Work Text:
James’ favorite thing about Sirius’ hair is that he gets to play with it. He likes that it’s long and easy to work with. Whenever he needs something to do with his hands, Sirius lets him play with his hair and he’s been learning different hairstyles that Sirius pulls off quite well.
He’s curled his hair. He’s tied little bows in it. He put it in pigtails. He put it in messy buns or perfect buns. He’s put in various side ponytails. He’s put it half up, half down.
But by far, his favorite and most challenging attempt at doing Sirius’ hair has been the braid. There’re few different types of braids and the easiest one is his starting point. If he could master that one, then he’d be good to go.
It’s his third attempt just this hour, but he’s convinced that he’s going to get it. He splits the hair in three even strips and starts just like Sirius told him to. Carefully crossing each one and making sure to alternate just right, not switching between two and forgetting the third, like he’s done before.
Finally, he gets to the end and uses the hair tie to finish it off. “All done,” he cheers as he hands Sirius a mirror. “What do you think?”
“Perfect, just like you, love,” Sirius says, grinning.
James leans down and gives him a kiss. “Thanks, love. Can I do it again?”
“As many times as you like.”
“Good.”
