Unraveling A Guarded Heart

Summary:

Liu Qingge fell in love with Shen Qingqiu. It was one of his biggest regrets that he never got to tell Shen Qingqiu before someone else stole him away first and so he swore he'd keep his feelings a secret, not wanting to be rejected as he knew he would be. However, that secret may have to surface for him to get closure.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Liu Qingge was a simple man. He lived to fight, it was his one true love, something that he could always lean on and count on to never let him down. He was asexual, which was seen as strange to many but he didn’t mind. However, he still had romantic feelings. Particularly for one person. And boy did it fucking hurt.

For the longest time after he developed these feelings and then realized what they were, Liu Qingge had tried to gauge if Shen Qingqiu felt the same in any capacity. However, he was too embarrassed of his feelings to actually talk about it to his shixiong and he eventually came to the incorrect conclusion that Shen Qingqiu was 100% straight. This made it all the more heart shattering when he saw Shen Qingqiu slowly accept and reciprocate Luo Binghe’s feelings while he could only watch on in horror and frustration. This was why Liu Qingge hated emotions, they’re messy. He much preferred straightforward fighting. But even then, he couldn’t beat Luo Binghe in a fight which made it all the worse as he couldn’t even vent his anger onto the cause of it. It really wasn’t fair.

Liu Qingge had started to fall for Shen Qingqiu after what all the sect leaders agreed must have been qi deviation, causing his personality to change. He often wondered what his life would be if Shen Qingqiu hadn’t changed, if he wouldn’t have had all of this inner turmoil over the years. But now it was impossible to tell and Liu Qingge felt that all he could do was provide support should Shen Qingqiu need any and look on from afar and he certainly had never expected a day to come where he would be forced to confront and tell Shen Qingqiu his feelings.
