The scent of Ramen vs Kagome

Summary:

Inuyasha goes back to Kagome's era with her, to let her catch up with her schoolwork. It's not his fault her bed is so comfy!

Work Text:

Kagome had been studying at her desk for hours, trying to catch up on all the work she had missed while she was away in the feudal era. Inuyasha, as stubborn as always, was reluctant to let her go back and ended up going back through the well with her. At first he was playing with Buyo, but then he ended up just relaxing on her bed, listening to the sound of Kagome's pencil scratching the paper.

Inuyasha sighed, feeling a sense of boredom wash over him. He wasn't used to spending so much time indoors, and he longed to be out in the open air, fighting demons and other monsters. But, he chose to go with Kagome and didn't really think it was thattt bad. He was just bored. He knew how important it was for Kagome to finish her homework, she had missed so much school already, so he tried to be patient. He lay back on her comfy bed, staring up at the ceiling.

As time passed, Inuyasha found himself growing more and more tired. He wasn't used to laying on a bed, and with Kagome's scent surrounding him, he felt so comfortable. His eyes grew heavy, and before he knew it, he had drifted off to sleep.

Kagome continued to do her homework, occasionally sighing and stretching her arms above her head, knowing that it had to be done. When she finally finished, she quickly shut her books and turned around, ready to ask Inuyasha if he was hungry, only to find him fast asleep on her bed.

She smiled at the sight of him, the soft rise and fall of his broad chest as he breathed, the way his silver hair fell over his forehead. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of tenderness towards him. After all, he had patiently waited for her while she was studying.

She knew he could be so stubborn and headstrong, but he also had a soft side that he rarely showed to others. It was rare of him to fall asleep before the others, as he would stay awake and only let himself rest after knowing that everyone was safe whenever they would set up a camp.

She gently placed a hand on his shoulder and whispered his name, but he didn't wake up. She giggled softly at his peaceful expression and decided to let him sleep, wondering if the smell of food would end up waking him up. She knew he hadn't eaten since coming with her, and could only imagine how hungry he must be.

Kagome went to the kitchen and prepared a warm meal for him, ramen - his favourite, hoping that the scent of food would wake him up. She brought the food to her room and set it on the bedside table.

She sat on the edge of the bed and watched him for a few minutes, wondering what to do.

Inuyasha stirred slightly but didn't wake up. Looking at the ramen on the bedside table that was getting cold, she decided to go and put it into the fridge, ready to heat up for later. It was dark outside, getting closer to Kagome's usual bedtime, and she couldn't help but let a yawn escape from her lips.

After she finished putting it away, she sat back and watched him sleep again, taking in the sight of him in her bed. She couldn't resist the urge to lie down beside him, and she slowly lay down next to him, her head resting on the pillow, facing him.

Inuyasha stirred again, and it was almost as if he sensed her presence there in his sleep. He lazily threw an arm over Kagome, pulling her closer to him. With a slight blush on her cheeks, Kagome froze, unsure about if she should move or not. She closed her eyes and let herself relax in his arms, feeling safe and secure. She could hear his heartbeat, slow and steady, and she felt a sense of contentment wash over her.

As she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't help but think about how much she cared for Inuyasha and how much he had come to mean to her. She knew that they had been through so much together, and that their bond was unbreakable.

When she woke up to birds chirping outside her window, she saw that Inuyasha was still sleeping, and his arm was now wrapped around her waist, holding her close to him. She smiled to herself and snuggled closer to him, knowing that there was no place she'd rather be than in his arms.

Anddd of course, by the time Kagome woke up again, the ramen in the fridge was nowhere to be found.
