Work Text:
Bakugou didn't know if he hated or loved his current situation. He was currently in the mall with the group of his friends- Ashido, Kaminari, Kirishima, Sero, and himself, however, with an additional attendee.
“And I was thinking, if we have time, we should stop by the new Pro Hero’s collectable store they have. I think its on the second floor-”
After Kirishima found out he liked Deku, he hasn't given him a rest and has been trying multiple ways to get him to admit his feelings. He hasn't told the rest of his friends he likes Deku, Kirishima knowing is more than enough. He never intended on telling him either, but the dickhead found out himself somehow. It’s irritating.
He has to admit he enjoys spending time with Deku and surprisingly enough the other boy has worked into their group pretty well. Not to say he hung out with them all the time, but these rare occasions have been increasing.
“Sure, we’ll go.” he shoves his hands out of his pockets and continues walking straight forward, Deku in tow. “But you're not spending any more money. I shouldn’t have allowed you to come, 2100 yen on a magazine? Are you kidding me?”
“Kacchan, I don't think you understand. It was a collectible! The value is just going to increase.” Deku scoots up beside him, their fingers brushing up against each other. He doesn't know why they are walking to close in the big mall hallways, but he isn't complaining.
If Kirishima is right, he does know why they're walking so close. Kirishima has a theory that his feelings for Deku are reciprocated. It’s not that he's a coward and doesn't want to ask him out, he's just worried. There's a big chance that what his friend is picking up on is the admiration Deku had for him since childhood. Deku probably does the same with round cheeks and half and half, guy doesn't know his personal space.
“Fine, we’ll go into the shitty store but NO buying anything.”
“Common Kacchan,” Deku turned his head to face him, their fingers still brushing beside each other. “We barely get to go to the mall between school and hero work.”
Since he caught feelings, it's always a choice to play out the route in which he wants his teasing to go. He feels like Deku is making him soft, and with his friends watching? He hopes they’re too busy to acknowledge him. He doesn't want them to start questioning things.
“One thing,” He starts, “and I'm buying it for you.” He sees Deku’s face react for a second before he adds, “1500 yen limit though I'm not made of money.”
Deku's face becomes slightly redder as they continue their walk, some couple moving past them giving Deku the opportunity to brush even closer to Bakugou’s side. The only way they'd be even closer if they were holding hands, or if he had his arm around him.
“You don't have to buy me anything,” Deku starts.
“Tsk, I offered. Never thought you'd be rude enough to refuse a gift.”
“Fine, but I'm getting you something too though. That’s only fair.”
He wasn't going to point out the flaw in the logic, but he gave it a second though. Something bought for him by Deku? A cutesy little gift? Fuck. He was getting soft.
“Oi! Guys, we’re heading in here,” Denki calls as Bakugou looks back realizing they were at least a decent 10 steps away from the rest of the group.
By pure dumb luck, what are the chances that they are stopping at a plushie store. Deku grins at him like he read his mind.
The mall was decently busy for a Saturday, but when they walked into the store the amount of people was just amplified. A bunch of little kids were running around, toddlers reaching for toys and parents' equality parts annoyed and enamored.
“Do you want something from here, Kacchan?”
“Shut it stupid,” he says, giving him a slight teasing push as Deku laughs.
They walk up to his - their - group of friends, as Ashido is looking at some plush bunnies. “Deku, look, isn't he adorable.” She says placing the bunny near his face, “Doesn't he look just like you?”
Deku grabs the bunny out of her hand, “thanks,” he rolls his eyes but there's a smile on his face, “how much is he?” Bkaugou’s idiotic heart skips a beat at that, an image of Deku buying him this damn plushie gives him a sense of want. He’s embarrassed of his own thoughts.
Deku’s about to say something else before a little toddler runs straight into him with a little poof and falls on the floor crying. Damn kids, running around the damn store.
He bends down to check on the annoying little guy. He reaches out to the boy with his hand and helps him off the ground.
He’s about to turn to look for his mother right when he hears Kirishmas voice, “Everything okay Midoriya?”
“Uhm yeah…” He goes but is zoned out, completely staring at Kirishma before a woman rushes over to them.
“Oh God, thank you for finding him!” A woman exclaims rushing over to them. The little boy who was now holding Bakugou's hand, sniffled a little and ran towards his mom.
“I’m sorry mister,” the little boy responds. “The store is just so exciting.”
“It’s okay, it is a very nice store!” Denki agrees as the boy tucks himself into the side of his mom.
Deku is usually really good with kids so it's a bit strange he hasn't said any words of reassurement yet, instead he's a little zoned out and has been starting in Kirishima’s direction.
“Sorry again,” the mother gives a quick smile and ushers her son out of the day, “Have a nice day!”
“You too!!” Ashido calls over. He goes to turn to find Deku, but finds him planted right next to his so-called best friend.
Denki starts looking over to the mom but soon after turning over to Kirishima and Deku. He’s about to say something before Deku grabs the bunny from before and shoves it in Kirishima's direction, leans into Kirishima's shoulder.
“It’s cute isn't it?” He mutters with a content sign.
Deku switches his view to Kirishima, “ You are very cute.” he says flustered, “I don’t know why I never realized before. I mean, I did, but now just wow.”
And that was a bit odd? It isn't abnormal for Deku to compliment his friends, but this just seemed a little strange. Then Deku then curls around Kirishima. That was fucking weird.
“I’ll buy this for you, okay?” Deku says.
“Uhmm,” Kirishma starts, he looks over at Bakugou and the rest of the group, “Let's go grab that mom and kid again.”
━
It turns out to be a quirk. The little kid sniffs and wipes his nose on his sleeve.
“I am really really sorry. He’s still young and trying to control it, you know how it’s like,” she chuckles a bit awkwardly. “Good thing we were both still in the store…” she trails off. “It’s harmless really! It just makes you fall in love with someone, we don't know much about it yet, but usually it wears off after a couple of hours. I’ll give you my number if you run into any more questions. I am so sorry.” he sees Ashido calming down the woman saying it's fine as she leaves her number.
Damn, shitty ass Deku has the worst luck. They figure out the situation and the mom and son walk away, with an apologetic bow and a wave.
Kirishima swings his arm over Deku’s shoulder, “Being in love with me for a while ain’t gonna be bad,” he flexes his other arm that isn't holding Deku, “I'm a catch.”
Deku seems extremely satisfied being tucked into Kirishima’s arm.
“Okay, whatever, let's just get out of this cursed ass store.” He starts leading the way to the door.
He’s skulking his way out the door, like before he steps away from his group of friends- just without Deku beside him. He hears Sero cooing, and that he almost does a double take. Sero? Not that asshole finding this entertaining too.
“Oh common, Bakugou, It's a bit funny isn't it?” Ashido says but then sighs “We’ll have to tell Azawai Sensai, but we barely stayed in the mall”
Bakugou just grunts. He wasn't going to make it seem like it's affecting him. He wasn't realistically going to do anything about his feelings for Deku anyways, so there's really no point in being affected… but he also doesn't care whatsoever about this mall trip anymore.
“My feelings for Kiri aren't funny,” Deku practically pouts, still pushed into his side. “I love him and he's the best boyfriend I could ever have.”
Oh. Well.
Kirishima seems a little taken aback but recuperates quickly and nods in approval, but his eyes aren't focused on Deku. He tries to catch Bakugou's eyes with a little apologetic look, but Bakugou wasn't having it.
Ashido claps her hands enthusiastically, “Awe so cute. I never realized but Deku and Kirishima would be pretty cute! Look, their hair colors match, it's like Christmas!” God, not like that pink poptart knew anything about color theory.
Fuck. Best boyfriend ever. Bakugou couldn't handle it.
His friends and him walk around a little bit more, Bakugou trailing behind them as Deku clings on to Kirishima and explaining how beautiful the color of his hair was and how perfect his eyes looked in the light. And how he loved him oh so very much .
He figures they’ll go home as soon as possible, but Kaminari starts whining about getting food in the food court before they head back to AU and of course that gets everyone to agree to go.
“I could really go for some noodles,” Sero says as they make their way downstairs, Kirishima and Deku walking beside him hands together.
“Yeah me too,” Ashido smiles.
Deku lets out a small laugh, “I would go for a milkshake, you know the place at the corner?” He sighs, “but I'm not that hungry,” Before Kirishima even has the moment to respond, he turns to him, “share with me?” and from their left, Bakugou can just tell Deku is thriving. He looked so happy. It made him sick. He really shouldn't be.
We wonder if he’s the only person not panged with jealousy, as he turns over to Ashido. It is just a quirk, but still.
Kaminari runs off to get in line at his favorite place, Ashido and Sero stepping out together, leaving him with Deku and Kirishima.
“What are you thinking babe,” Deku turns, face to face with Krishima, using his other hand to toy with the ends of Kirishima’s sleeve, his hand almost about to caress his biceps.
Bakugou is a little across from them and he feels Kirishima staring daggers at him trying to make eye contact, but his eyes are just focused on Deku’s hand.
Is this how Deku would act like just in a relationship? Shit, he needs a drink.
Deku doesn't even acknowledge him standing around behind him, as he leads Kirishima over to the milkshake place.
Having Deku fake in love with someone else made him want to shove them apart. He knows it's the quirk but hearing that made his heart drop. Shit, he would not be able to handle it if Deku actually got a partner.
His appetite has long left him but he figured he should at least get something. He takes his time to loiter around the food court before ordering.
Searching the crowd he finds Kaminari, Ashido, Krishima, Deku and Sero sitting by a large table as he makes his way there.
“About time,” the blond hair fry up starts as Bakugou plops into the chair, “how long do you think this quirk will last Kacchan.”
“Don’t call me that dumbass,” He says, ignoring Kaminari with his eyes on Deku. Usually whenever someone else calls him by Deku’s nickname, the boy would snap his eyes up from whatever he was doing and give them a look. Nothing this time though.
Deku and Kirishima did end up sharing a milkshake, at least they got two straws. Deku looks a bit flustered.
He can’t help but think about how’d it be like if he was the one sharing a milkshake with Deku. He grinds his teeth. “I’m going to the bathroom,” he tosses his chopsticks aside carelessly.
━
By the time they start making their way back to UA, Deku stumbles a bit and then shakes himself off a little. “I wonder how this quirk is affecting me, makes one think can feelings be that easily fragmented? I wonder how it’ll be like if I already loved Kirishima- huh- I mean I am in love with you- so-I don't remember ever NOT being in love with you”
“Deku stop thinking so loud,” he snaps.
“Huh?” Deku says, turning back slightly, he was no longer gripping Kirishma’s side but they had started walking side by side with their hands together. Deku’s eyes reach his, but they feel, like theyres something missing, usually theyre a bit more, fuck he doesn’t know. And then he turns back. No other remarks.
He turns back to Kirishma,“I was thinking, when we get back to the dorms, if you're not tired maybe we should do something, just us two, it’ll be nice.”
“Uhm, yeah sure,” Kirishima starts but Deku continues, talking about some moves he’s been rehearsing.
This quirk was fucking twisted, Bakugou thinks kicking a rock on the ground. This has to be breaking the laws of consent.
“Oh don’t be such a grump,” Denki wiggles his brows leaning his arm onto Bakugou, “maybe this will spark some real romance, you know, like this would be a good story to tell their kids.”
“Can it Pikachu!” Bakugo says shoving his arm off, how his friends got comfortable enough invading his personal space in the span of 2 years he doesn't know.
The only person he craves physical attention from is Deku, hence allowing him to walk close and he’s gotten to the point where he’d ruffle his hair and Deku puts his hand on his shoulder-
“I’ve been meaning to watch the new Pro Hero documentary that just came out recently, maybe we should watch that?” Deku swings their arms together a little and then pulls at Kirishima. He doesn't even wait for a confirmation of yes, “your dorm or mine?”
Damn, the documentary he and Deku were talking about last week.
They were actually planning to watch it together, it's just between school and training they haven't gotten around it just yet. He wanted to make it a bit special though and make some snacks, get Deku to look at him with that happy expression and content smile he has around him when Bakugou puts even a smidge of effort into something.
“That sounds great Midoriya, but I uhm, wanna do some training instead. I feel like I really need it.” Krishima scratches the back of his head with his other arm, that is not preoccupied with Deku’s.
He guesses there are some good things about Kirishima knowing his feelings, anyone else like that dolt Pikau would watch the movie. They wouldn't be Kirishima who spent 20 minutes trying to convince him cuddling Midoriya unprompted would be a good idea during said movie time.
“Sure! We can do that.”
Bakugou moves in silence. He needs to head back to his room.
Once through the doors of UA, Deku pulls Kirishima to the side.
“I’ll text you later for training, okay?!” He smiles, he does a simple glaze through of everyone else-including Bakugou- “bye guys, see you later Kiri.”
“Oi!” Kaminari responds, “We’re not letting you go anywhere before we talk to Aizawa.”
“Oh,” Sero teases, “Look at you being responsible for once.”
Ashido laughs at that and grabs Deku by the shoulders. “We’re talking him to Aizawa Sensei .”
“I’m going to my room,” He couldn't help but feel a bit odd, he’s never met with this much indifference when it came to Deku.
Kirishima looks at him and then detaches himself from Deku, “I’ll be right with you guys, I’m just gonna grab something.” Deku takes that as he will, but he guesses the rest of them took that as a code of needing some peace.
Both him and Kirishima make their way to their floor. Kirishma scratches the back of his head awkwardly, “I’m sorry dude, I-”
“It’s fine. Not your fault,” he starts, “Not like he's my boyfriend or anything anyways what are you apologizing for?’
“I know just,” he trails off, “Lets go talk in your room?”
Bakugou huffs, he does not want to talk but if he doesn't it’ll be even worse. “Not much to talk about.” but he lets Kirishima trail in through and plops into his bed as Bakugou slides into his armchair.
He expects Kirishma to say something of significance, but the boy just looks at him with a look, “So…”
“So fucking what?”
“Are we not going to talk about how Deku thinks he’s dating me and suddenly his acknowledgment for you goes down to 0?”
“Huh?” Bakugou stops his slight spin to the chair, he pauses “where are you getting that from? It's only been a few hours.”
“He definitely likes you man, he completely ignored you.” Kirishima sits up from his lying position grinning, “His feelings of love for you are so powerful the quirk just blocked anything, even friendship to interfere with it.”
“Shut up,” Bakugou says, finding the closest object from his desk and throwing it at him. Kirishima doesn't even activate his quirk as he dodges the hit and lets out a laugh.
“Maybe if i spend less time with him the quirk will go away faster,” Kirishima goes for the PS5 and grabs the controller and gives it a wave.
He smacks the controller out of Kirishima's hand, “He was so excited to train with you, you better go,” he pauses, “and Aizawa is definitely going to want to talk to you.”
“Awe, so manly bro,” making his way out of his bed and with a warm look he teases, “I’ll put in a good word to my boyfriend, maybe he’ll date you next.”
“Die shitty hair!”
━
Kirishima has long left his room and honestly it was getting boring just sitting in his room, Bakugou signs and makes his way downstairs.
Kirishima and Deku are most probably training so he’d need to avoid that area but the common room was free terrain. Heading down the elevator he makes his way there.
He’s about to start up on dinner since they've grabbed a quick lunch at the mall and leftovers would be nice for sunday– if they last that long.
The common room was pretty energetic for a Saturday evening, Deku’s little group of friends hanging out by the couches, minus the boy himself.
He makes his way past them before round cheek spots him and calls over, “Bakugou! What happened at the mall today?”
“Tsk,” he does not want to be having this conversation, “didn't anyone else out of the 6 people there not explain it already?”
“They did.” Iida starts.
“We are just worried for Midoriya’s safety,” Todoroki’s usual poker face, not seeing too concerned but with a hint of something else. Could that be humor? Leaning on the edge of teasing?
“He’s fine,” he groans out, “Just head over heels with shitty hair, makes me sick.”
“That’s not very nice,” started glasses, “love is a beautiful thing, regardless of gender, don’t be judgemental Bakugou.”
“Shut up! I’m not a homophobe!” he spits. Great. Just what he needed. He feels his explosions give a light crackle.
Round cheeks give out a giggle, “I’m sure Deku will be fine.”
“Fuck off, he can literally stay in love with him for all I care.” He heads to the kitchen, swinging open the refrigerator doors. With his mind still fixated on Deku, of course he ends up making Katsudon.
Cooking ends up being the most therapeutic thing he’s done all day, this morning before the quirk accident felt like ages ago. He’s in the zone of things when he hears Kirishima and Deku enter the common room.
“That smells great!” he hears Deku exclaim, he hates to admit it but hearing Deku’s compliments always brings a sense of satisfaction and pride.
Recently into this semester, whenever Bakugou has started cooking something, Deku has started to join him. He doesn't do that much to help out but chops the onions sometimes, it's more so keeping him company.
Today was different, Deku and Kirishima made their way over to the couches and sat beside Uraraka, Todoroki and Iida. Some comotion is being made but he does his best to ignore them.
He can't wait for the damn thing to be over. He hates this, hates the way it makes him feel.
Fuck, he was going to do something about this. After this whole quirk has gone away, he’ll tell Deku about his feelings. He wasn't going to wait and sit around for some other extra to come around and then he’ll have to watch this on a daily basis.
He calls over the rest of the people in the common room with a sigh. Although Deku usually sits with his friends and Bakugou with his, the common room dining table allows for lots of overlap. They don't have designated seats, but somehow Bakugou and Deku usually sat quite close to each other.
Deku’s seat today was pushed so close to Kirishima that they had to be touching thighs together. He sits through dinner as best as he could, but watching Deku just made him think of his own plan of confessing. What was he going to do?
They finish dinner quite quickly, “Kirishima, help with dishes.” He demands giving him a good look, his friend taking in his pointed glare that it must go beyond the cutlery and plates.
They’re both washing and drying the dishes as Bakugou turns over, Kirishima giving him room to talk as he hasn't started any conversation on his own. Everyone else has left the kitchen, even Deku.
“I’m going to tell Deku I like him,” He starts with a low tone, not making any eye contact, eyes focusing on the dishes.
“Ayyyyeeee bro! Let’s go!” He does a little cheer.
“Calm down dumbass you're making noise,” he pauses for a moment, “I don't know how to do it.”
“Ou, you wanna make it a little romantic do you,” Krishima teases, “always knew you had a romantic bone in ya.”
“Ugh,” he tosses the next dish into Krishima’s had who has been doing the drying.
“He definitely likes you, you have nothing to be worried about,” there's a grin on his face, “you’ll be thanking me at the wedding. I’m already planning my best man speech.”
“Who says you’ll be the best man?” he snaps with heat behind his words, a slight tease preventing in his tone but still an overseeing layer of doubt in his voice.
“I’ll call Mina and the guys to your room and we could brainstorm, how about that?”
“Huh?? How about what? I am not telling them anything.”
“So you’re just planning on dating Deku in secret? They’ll find out anyway, dumbass.”
“Don’t call me a dumbass, dumbass.” but he agrees and they plan to meet, while Deku stays with his friends. He can tell the quirk is starting to lay off, since he isnt an arms length away from Kirishima at all times.
━
He makes his way up to his room first, and just sinks into his armchair, great, no backing out now, he thinks.
The group of them are now sitting in his room, silence in the air as Kaminari says, “Not like I don't like spending time with you bro, but why are we just sitting here?”
“Yeah, common blasty, why are we having this little meeting?”
“Shut up. You guys are hurting my ears,” he says, but his heart is thumping a little more than usual.
“What Bakugou means to say, if he has something to share with us!” Kirishma is sitting on his bed. All of them somehow settled into his room, was it him or was the air getting thicker with all of them in here?
“Let the man talk,” Sero has a small look of excitement in his eyes, as they crinkle up a bit.
“I like Deku,” he finally spits out, “romantically.”
First he’s met with absolute silence but then his friends just lose it.
“Oh my God!!” Ashido grins, holding her hands to her face now with a joyous expression, “Oh man! The quirk! Did you just realize today?”
Bakugou leans back into his seat, slouching a little, “No, I’ve known for a while.”
“And you knew bro?” Kaminari says, pointing at Kirishima now, “Not fair, how come he knew before us.”
“Not my fault he figured it out,” he grumbled.
“This is great,” Sero, “Never thought Bakugou here would be the first of us to get into a relationship.”
His friends are overloaded with happiness but then Ashido looks a bit thoughtful, “It must’ve sucked seeing him in love with Kirishima, huh?”
He wasn't going to deny it but the word’s don't fall from his mouth as he shrugs.
The mood in the room dampens a bit but then, Kamianri springs to action, “Well! Good thing that it's not real.”
They all nod. “So what are you going to do?”
“Oh yes! How are you going to confess?” Mina explains she claps a little excitedly, it's good that Kirishima is his next door neighbor and they don't have to worry about this excess noise. “Cause Deku definitely likes you!”
Bakugou looks over at Kirishima now, however much it took him to admit his feelings he didn't want to go out and directly ask for help now.
“We were thinking about that, we’re brainstorming up a plan,” Kirishima starts, “Any ideas?”
“What about a grand reveal,” Kaminai starts, “Dinner by the candlelight, some jazz.”
“How about I don't do that.”
“You could just like to bring him some flower’s,” Ashido starts, “That's romantic! I love flowers.”
He feels his palms start to sweat at that, “It’s a little much.”
“So not manly!” Krishima teases, “He’d love that!”
“Yeah, Deku most definitely is a romantic, did you see how he cried at that rom-com we watched last week?” Sero leans back on the bed with his arms behind him. “He’s definitely starting to cry too Bakugou, be ready for that.”
He tosses the idea but he figures he might as well put effort into this, even if it does go south. Deku deserves that at least. “I’m not doing that.” His friends give him some protest.
“Make sure you confess as soon as this quirk is over, before you wuss out.” Kamiani gives him a grin, he’s about to shoot back a remark at him before Kirishima nods in agreement.
“The quirk was already wearing off today after dinner,” Krishima eyes him up, “I could tell. I don't think that kid used a lot of his power, it’ll probably be over by tomorrow.”
“So what do I do?”
“Just talk to him, maybe on the roof? Plan it so you see the sun setting.”
Bakugou thinks the idea was simple enough but worked.
For the next little while the lot of them toss encouragement at him before Bakugou gets sick of the noise. Deku must be missing Kirishima a little by now.
He spends some more time alone in his dorm, before he also gets sick of the space and heads out for a run. He’ll think about Deku later.
━
He waits for the elevator to go down and it stops, when Deku is making his way out. Great. He wasn't planning on Deku at this very moment, but still seeing him look lovestruck over Kirishima annoyed him.
“Kirishima isn’t in his room,” he starts but Deku has some excitement in his eyes.
“That's fine,” Deku’s eyes are completely on him, it feels normal. He actually keeps eye contact with him instead of browsing around in the background hoping to catch as glimpse of Kirishima, “I was actually looking for you”
“You’re back to normal? No longer in love with that shitty haired bastard?”
“Kacchan that's not very nice,” but Deku doesn't have any heat behind his words and actually grins at his remarks. He steps a little closer and Bakugou feels his personal space feel a little warmer from the proximity in space. “But yes, I’m no longer in love with Kirishma.”
“Yeah? How can you tell, maybe it's still lingering,”
“Trust me I can tell,” Deku replies, but he leaves his bubble of space.
“Thanks for making Katsudon today. That was nice.”
“It’s whatever, I made it for everyone.”
“Being in love with Kirishima made me realize something.”
“Yeah what? That you’re completely annoying when you're in love with someone?”
“Made me really understand I like being in control of my own feelings,” He says with precise wording but then sighs, “Felt really weird, it was like I was in love with him?”
“Great going with that.” But Bakugou feels pretty hopeful, there must be a reason Deku was coming up to his dorm right after coming back to normal. Maybe there was a chance he liked him.
“It was so weird just having all these emotions I thought were so constant in my life, and then suddenly having them flipped, it was-” Deku was talking a bit chaotically, but Bakogou felt like he was definitely the one with more eccentric thoughts. He’s confessing to Deku tomorrow. Shit, he could even do it now if he wants.
He wasn't going to confess to him in the middle of the damn hallway, that's for sure.
“Was training with Kirishima tough?”
“Huh?” Deku stops mid ramble.
“I was planning on going for a run, do you want to join me?” He feels to overly formal and polite, but fuck, was he stressing. He’s going to do it.
“Oh! Okay,” he smiles, “I’m still dressed in workout clothes.”
“Yeah I can tell, idiot.” There's no real heat behind his words as Deku gives him a small push.
“Bet I could run for longer than you.”
“Tsk, you’ve been training with shitty hair, you really think you’ve got enough stamina?”
Deku doesn't respond as he gives him a big smile and runs abruptly to the stairs, bypassing the elevator. Well, Bakugou wasn't going to let him get to the track first.
They spend a good amount of time running, but what Bakugou really focuses on is now he really missed how Deku’s attention was on him. He stares at him as they catch their breath.
“Watcha looking at?” Deku snaps him out of his thoughts.
“You’ve, uhm, got something here,” he steps forward to him. Deku does not have a thing wrong with him. He takes the excuse to swipe his hand against Deku’s cheek, like he was brushing something off. Well, that definitely wasn't platonic, and they just ran. What was he doing rubbing his sweaty palm against Deku? He feels so fucking awkward, dropping his hand and steps back. “Clean your face better.”
Deku grins at this, “I could go another lap.”
Bakugou rolls his eyes at that, but he and Deku walk in silence as they pass the area. “I have something to tell you.” He starts not sure where he’s really going with it.
“Do tell Kacchan.” There's more silence as Bakugou looks at the side where Deku isn't, at which Deku brushes next to him, “Come on, you can tell me anything.”
Why was this so hard? He kicks at the ground a little. “I like you.”
He glances over to him and Deku’s been smiling, so his expression doesn't change much, “I like you too Kacchan.”
“No. I mean, I like you.” He pauses for a second, he feels like he sounds like a toddler again. “Romantically.”
At this Deku gives a little laugh, “Me too.” but he still walks in sync with Bakugou, matching his pace.
“Huh?”
Now Deku stops, “I like you so much Kacchan.”
“You do?’
“Yeah, I think it was a bit obvious. At least that's what my friends told me.”
Nothing feels like it really changed between them, but Bakugou’s racing heart has gone down. “It wasn't. I mean. At least for me.”
“So you were nervous?” He teases, a little laugh to his voice.
“Shut up,” he feels his ears heating up, “Let’s get out of here, it’s fuckin cold.” He makes his way to turn around facing their dorms, as he feels Deku catch up with him and lace their fingers together.
He doesn't say anything as they walk, “It’s a good thing I got hit with that quirk today then, huh? I got you to confess to me.”
“I would've told you eventually.”
“Not if I did first.”
“Almost wanted to kill Kirishima,” he admits. He feels Deku hold in a laugh.
“Hey, that’s my ex you're talking about.”
“Shut the fuck up about him, I dont want to hear it.”
“Well you’re my boyfriend now.” Deku says squeezing his hand, “I mean, if you want that is-”
“Yeah.” He knows there's a dumb grin on his face now but he doesn't care, “We’re boyfriends.”
