Chapter Text
The sound of spinning helicopter blades filled the air as sand blew everywhere from the strength of the wind, many metkayina that were near were shielding their faces. The Sully kids were running over with visible excitement painting their faces.
When they were in the forest, Norm visited the Sully’s every 2 or 3 months to deliver sky-people things to the kids, that way they could have both cultures in their life. Neytiri didnt really approve of her children indulging in human antics and shoving their faces full of the very unhealthy snacks, listening to the music, and often wearing the clothing. But she came to accept that this was part of them and it was important to her that her children see the good side of the sky-people things, and not only the pain and war that they started.
Neytiri also finds herself stealing and devouring the dark chocolate covered almonds that the kids get in their big box of snacks, she just cant help herself. Jake knows about this and insists that she just asks Norm for some but she refuses to admit that she actually likes human food. Jake also HAS to have a burger and fries every so often or he simply cannot function. (you can take jake out of america, but you cant take the america out of jake🦅🇺🇸)
This is the first time they have received sky-people things since they arrived at Awa’atlu. Jake felt embarrassed about the scene it would cause with a large and loud helicopter to land for a purpose other than an emergency but for ‘demon’ things. He was worried about what Tonowari and Ronal would think, but his kids had been requesting nonstop for their treats and items. They wanted to share and teach their three Metkeyina friends about the good side of sky-people and Jake couldn’t say no to that. He also really wanted his burger.
As soon as the helicopter landed the Sully kids raced to the big opening. Norm popped his head out and the kids tackled him with a hug. They had let go of poor Norm when Jake and Neytiri caught up also giving him a tight squeeze.
“Alright kids, lets get you your things!” Norm finally said after what felt like hours of him and the navi couple talking, even though it was just a few minutes. “The kids look like they’re about to pop..” Jake whispered into his lover’s ear trying to hide a chuckle, “They’re just excited, Ma’jake” Neytiri said with a big smile on her face, she loved nothing more then seeing her beloved children so happy. “Its been quite a long time.” She had added. “Mhm.” Jake replied, with that same smile.
Norm rummaged through a big, green army box before pulling put the first item. “For you Kiri, a polaroid camera! It was your mothers, I think some of her photos she took are on there still” he said, placing it in Kiri’s hands. She held it to her chest with a happy sigh. “I’ll take good care of it. Thank you, Norm.” She said, looking at the camera with a loving gaze. Jake made a soft look at the sight of his adopted daughter, he saw so much of Grace in her.
“And for you Lo’ak, a practice gun! I’ve seen they way you look at the guns in the lab y’know.” Norm said. Lo’ak took the black and red “gun” with a ‘thank you’ and started to admire it closely, tracing his fingers along the details. It definitely doesn’t weigh as much as a real one which shows that its made of polymer. Jake tries to say something about how Lo’ak shouldn’t have a gun just yet but Neytiri puts a hand on his chest, signaling to let it go for now, and Jake backs of with a hesitant look on his face.
“And for Tuktirey-“ upon hearing her name, Tuk shoves her way to the front, holding her hands out in front of her. “A big toruk!” Norm puts a giant toruk plushy in her arms, almost half the size of her. Tuk gasps and lets out an ear piercing squeal, squeezing the hell out of the poor stuffed toy. She talks about her dreams of being the next toruk macto like crazy, it never leaves her mind. Her father cant help but coo at the thought of his youngest daughter following in his footsteps.
“And finally Neteyam, this belonged to your dad.” Norm pulls out a big Burgundy hoodie from the box, handing it to the oldest Sully. “Thank you!” Neteyam lets out a small gasp and holds it out in front of himself to get a better look. The texture felt nice and soft, not making his skin crawl like the other times he received a peice of clothing. A huge smile painted his face, showing off his bunny teeth, before slipping it on and showing his siblings. Jake and Neytiri’s hearts swell at the sight of their first born son. He rarely smiled like that since they left their home.
“Oh! And we cant for get the pièce de résistance!!” Norm exclaimed before pulling out the big box of human snacks. “Thank you, Norm!” they had all said. Neteyam took the box from Norm and held it above his head, turning to his siblings like he had just found a chest filled to the brim with gold. The Sully kids looked at it with wide eyes and gave little cheers of happiness before running off to go find there three reef navi friends. “You’re welcome kids!!” Norm said back with a wave as he saw them run away with their gifts. The three adults laughed at the happy children, and after their moment, Jake immediately requested his burger.
