Work Text:
hakeem ruffled his hair, examining every strand he could manage to find. he’s been spending at least an hour with the pocket mirror, sitting criss crossed on his bed. then, he went through 3 stages of grief trying to figure out the right way to style his current hair. it’s getting longer and hakeem felt insecure with the length.
plus, the teachers are already starting to give him a hard time with the hair.
he huffed at one stray strand of hair and it went back to slap his forehead. hakeem whined and decided to spend another hour in front of the mirror. he promised not to do anything else until he’s found a solution.
kahar on the other hand, was too busy staring at him. with his elbow propped up against the bedsheets, he rested his head on his hand, knowing well hakeem was too engulfed in his own little world. the latter didn’t even notice kahar in the room. he’s been busy stressing over his hair; to which kahar doesn’t understand why.
to kahar, hakeem looks perfectly fine.
kahar likes the way it cradles the latter’s face, the way it swirls under the chilly wind, the way it manages to hide the nape of his neck well so no one could suspect the love bites kahar gave him the night before, and the way it compliments hakeem so, so well.
to kahar, hakeem is so, so, so beautiful.
everytime he glances at the other, kahar couldn’t help but to fall in love again.
also, he hates seeing other people touch or play with hakeem’s curly locks. whenever they would ruffle or entangle their fingers on the latter’s hair, kahar ended up messing hakeem even harder afterwards. his hair was perfect in terms of length for kahar to pull around. not like hakeem was complaining though.
whenever the latter would put his hair up in a man bun, it did a few irreversible damage to kahar’s heart. hakeem shouldn’t be exposing his neck so freely around kahar; that man would be painting every nook and cranny with his bite marks. maybe hakeem grew his hair out because of kahar. couldn’t be his fault, hakeem’s neck was asking for it anyways.
kahar watches as hakeem pushes his bangs back, with a few strands falling down back to its place. hakeem was frustrated but kahar was practically enjoying the view. he likes how a few droplets of sweat could be seen on the latter, he likes how nice hakeem’s hair smells and how soft it is to touch, he likes how hakeem never seemed to complain whenever kahar messes his hair over and over again.
he likes hakeem.
the sound of the door being opened finally snapped kahar out of his trance, not realising he was close to salivating. zahrin went in and kahar gave him a quick nod, acknowledging his presence. hakeem on the other hand, is still busy playing with his hair.
“weh, rin. kau ade gunting tak?”
the latter spoke, tossing the mirror away. zahrin shot him a confused look, but still searched for it anyway. as he was about to pass it over to hakeem, kahar immediately got up from his bed and tackled the latter. startled zahrin took a step back and watched hakeem yelped.
“JANGAN KEEM, AKU INSAF.” kahar yelled and clinged onto hakeem’s waist for dear life. zahrin put the scissor back to its place, not wanting to deal with the consequences of letting hakeem cut his hair. he gave the latter an apologetic look before sprinting out of the room; leaving hakeem to deal with the problem again. as always.
hakeem sighed and patted the other’s back, seemingly trying to persuade him. kahar wouldn’t give up, he clinged onto hakeem’s waist tighter, letting out fake cries.
“KALAU KAU GUNTING RAMBUT, AKU BOTAKKAN KEPALA AKU.”
“dah la, kahar.”
