Work Text:

it was raining hard that day.

the sound of raindrops hitting the floor kept naim and amirr awake in their room. each droplet manages to get them thinking through and through. thunders and lightning strikes can be heard across the field; every possible tree in the area wouldn’t stop swaying due to the harsh cold wind.

naim laid on his bed, shirtless. it was his unlucky day; the man ran out of clean shirts to wear. not like naim forgot to do his laundry or anything, it’s just that the weather forbids him from drying his clothes properly. right, naim just happened to plan poorly, nothing to do with his hygiene. he sighed and wrapped himself around his blanket, looking like a human burrito.

it was unbearably cold in the room too. the thin blanket isn’t helping naim in this case; he was stressing out. he would’ve thrown a petty tantrum but naim figured he should stay grateful from still having a couple of clean underwear and pants. or else, it would’ve been more awkward.

naim buried his face in his pillows and muffled a frustrated scream, catching his roommate’s attention. amirr raised his eyes brow out of curiosity, wanting to know why his friend was acting erratic in such a calm evening. yes, amirr is a heavy rain lover; he loves the smell of after rain.

his roommate on the other hand, seems to be having trouble adjusting to the weather. amirr watches as the latter struggles to move in his blanket, rolling around the bed aimlessly. naim kept repeating the action for five minutes, trying to act cool.

amirr decided to shrug it off and continue reading his book. then, he heard a loud thump hit the floor. he closed his book immediately and went to look after naim, who was now on the floor, face first; his blanket torn.

naim let out another muffled scream as amirr laughed.

“kenapa ni, naim?”

he grabbed onto the latter and sat him back to his bed. naim puffed his pink cheeks in annoyance, letting amirr check his body for any injuries. he was fine, but the feeling of embarrassment wouldn’t be gone sooner or later. his eyes followed every movement and touch that amirr made, liking how warm the other felt against his skin.

seeing amirr up close sent a thousand signals to naim. his heart started beating fast, cheeks now flushing bright pink, his palms wouldn’t stop sweating profusely too. naim was panicking internally.

then, amirr caressed naim’s cheek, worried to see it change colour so suddenly. it pulled the latter out of his trance, subconsciously making his cheeks flushed in a deeper colour. naim thought amirr was being too close; he couldn’t resist that man being so gentle with him. he could’ve pounced on the latter any moment now.

amirr tapped the back of his hand on naim’s forehead. “tak panas pun. kenapa merah sangat muka kau?” he shot the other an odd look. naim gave him a sheepish smile as a reply, awkwardly rubbing the nape of his neck. “takde ape la mirr, aku okay je.”

lies.

naim was far from okay. he’s dying from shame. he wanted to deem this the worst day he could’ve ever had. he cursed himself and his poor planning skills!

amirr nodded his head slowly, trying to process the answer naim gave him. it wasn’t convincing enough, so amirr asked again. “also, engkau kenapa tak pakai baju ni?” he crossed his arms to his chest, side eyeing naim. he knew that every time it would rain hard like this, naim would immediately put on double layers of t-shirts and let himself be swallowed in the warmth of his bed.

there’s none of that usual naim today.

“baju aku tak kering lagi,” the latter answered, avoiding to meet the eyes of the man in front of him. naim fiddled with his fingers nervously as he waited for amirr’s reply. he’d hate to see his roommate upset.

“lah, cakap la. aku ade banyak. sabar jap aku bagi.”

amirr laughed and jokingly hit naim’s arm; the other was surprised with his reaction.

he stood up and went to his locker, searching for a few clean t-shirts for naim to wear. preferably, the ones with long sleeves.

being with the latter long enough made amirr become hyper aware of everything he does or wears. as far as he can remember, naim rarely wears short sleeves; it’s not like he has things to hide, that man just prefers long sleeves better. amirr never heard or seen the latter complain if it’s too hot with the sleeves. moreover, naim looks good in everything so amirr couldn’t care less.

naim waited patiently on his bed, eyes tailing amirr’s every movement. he likes seeing the other so full of focus; that side of amirr is so attractive to naim. he likes the nurturing and attentive side of the latter. every single thing amirr does made naim’s heart full.

“nah. aku ada ni, pakai la dulu.”

amirr handed him two shirts with a smile. naim obediently took them, mumbling a shy thank you for the other’s aid. amirr let out a soft chuckle and ruffled the latter’s hair. he likes naim’s casual hair better than his school one. it’s more comfortable and less tense. it’s more naim.

as naim put one shirt on, amirr went back to lay on his bed.

thunder strikes again, the rain isn’t planning to stop any time soon. it feels like time stopped for a while, making room for the both of them to enjoy their evening.

the shirt fits fine on naim; although the shoulders are a bit loose, considering that amirr’s figure is way broader than naim’s. it fell down to expose a little bit of his shoulder blade, but naim was grateful he got something to wear.

he heard a stifled chuckle coming from his roommate’s bed. naim’s cheeks went pink again. “nampak pelik ke?”

amirr’s lips curved to a soft smile, he shook his head to reiterate. “nampak comel, naim.”

naim was screaming internally. he shot amirr his classic cheeky smile before examining his torn blanket; how did it get that bad? maybe he was being too violent. naim made a mental note that day; never become a human burrito again.

he tried adjusting the length, making use of the ‘good’ possible sides of the blanket for him to use. amirr shook his head as he watched another one of naim’s shenanigans. he decided to take out his sewing kit and went over the latter’s bed, catching naim by surprise again.

“meh aku tolong jahit. sedih sangat tu.” amirr offered as he put on his reading glasses. it’s been quite some time since he’s ever sewn something; his skills might be rusty but as long as it fixes problems, amirr takes it as a win.

naim scratched his non itchy cheek but handed his blanket over to amirr regardless. he gave the other an apologetic look, worrying if he was making a mess out of amirr’s supposed me-time. the latter’s lips flashed another one of his gentle smiles, scooting closer next to naim to start sewing.

naim rested his chin on the latter’s shoulder, curious to see how it’s done. he noticed how amirr would scrunch his nose up to handle the needles, how amirr’s eyelashes were so long it made naim questioned his, how amirr looks so good in glasses. naim was having the time of his life admiring the other.

he likes what they’re doing right now. the both of them chilling in each other’s presence; no one else there to bother or question them. naim likes being around amirr’s warmth, even the cold and harsh rain outside won’t faze him.

as long as he has amirr, everything will be alright.
