An Argument and its Consequences

Summary:

Gudako and AJ end up in an argument, and it ends up much worse than either could have expected.

Notes:

Whilst this one-shot is written by me, the au as a whole is a collab with a mate of mine, K1NG0FN00TS. Check their fics out too, they're an amazing writer :)

Also that AU name came from this au being about a Mordred/Jeanne ship and Mordred/AJ rivalry, hence the dumb name. Don't question that none of this is part of the ones-hots I've written.

Work Text:

"YOU THINK I FUCKING ASKED FOR THIS?" AJ screamed, startling Gudako into silence. This hadn't happened before. All their arguments, all throughout the years, it'd always been a rivalry at most. There had never been this, this venom before.

What the hell had changed?

"You think I want to be lonely? That I somehow enjoy any of this shit!?" AJ screamed, filling the classroom with vitriol as she glared daggers at Gudako from her spot slouched onto the wall.

"Well, how is that my fault?" Gudako yelled back, now irritated. If AJ thought she could just chuck her issues onto her, she had another thing coming. "I'm not to blame for your shitty personality. Yo-"

"You think I don't know that," AJ spat back, cutting Gudako off. "You really think I don't know it's my fault?"

"Then don't load your shit onto everyone else!"

….

"Hehehhe."

"What are you-"

"HAHHAHAHAHAH."

AJ was in hysterics, clutching her sides as she laughed. Gudako could only watch on in mixed confusion and fear. "What are you laughing about."

"Oh, I just realised something funny," AJ spoke breathlessly, reeling from her laughter. "All this fucking time, I've tried to be as out the way as possible, tried to help others. And what do I have to show for it?"

AJ stretched her arms out, chuckling. There were tears now in her eyes.

"Fuck. All."

"I've got nothing. My parents pay jack-shit attention to me. Everyone in this shitfest of a school thinks I'm a brat or a psycho just cause I can't help anyone without getting in the way. Even my sister can't stand me anymore." By the end, she was no longer in hysterics. She was murmuring now, as if speaking too loud might shatter something. "I-I really thought she'd still stay. Heh. I guess not, huh." She started scratching at her skin, nails digging into her arms as she itched.

"Hey, AJ, stop-"

"But nope. Not Jeanne. Cause I can't even keep her happy. Nope. I just fucked that too."

"AJ, stop! You're-"

"That's what I am, though. Just a fuck up. A stupid, good for nothing, irritating fuck-"

"STOP!"

Gudako grabbed onto her wrist, pulling her hand away from her arm with blood drying underneath the nails. "You're hurting yourse-"

"GET OFF OF ME!"

Something from the touch made AJ snap, and she tried to pull away. But Gudako wouldn't let go. "Not if you're going to just scratch yourself again!"

AJ grabbed onto Gudako's wrist, trying to pry her off. "What the fuck do you care!? You're just like the others! You hate me as well!"

"No, I don't!"

That caused a pause in AJ as her eyes widened for a moment. But it only lasted a second as she began again to pull at Gudako, trying to get her off. "Get… off… me." She gritted.

"No! I won't, cause as it happens, I give a shit about you."

"Get off me-"

"Cause I don't hate you. You hear me, AJ!? I don't-"

"-get off me-"

"-cause you aren't a fuck up, you hear me? You give a shit about people, you-

"-get off me-"

"-try your hardest. You're a bitch sometimes, and you annoy me like no one else, but when push comes to shove, you try to help. You hear me, AJ? You try, so I can't hate you, and-"

"-GET OFF ME-"

"-I NEVER WI-"

"-GET THE FUCK OFF ME!"

A spark suddenly lit up between them, lighting up the entire classroom. A boom shook the classroom, and Gudako flew back, smashing into one of the desks. She groaned as she sat up, rubbing the back of her head. She winced in pain as she brought her hand in front of her face and-

Red.

She looked a second at her hand, then at AJ. She was looking at it, too, eyes wide in shock, her breath starting to shake.

"AJ, it-"

She ran.

AJ ran.

Gudako tried to pull herself up as the sobbing girl ran out. "AJ! Wa-" A stabbing pain suddenly rocked her head, and Gudako fell back down, bile rising up. But, steadying herself, she got back up. "AJ! WAIT."

But AJ kept running. She had to cause she couldn’t do it. Couldn’t see it again.

She’d finally gone too far. She’d been stupid.

Stupid.

Stupid, stupid.

Stupidstupidatupidstupidstupid!

"AJ!"

Gudako sucked in a breath as she propped herself on the door, leaning into the corridor. She could barely see down the corridor, her head blazing.

"AJ!"

Nothing.

"AJ!"

Silence.

"Anjie!"

She was gone.

Anjie was gone.
