Work Text:
Craig Tucker was standing in the hallway of South Park Elementary, waiting for the bell to ring. He sighed as he looked around, trying to find a way to pass the time. His gaze fell on Tweek Tweak, who was walking down the hall with his usual nervous energy. Craig scowled as he watched him, remembering the fight they had had months ago.
It all started because of Cartman and his stupid friends. They had come up with a scheme to get Tweek and Craig to fight, just for the hell of it. Tweek had been the one to throw the first punch, and Craig had retaliated with a hard hit that knocked Tweek to the ground. Ever since then, Tweek and Craig had been on bad terms. They barely spoke to each other, and when they did, it was always tense and hostile.
The bell rang, and Craig walked into the classroom, followed by Tweek. They shared a glance, and that was enough to escalate things into an argument between the two.
Craig glared at Tweek, his dark eyes piercing into Tweek's own anxious gaze. "Why do you always have to be so damn annoying?"
Tweek huffed, his hands shaking with anxiety. "I'm not annoying! You're just a jerk! You always think you're better than me!" Tweek said, glaring at him.
"Well, maybe if you actually paid attention in class instead of freaking out all the time, you'd have better grades," Craig retorted, equally as annoyed.
Tweek scoffed. "I don't freak out all the time! And just because you're good at science doesn't mean you're better than me."
Craig rolled his eyes. "Whatever, Tweek. Just keep telling yourself that."
Their teacher, Ms. Stevens, interrupted their argument as she assigned their new project. "Alright class, you will be working in pairs to create a presentation on a topic of your choice in the field of astronomy." Tweek and Craig were paired up, much to their dismay. They didn't think they could work together without arguing.
"Great, just my luck," Tweek muttered under his breath as he stood up. He saw Craig sitting at their assigned table and scowled. "What are you looking at?"
Craig rolled his eyes. "Just trying to figure out how we're going to get through this project without killing each other."
Tweek huffed and slumped into the seat beside him. "I don't even know why she paired us up. We're never going to agree on anything."
I frowned and gave him a curt nod and started pulling out my notebook and pencil. We were supposed to be researching astronomy and creating a presentation about it. Tweek was already flipping through a book about stars, muttering to himself.
"So, um, have you ever looked at the stars before?" I asked, glancing down at him.
He shrugged. "No.. not really? I haven't had the time to go out and look at some since I'm always at the shop working and you know my parents! if they caught me going out who knows what will happen! AH, THEY WILL SELL ME TO SLAVERY I DON'T WANT TO BE A SLAVE!" Tweek said twitching and screaming
I looked at him concerned "dude calm down your parents aren't gonna sell you to slavery for going out to see stars" I said in an attempt to calm him down
Tweek looked at me timidly and eventually stopped shaking and screaming "I'm sorry for suddenly blabbering and screaming I can't really control it" he said as he took out his thermos to gulp down coffee
I looked at him for a while, jeez who drinks coffee that much? I thought. "Well, stars are really cool and amazing.." I said pulling out an astronomy book and flipping it to a page about stars. I showed him all the pictures in the book and pointed out different constellations. I glanced at him in the middle of speaking and he looked so mesmerized, he looked pretty.. wait no?! why am I thinking about that?! especially about my enemy! the guy who hit me in 3rd grade! I pushed back all the thoughts into the back of my brain.
Tweek couldn't help but smile at Craig's passion for stars "I like stars," Craig said shyly. "I know it's kind of weird, but I love looking up at the night sky and trying to find different constellations."
"That's not weird," Tweek said, shaking his head. "I think it's pretty cool. I don't know much about stars, but I think they're really amazing! I'd love to see them in person sometime."
I smiled at him. I've never told someone about my passion for stars, and talking about it to Tweek gave me this weird feeling in my stomach that I couldn't explain.
As they worked on their project, they started to become friends. They would talk about their favorite constellations and theories about the universe. Tweek found that Craig was actually a really good listener and wasn't as dismissive as he had previously thought. And Craig found that Tweek was more than just a ball of nerves, he was actually really smart and had a lot of interesting ideas.

They spent the next few days researching and working on the project, but something strange started to happen. As we talked more, we discovered that we had a lot in common. We both loved video games and cartoons, and we both had a fascination with the night sky.
One day, I decided to share something personal with Tweek. "I have a guinea pig named Stripe," I said, feeling a little embarrassed.
"Really?" Tweek asked, looking genuinely interested. "That's so cool! I used to have a hamster named Twinkie."
We spent the rest of the class period talking about our pets and laughing. When Tweek giggled at a joke I made, I felt a strange warmth in my chest. I quickly dismissed it as nothing.

Over the next few weeks, Tweek and Craig found themselves spending more and more time together. They would watch episodes of Red Racer on Craig's phone during lunch, and work on their project in the library after school.
As they got to know each other better, they started to realize just how much they had in common. They both loved spicy food, hated getting up early in the morning, and were both secretly obsessed with video games.
It wasn't until one particularly heated argument that they both realized they had developed feelings for each other. They were in the middle of a disagreement about the best way to approach their project when the bell rang, signaling the end of class.
Tweek gathered up his things and started to walk out of the room, feeling frustrated and upset. Craig followed closely behind him, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Tweek, wait," he called out, reaching out to grab his arm. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you."
Tweek turned to face him, his eyes blazing with anger. "You always do this," he spat out. "You always think you're right and you never listen to anyone else's ideas."
Craig looked taken aback, but he didn't back down. "That's not true," he protested. "I just think that my way is the best. But I'm willing to listen to other ideas too."
Tweek glared at him for a moment longer before letting out a sigh. "I don't know why we always argue like this," he muttered. "I guess we're just too similar."
Craig nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I guess we are. But that's not a bad thing, is it?"
Tweek looked up at him, his heart beating faster. "No, I guess it's not," he said softly.
They stood there for a moment, just looking at each other. It was like time had stopped, and they were the only two people in the world.
Finally, Craig broke the silence. "Do you want to come over to my place and watch Red Racer tonight? I just got a new episode."
Tweek's heart skipped a beat at the invitation. "Yeah, that sounds great," he said, a smile spreading across his face.
As they walked out of the classroom together, Tweek couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. He had never hung out with Craig outside of school before, and he wasn't sure what to expect.
But as they settled onto Craig's couch and started watching the episode, Tweek felt himself relax. They laughed at the silly jokes and cheered on their favorite characters together, their arms brushing against each other in the process.
As the night wore on, Tweek found himself feeling more and more comfortable around Craig. They talked about everything from their favorite music to their future aspirations, and Tweek realized that he was falling for him.
It wasn't until the end of the episode, when Craig turned to him with a small smile on his face, that Tweek realized the feeling might be mutual.
"I had a great time tonight," Craig said softly. "Thanks for coming over."
Tweek felt his cheeks flush as he looked up at him. "Me too," he said, his heart beating faster. "Maybe we could do it again sometime?"
Craig's smile widened. "I'd like that," he said, reaching out to take Tweek's hand in his own. "Maybe we could work on our project some more, or just hang out."
Tweek felt a surge of happiness at the touch of Craig's hand in his own. He squeezed it gently, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort spread through him.
As the night drew to a close and Tweek prepared to leave, he realized that he had never felt this way about anyone before. He didn't know where their relationship would go, but he was excited to find out.

Over the next few weeks, Tweek and Craig continued to grow closer. They worked on their project together, went on walks around town, and watched movies together on the weekends.
But despite their growing feelings for each other, they both hesitated to take things to the next level. They were both afraid of ruining their friendship, or of being rejected.
As we worked on the project more and more, Craig found himself looking forward to seeing Tweek in class. He enjoyed their conversations and the way he smiled when we figured something out together. Before he knew it, they had finished the project and received a high grade. Craig was ecstatic, and he asked Tweek if he wanted to go stargazing as a victory celebration.
"Hey, Tweek," I said, feeling a little bold. "Do you want to go stargazing with me? To celebrate our victory, I mean."
Tweek's face lit up. "Yeah, that sounds great!" he said, his voice high-pitched with excitement.
As we walked to the park that night, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I had never hung out with Tweek outside of class before. But as we lay on the grass, looking up at the stars, I felt a sense of peace.
"Craig?" Tweek said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah?"
"I really like spending time with you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
I turned to look at him, and before I knew it, I blurted out, "I like spending time with you too."
Tweek smiled, and something in my chest tightened. I couldn't deny it anymore. I had feelings for Tweek.
As they lay on the grass, looking up at the stars, Craig couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. He was happy to be here with Tweek, watching the stars twinkle in the sky. And then, as Tweek giggled at something Craig had said, Craig felt a sudden flutter in his stomach.
He realized at that moment that he had feelings for Tweek. He can't continue denying it anymore. It wasn't just friends anymore, he wanted more. He turned to Tweek, who was still giggling and took a deep breath. He had to confess.
"Tweek," he said softly. "I have something to tell you."
Tweek turned to him, his eyes wide with curiosity. Craig took another deep breath, trying to calm the butterflies in his stomach.
"I like you, Tweek," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "More than just as a friend."
Tweek's eyes widened even further, and for a moment, he didn't say anything. Craig felt his heart sink, thinking that he had made a mistake. But then, Tweek smiled at him, and Craig felt a surge of hope.
"I like you too, Craig," Tweek said, his voice soft and shy.
Craig felt a rush of happiness wash over him, and he leaned in to kiss Tweek. It was a slow, gentle kiss, full of promise and hope for the future. As they pulled away, Craig felt a sense of relief wash over him. They had gone from enemies to friends to something more, and he couldn't be happier.
"Hey, Craig?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for being my science partner."
Craig chuckled. "Thanks for being mine, Tweek."
