Work Text:
“Ei, you don’t have to cry. It’s not like I’ll be gone forever.”
Eijirou wiped his tears at that, staring up at his boyfriend and neighbor, Katsuki, solemnly. “But it’s gonna be a long week, and I’ll miss you.”
“It’s not the end of the damn world.” Katsuki rolled his eyes at him, crossing his arms to his chest. “You can always call and text, you know?”
“I know that, but it’s still won’t be the same as being able to see you in person.” Eijirou frowned. “I got used to cuddling you and waking up to you giving me a kiss and- “
A hand was clamped on his mouth, stopping him from completing what he was about to say as he was met with a slightly bashful looking Katsuki. “Idiot, don’t just fuckin’ say all that stuff in such a public place.”
He nodded, and was about to mumble out an apology until he was stopped when his body was pulled flush into Katsuki’s arms in an embrace.
Katsuki held him tightly, whispering a soft “I’ll miss you too…” by the shell of his ear, and he had unwittingly still as a result, butterflies finding its way around his abdomen for what was slowly but surely becoming like second nature to him.
Much to his dismay, Katsuki had released him from his hold far too quickly than he’d have liked, and he had pouted at that, wanting to savor all the time he could get hugging his boyfriend before the blond would have to leave for his business trip.
“Wipe that sad fuckin’ expression off of your face.” Katsuki pinched at his cheeks, most likely an effort to forcefully remove the frown off of his face. “ ‘Not like you won’t ever get to fuckin’ hug me again once I get back.”
“Wait, we will?” Eijirou brightened up considerably at that. “Katsuki, please, promise me that we will!”
“Yeah, sure...” His boyfriend responded without a hesitation, a faint flush of red coloring his cheeks. “Now get to work, you’re fuckin’ late, aren’t you?”
“Haha yeah, I’m running like an hour late… but that doesn’t matter now, I just wanna see you off.” Paying no mind to his boyfriend’s indignant protests complaining how much of an idiot he was, he continued to speak. “So, uh be sure to take care of yourself, okay?”
“Course I will. I ain’t a damn kid.” Katsuki retorted, and that was the moment the subway had decided to arrive just in time for his boyfriend to step inside. The blond’s expression had shifted into something more forlorn at the sight of it as he turned to address him one last time. “Don’t get into trouble while I’m away.”
“Don’t worry I won’t.” Eijirou replied, sadly watching his boyfriend enter inside the subway. But he didn’t let it show too much, waving Katsuki off with a smile on his face as he did his best to chase after the subway to the most of his human ability.
Eventually, it got to the point where his legs could no longer take him to where the subway was. Though, in the corner of his eyes, he saw how his boyfriend had waved back at him, and that was enough for him to feel even the tiniest bit of contentment in his bones.
```
Hours later was a different story, however, especially with work sapping all his energy until the late hours of the nights, and he had more or less collapsed face front on the wooden floors of his genkan from sheer exhaustion.
It certainly feels quite empty without the presence of another pair of arms wrapping themselves around him as they normally would, but the redhead found himself too drained to take much notice of it as he had drifted off to sleep before he even knew it.
The next day, on the other hand, brought a different kind of problem to the table in which he never thought he’d have to experience.
He had woken up slightly more rejuvenated, and headed his way over to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Only this time, he found that he couldn’t even do so… Because well, his toothbrush wasn’t present from where he would normally place it.
Eijirou blinked dumbfoundedly, confused until realization struck, and he was impulsively already making his way to his balcony.
With ease as he had done before, he started climbing out of his balcony and jumped into the opposite balcony from the ledge he was on.
And with that, he had successfully managed to enter inside his neighbor’s home without the man’s knowledge; something which had caused him to feel a little bit of guilt.
But it couldn’t be helped, it wasn’t like he could just go to work one day without brushing his teeth and it wasn’t as if this would be a regular occurrence— He would just grab his toothbrush and return back to his own home, a simple process to follow.
So why is it that he couldn’t even proceed with such simple task?
He had already retrieved the toothbrush from his boyfriend’s bathroom, yet he still found himself still lingering the room, taking in the surroundings of it and basking in the memories of the owner associated with the apartment— of him and Katsuki just simply relaxing during their free days splayed on the blond’s bed, cuddling and entangling their limbs with one another.
He could feel himself smiling all goofily just by the mere thought of them cuddling, and it was silly because he should have already gotten used to all this.
After all, they’ve already been a couple for almost two months or so now, yet he still couldn’t seem to wrap around the idea that they’re together.
It feels unbelievable that someone so amazing and strong and talented would ever come to reciprocate his feelings, but he wasn’t at all complaining about that; not in the slightest.
He was more than thrilled to be in the presence of someone he likes. And it shows, these days, he found himself spending more and more time in Katsuki’s apartment than his own; something he hadn’t realized until things had progressed to the point where he had accidentally left behind his toothbrush in Katsuki’s place.
But he couldn’t help it, Katsuki just appeared to have a certain magic within him that had never failed to inevitably draw him to the blond each and every time.
And right now, even with his boyfriend temporarily away, his magic was still as strong as ever— bewitching him in some sort of trance in his boyfriend’s room, leading to stay there for longer than he had intended.
```
As the days passed, he had more or less taken refuge in Katsuki’s room. It had all started the day after he had left his toothbrush behind in his boyfriend’s apartment, where it turned out— his toothbrush wasn’t the only victim of his forgetfulness.
The redhead was alarmed to find that he was steadily running out of shirts to wear. In fact, his closet only had around five or six shirts left. He wasn’t sure how that had happened, but he had apparently left a lot of them in his neighbor’s apartment.
It was definitely some sort of weird episode which he had kept privy to himself. During the last three days, he had kept in contact with Katsuki, he had never even mentioned anything about his new ‘discoveries’, and it was probably best to keep it that way.
Katsuki would probably look at him funny if he had said something like ‘Hey so I found out some of my stuff are lying around your house because I always forget to bring them back to my place.’
So, he kept his mouth sealed on that, and started a new routine of practically living in his boyfriend’s house for the past three days.
It was an accident, really.
He had just happened to be terribly missing his boyfriend, and the blond’s sheets were the closest thing there was that reminded him of his blond grumpy neighbor.
Not to mention, his clothes happened to be in Katsuki’s apartment, so it’d be saving him the trouble of going back and forth from one balcony to another.
Overall, he knows that what he was doing wasn’t ‘manly’ by any means as he really shouldn’t have been staying in his neighbor’s place without his knowledge.
But just the scent wafting from the pillow— the spicy scent to it reminded him so much of strong arms which had held him tight almost each night, and so he stayed, wanting so badly to experience it once more by the real deal.
```
On the morning of the day Katsuki was supposed to return back from his business trip, something incredibly strange happened.
He woke up to a series of knocks, and he had blearily stumbled his way out of bed as a result. Yawning, he rubbed a hand across his eyes and opened the door to see who was knocking.
A delivery guy was standing in front of him, polite smile on his face as he was wheeling along some tall large box.
Eijirou blushed, praying to all deities out there that he doesn’t have drool on his face right at this moment. “Um, can I help you?”
“I have a delivery for Bakugou Katsuki-san.” The delivery person recited, and Eijirou’s scarlet eyes widened at that; he didn’t have any idea that Katsuki had bought something to be delivered.
Breaking out of his surprise, Eijirou responded with “Oh, he’s not he-“ which was cut off by another voice jumped in to speak right at the same time-
“Yeah, that’s me.” Katsuki strode forward to them, carrying a travel bag and looking a bit worn out. Still, he addressed the delivery guy with a gruff, “Is there any fuckin’ problem?”
“N-No. It’s just your delivery arrived at the date just as you had requested it, sir.” The poor guy stuttered a bit under Katsuki’s rough tone though he composed himself as he gestured to the huge box that he had been dragging along. “Your closet is here.”
Huh, closet?
Eijirou stood there incredulously, watching Katsuki signing some form and rebuffing the guy’s offer to carry the box.
“I’ve got it covered.” Katsuki waved the guy off, carrying the enormous box which must surely have weighed a ton, and couldn’t help but swoon at the display of strength. Goodness, he knows that Katsuki had been working out a lot, but it was still a treat watching him flex those biceps like it’s nothing.
He was snapped out of whatever he was going through when his boyfriend groused out teasingly, “Eijirou, I know I’m hot as hell but stop fuckin’ drooling over there.”
“O-Oh sorry about that. It’s just you looked really manly carrying that box so easily.” Blushing a shade of red which had even rivaled the color of his hair, Eijirou bashfully switched the topic at hand. “I thought you’re scheduled to return later at night?”
“Something came up and the trip got cut short by a couple hours, so I thought I might as well fuckin’ surprise you.” Katsuki said, setting the box at the far side of the room. “What? Do ya not want me here or somethin’?”
“Of course not, man!” Eijirou refuted all too quickly, and then he stupidly blurted out the next words, “I wouldn’t have been sleeping here in your room these last few days, if that wasn’t the case!”
“You-what?” Katsuki stared up at him in slight surprise. “You’ve been staying over my shitty apartment?”
“Yeah, about that, it’s a long story, you see…” Eijirou nervously chuckled and he started spilling everything from when he couldn’t find his toothbrush to his missing shirts. “I just couldn’t resist, okay? Your pillows smelled so much like you and I missed you so much that I- “
Katsuki’s booming laughter baffled him to say the least, and he was too stunned to say anything else. He had thought for sure that his boyfriend would be throwing a fit, and judging the heck out of him for sleeping in his room, but the blond merely appeared to be amused, if anything else.
“Shit, you’re killing me I-Who the fuck gave you the right to be such a cute fuckin’ idiot?” Katsuki remarked playfully at him, elbowing him at his ribs. “This shit is what I’m fuckin’ missing while I was in my shitty trip.”
“Oh, really?” Eijirou knew he was grinning like a lovestruck fool, but he couldn’t fight the happiness that was blooming within his cheat at what his boyfriend had said. “You don’t mind staying in your house for days without your permission?”
The redhead was startled when Katsuki had suddenly started walking toward the corner of the room where the newly delivered box was at, and began unboxing it at an ungodly speed to reveal a closet, much like what the delivery guy had said.
“Ei, what is this?” Katsuki questioned him like he was some kindergartener teacher asking a child what an apple was.
“It’s a closet.” He replied plainly, wondering what was going through his boyfriend’s mind to ask such obvious thing. “What does that got to do- “
Ultimately, his question was drowned out by Katsuki's proclamation. “Share this closet with me.”
“What?” was the only word in which he could supply. “What do you mean? I already have my own closet at home.”
“What I fucking meant is— Move in with me.” Katsuki elaborated confidently without any hint of uncertainty. “You’ve already most of your shit in my place and you’re already practically here most of time so just fuckin’ move in with me.”
“I-uh- This is all too sudden I don’t know what to say.” Eijirou began, cheeks heating up a bit. “But Katsuki, asking me to move in with a closet, really now?”
“Look, I gotta make my own damn strange requests every once in a while.” Katsuki huffed out. “The HDMI one I made back then was fuckin’ lame, but this one was better and it also costs me almost a damn fortune.”
“The HDMI request was cool though. The Crimson Riot movie we watched was awesome, dude!” Eijirou moved to cup his hand to hold around his boyfriend’s cheek. “But I do like this one now, and I accept it, the strange request that you made just now, I mean.”
“Good.” Katsuki said, moving an inch closer to him. “Tch at least that strange request was fuckin’ worth it.”
“I like the strange requests.” Eijirou remarked, thinking back on their relationship since over a year ago. “They’ve become a part of us.”
“ 'S something you started with the whole fuckin' balcony thing. I don't have a damn idea how they became such a big part of our relationship, but they're cool and shit.” Katsuki snarled then, “Just don’t make me promise to be nice to your ex-boyfriend again.”
“Haha, I won’t.” Eijirou couldn’t hold back himself back from teasing his boyfriend. “But you’ve come to like my ex-boyfriend.”
“Fuck no! That asshole is a fuckin’ menace.” Katsuki scrunched his face in disgust at the mention of Tomo, before he turned to him with a softer expression on his face. “Anyway, enough talking, just fuckin’ kiss me already.”
And happily, Eijirou obliged, closing the distance between them and greedily kissing his boyfriend with everything he got.
Katsuki returned the kiss with just as much passion, switching their positions so that he was pinning him to the ground and kissing him senseless.
He had no idea how long they had kissed, but they soon had to begrudgingly separate for the need of catching their breath, but he didn’t really mind.
Katsuki had the most genuine loving expression on his face, after all, and it’s directed towards him and only him.
“Hey.”
“What?”
“Y’know, there’s something I’d miss after moving in with you.” The redhead stated dejectedly, letting his head fall to his boyfriend’s lap. “I’ll miss being neighbors with you.”
“The fuck does it matter?” Katsuki reached a hand down to caress his hair gently. “You’d still have me around and that’s how it’ll be till fuckin’ forever cuz I don’t plan on ever letting you go.”
“The same goes for me.” Eijirou beamed. “I’d be willing to share your closet with you forever if I have to.”
“You’re such a damn fuckin’ sap.” Katsuki tugged at his hair playfully, and he laughed, tackling his boyfriend to the ground.
“You promised me a hug, remember?”
Not even a second later, Eijirou found himself engulphed in a secure embrace as his boyfriend berated him gently, “You don’t have to tell me twice, idiot.”
Normally, Eijirou would follow that up with a retort of his own, but these happened to be one of the cases he’d find himself preferring the silence instead.
Thus, the redhead simply smiled, silently allowing his boyfriend to give him all the love he wanted to offer.
And that was enough...
Katsuki was all that was enough.
