Chapter Text
Harlan and Luna were looking for Garrett inside the burning forest when they heard it.
A howl.
A wolf.
Suddenly, without meaning or actually deciding to, they started to run, full throttle in a direction only their instinct seemed to know until they reached a clearing made of solid rock were three others arrived, to Harlan they seemed unassuming, some boy shorter than him, an even shorter girl and…
“Teagan what are you doing here?!” he heard his twins’ exclamation and felt his mouth become impossibly dry at the sight of his younger sibling yellow eyes. She was never like them, like Luna and him, she was human, eyes like that were never supposed to belong to her face.
“Your eyes…” he rasped, noticing for the first time that the others had glowing eyes as well.
To say Luna was confused would be an understatement, she arrived at a clearing to see Everett, another girl and much to her shock, her younger sister there, panic and self-loading rose inside of her, she had not though of her sister during the entire day, the girl was away in some school trip and should have arrived home hours ago. And. Luna. Had. Forgotten.
“Teagan what are you doing here?!” came out of her mouth before she could actually think.
“Your eyes…” Harlan rasped, looking at their sister wide eyed.
“Yours too” Luna heard Everett say looking around, all of them had glowing eyes.
Teagan felt like her lungs were on fire, but at the same time she felt good, great even, like never before, she felt like she could do anything and not get injured or tired or sick, the confusing part was not knowing why she was running or where she was going so fast, at a speed she has never even dreamed of achieving. Until she came face to face with her furry siblings, Everett Lang and who she knew to be Blake Navarro.
Looking at her siblings faces realization hit her, the voice in the back of her head was just confirming what her body already knew, she no longer was the painfully normal and sickly child Garrett Briggs has taken in a couple of years ago. She was more, much more.
“Teagan what are you doing here?!” Lunas voice interrupted her excited thoughts.
“Your eyes…” Harlan rasped, “Yours too” Everett added.
Teagan laughed, she couldn’t help it, she was still high on this great feeling “all of us have glowing eyes.”
“This has never happened to us” she heard Luna mutter, Harlan trying to silence her “they are like us” she continued ignoring him.
“Like what” Blake asked.
“Werewolves” Teagan said at the same time as Everette.
