Chapter Text
Trish sighed, he had awoken not long ago, but couldn’t move much. Today was awful, and they knew from the moment they opened their eyes this morning. Their legs hurt, and most lights gave them a headache. It was 5:40 a.m.and they dreaded 6:00. When Samon would rudely wake the four of them up. Well, the one of them, Qi was usually the only one sleeping by then.
He heard a knock on his door. “Yes?” They replied, in walked Upa, standing at barely half the door frame. “Oh good, you’re already awake. Come in here-”, he was cut off as they sighed and spoke blandly, “I can’t”. Upa stopped, “Why?”, concern was hardly traceable in such an even tone. “I’m not sure…”, It was now 5:55, “What can I do, Upa?”. He sighed, walking to the edge of Trish’s bed. He softly placed a hand on their forehead, “You aren’t sick,” Trish opened an eye, looking at the younger behind the hand. “Just a bad day, then?” Trish nodded silently and looked toward the end of their bed. Upa nodded and turned to leave, pausing at the door he spoke, “I’ll sort it out with Samon, you just focus on getting better”. Not even a minute later, Liang had hurriedly rushed in, worry clear on his features, earning him a small smile from Trish. “I’m glad you’re here,” Tish spoke, “Please don’t leave me alone, my thoughts will get very bad if I’m alone for too long…” they trailed off as Liang seated himself on the edge of their cot. A slight frown and sad eyes watched him carefully before he began, “I won’t, love, just try to rest, ok?”. He smiled as Trish nodded and pulled slightly on his red jumpsuit, wanting them to be closer together.
They both moved so Trish’s head was set comfortably on Liang's shoulder, their chests touching as they could feel the others breathing. Trish began, “What about your training? And Samon, won’t he be mad?” they asked, partially muffled by Liang’s clothes. “I'm sure Qi has talked to him, you know how he is with mental health” he responded with a half-hearted joke. He felt the younger nod and they sat in silence once again.
Liang was petting down Trish’s black and gray hair when he felt small tears soak into his clothing. He moved a hand and lifted Trish’s head to see silent tears rolling down their face. However, they refused to make eye contact. He signed sadly, “I hate to see you like this, love…” he paused and smiled softly when Trish looked at him confused as to why he stopped. “Do you want to talk about it?”, he wiped away a few stray tears after the taller nodded.
Trish moved up so he was sitting on the other's lap instead of laying on him. He spoke quietly, but due to their close proximity, was heard just fine. “Uhm, w-well” he choked, “where do I start?”. “Wherever you want to, love, you don’t have to tell me everything, just whatever you think will make you feel better.” he felt Trish nod into his shoulder. “Well, when I was born, my father was happy to have a boy… he wanted to raise me ‘to be a real man’. Though, when the doctors told them that I would be crippled, he got upset. When I was four, or five, I think, he killed my мама.” Liang was taken aback, his boyfriend had watched their father kill their mother? “He since he decided I wasn’t good for anything because of my legs, that he could turn me into his workplace”. They paused, giving Laing time to ask any questions that he had. “Where did your father work?” he asked softly, letting Trish refuse to answer if they so desired. “I’m not actually sure, I just know it was hardly legal and that they experimented on kids like me, whose parents… didn’t want them anymore.” Trish sighed and nuzzled further into the olders clothes, hugging him tighter before continuing. “ I was experiment number 63, my мама and папа were both from different family’s that ate mostly carnivorous meals. My мама, that was all she would eat sometimes. So they wondered, how could, or would, I change if they only fed me raw meat. He internally cringed at the thought, but he stayed silent, opting to let Trish talk as much as he needed to. “I changed, of course, I knew what was happening, they told me. So, I decided to study myself, noticing things they never caught because they only even looked. Понимаете, I’m technically not even human anymore, my genes have been altered so much that I’m not biologically, or scientifically, human. Nor will I ever be…” they trailed off as they leaned back to see Liang staring at him with small pricks of tears forming in the corners of his eyes. “That’s ok though, being human is boring”. Trish smiled and leaned in to give Liang a small peck on his now smiling lips. “Feeling better?” the shorter asked, holding the other's hips in a gentle grip. Trish nodded and smiled a close-eyed smile, “Thanks, sweetheart”.
