Work Text:

“Psst Sakura” Uh w-what? Sakura mumbled out of her sleep, peeking up at the blurry figure of a man aside her
He whispered again, “ Sa..ku.ra” in a light playfulness tone. Sakura blinked several times to clear her vision, only to exhale a disgruntled sigh. “Sensei, it took me a whole lot just to fall asleep on this hard cold ground,” she grumbled, “not to mention the mission we are assigned such a pain” at that, her sensei chuckled. Sakura sat up swiftly, ready to give him a piece of her mind. Sakura quickly shut her mouth before anything left it and saw Kakashi sitting against a tree wrapped in a dark blanket with hands holding each corner end with his arms open wide; he gave her what she assumed was behind his mask a soft smile nodding his head once gesturing her to come close. He wants me to sleep with him! Sakura thought, or more like internally screamed. Kakashi seeing his favorite student blush like a red tomato only wanted to tease her more but refrained. Kakashi spoke, “you are cold, right? You were shivering in your sleep.”

She spoke slowly. “Ah. Ok,” Sakura approached him and nervously sat to the side on his lap; she didn’t mean to make it awkward, but she couldn’t help it; she felt awkward! Sakura heard him make an ‘umph’ sound. Her eyes snapped up to look at him, giving him a what’s wrong look. He looked pained as he said one word, “e-elbow” then Sakura noticed her elbow driving into his gut. “Oh! Kakashi, I’m so sorry!” Quickly lifting her arm, she faced him “let me heal it” Kakashi softly held her wrist, letting her know it was ok, don’t. He took a few breaths that he had held in before. Kakashi was now chuckling; he couldn’t help but let a laugh slip out. She was so cute and flustered, something he knew he couldn’t let her know he was finding humorous. Sakura couldn’t help but look at him incredulously. “So, just Kakashi now?” Not a question but more of an amused remark.

Sakura's face heated up again, and she sputtered nonsense profusely, “gah, nvm.” she pulled herself up to go back to her sleeping cot only to be stopped by her sensei holding her wrist; she had forgotten his hand was still there. “Sakura, it's alright; calm your nerves. Uh. I only wanted to help. I promise,” Kakashi said in hopes of easing sakura. Sakura felt a bit relieved hearing her sensei, but she didn't understand why she even felt the need to be so flustered or shy in the first place. It's not the first time she shared body heat with other teammates for warmth. With him, it was just too different. She sat back down this time, making sure her arm was in a more comfortable position. “I’m sorry, Sensei, I didn’t mean to call out to you without honor-“ it was cut short when Kakashi interjected, “don’t be.” Not long, Sakura felt the warmth from her Sensei surround her as he gently wrapped his arms around her shoulders; Sakura closed her eyes. She couldn't deny that she was very comfortable and missed the feeling when Kakashi-sensei's fingers lightly brushed her hair to place her head underneath his chin and onto his chest. Her cheeks flushed. Sakura convinced herself that it was the heat from their bodies and not the act itself. The surrounding was so quiet except for a few crickets chirping now and then. ‘Thump, thump,’ she listened to the rhythm of his steady heartbeat; Sakura envied that her Sensei could be so calm even though he was holding her ‘no,’ she decided to push that thought far back of her head. She went back to listening to his heart and his soft breathing; she felt warm all over. She sighed a long breath before slowly falling into a dazed state. Kakashi softly eyed the top of her head as Sakura shifted comfortably into his arms “you know most people settle beside each other for warmth,” he said teasingly. Sakura knew that any other time she would have had it, but not this time. For now, she couldn’t even be slightly bothered by the realization of not choosing to huddle beside him instead of his lap, and she was just too sleepy to care. Maybe she will get him back tomorrow for all his teasing. But for now, she’ll allow herself to be comfortable; it’s his fault for waking her in the first place. “I am not like most people,” Sakura softly spoke as she dozed off. Kakashi felt her body utterly lax as she fell asleep; he gave a content hum before
Saying, “no, you are not. A very special cherry blossom indeed.”
