone had left behind. Boruto then closed his eyes to unravel what his clone had seen and why did he leave this behind in his place.
His clone was jumping tree by tree until he stopped on the tree branch when he saw a village merging in the distance. He was not too far away from reaching the unknown village.
“Henge!” His clone said as he weaved hand signs for the justu.
POOF!
His two whiskers and well as his blonde hair disappeared. His blonde hair was replaced by indigo-colored hair—a similar color to his late mother’s beautiful hair before she cast away along with his father for good by Kawaki.
His clone nodded, satisfied at his henge form because he knew no one would recognize him completely. In addition, he has been gone for years. No one knows what he is supposed to look like at seventeen years old.
He then jumped off the tree branch and landed safely on the ground. He does not want to give them a shinobi vibe to the villagers causing them to be wary of him.
As he walked another mile, by the time he was closer to the gate, he finally realized something was not right.
It was too quiet. Something is wrong. The village is impossible to be quiet.
“What?” His clone muttered, astonished. As he looked around the village from the entrance, he could not see anyone as far as he could tell. His clone then activated his Jougan to see if there was chakra nearby.
However, to his disappointment, he could not see anything from his Jougan.
“What the fuck happened here? Where is everyone?” His clone said, started to look for any clues of abandonment, but he didn’t find any. Though, he did find something that interested him.
During his brief investigation around the village, he spotted a teddy bear lying on the ground. Something tells him that this teddy bear is the key. So, he followed the instinct that never failed him, Boruto activated his Jougan, and this time he saw something that was not seen from before.
He can see a little bit of chakra—easy to miss—scattered around the teddy bear.
“Eh?”
He checked again to make sure he was not hallucinating.
It is still there.
The clone is sure that he can’t sense any life from the teddy bear, so why does the Kami this teddy bear contains a tiny charka?
Interesting. Whatever this teddy bear is, it must be more dangerous than he thought. Perhaps, this teddy bear was the cause of the village’s bizarre disappearance?
“Tch,” his clone muttered under his breath as he stared at the teddy bear, growing uneasy. “It must have a lot of chakras when it was first used, and why there is less charka now…”
“Whatever it is, it must be an actual clue on what happened here,” He pondered carefully, putting the teddy bear inside his black pouch bag that was strapped around his waist alongside his sheath belt.
Boruto opened his eye as he caught up with his clone’s memory. He stared at the teddy bear on the ground.
“Interesting…” He said, bending over to grab the teddy bear. “You must be the reason…However, who could have this much chakra to obliterate an entire village? Should be impossible.”
Old memories immediately flashed in his mind as he recalled he met many cases that would be regarded as “impossible”. He remembered he traveled back in time to protect his young father from an Otsutsuki who was after the Nine-Tailed Fox’s chakra with his former Master, Uchiha Sasuke, meeting Kara for the first time and Kawaki taking everything from him by reversing roles.
Boruto then shook his head, “no, it is possible. However, the question is why and who could have done this?”
Boruto sighed, seemed like he got no choice but to activate that justu he learned from Momoshiki Otsutsuki. His chakra will be drained as he used this justu, but it is worth the price. He needs a day of rest to regain his chakra.
Boruto weaved hand signs: Boar—snake—horse—ram.
“Otsutsuki Style: Worldwide View!” Boruto said, activating his Jougan.
He can’t sense any massive chakra in the Land of Earth, Lightning, Water, and Wind… However, he can sense massive chakra in the Land of Fire.
Only one answer came to his mind: Konohagkure.
Boruto made a pained grunt as he turned off his Jougan. “I see…Konohagkure is one at fault for this anomaly.” He muttered under his breath before collapsing to the ground.
Notes:
Otsutsuki Style: Worldwide View is like a Byakugan, but even more powerful due to Boruto using his Jougan. He can use this justu to see the entire five nations at once to sense any chakra from any shinobi—however, with the price of using this justu, it can drain your chakra quickly by use. It would take you a couple of days to weeks to recover the chakra you lost.
Since Boruto carried a quarter of Uzumaki blood in him, he has a little more chakras left over from using this justu. Thus, it is why it would take him a day to recover rather than taking him weeks to recover.
