Work Text:

Sister,

It’s kind of hard to explain the loss of someone that you spent a lifetime with, I mean, we’ve been together since birth… so waking up and realizing that I was by myself was hard.

I wasn’t even really sure where to begin my search for you until I met (Well, fished out) someone that was willing to help me find you.

Their name is Paimon, she makes me think of you sometimes. (A lot of people do, actually.)

She’s bold and curious and always has my back. She’s traveling with me as I search for you, and she’s a good teacher. I was worried about learning a new language alone since we’d always done it together, but over time it seems that I have picked up a lot.

During our first stop in Mondstat, we met so many interesting people. There’s a librarian, alchemist, calvary captain (Who has a brother. They’re.. an interesting pair.), and many more.

They all belong to the Knights of Favonious, who are the first people we happened to run into.

Amber, their Outrider helped me get a pair of Wing Gliders and a license to use them.

They’re cool, but they don’t have anything on our wings and what they looked like.

Using them reminds me of us every time I use them though, and about how easy it was for us to travel between worlds before. About all of the things we did before, and about what you could possibly be doing now.

I know that one day we will be together again, but for now, I suppose I will have to accept only seeing you again like this- in tiny moments I find in others.
I guess that's better than nothing...

Speaking of the Knights of Favonious, I told Paimon that Lisa (The librarian) and Amber seem like siblings because Lisa is always getting Amber to run errands for her so that she can slack off… I explained that since we are the same age though, we just played rock-paper-scissors to decide things like that.

I never thought that I would miss something like playing a game so much. When Paimon and I played and she added her own twist to the end of it, I was surprised by how different the moment felt. I forget that not everyone is going to be like you- that it’s not you.

When I woke up alone, it was hard. But waking up every day and remembering that you’re not there at my side?

It’s worse.

I miss you, Lumine. Even in my dreams.

You're always there, waiting.
I'm always behind you, searching.

I hope that one day we can play rock paper scissors like we used to, perhaps our problems can be that simple again.

If you wanted, I may even consider letting you win every time!

…Actually, if it kept you around, I think I’d be willing to do almost anything.

Until I see you again,

Aether.
