Chapter 1: I Just May Like Some Explanations

Chapter Text

Fame is a strange thing when Diana thinks about it.

Diana and her sister Luna grew up in the limelight. Their first foré into fame was when they starred in the movie The Parent Plan . Eventually they both rose to fame, but her sister didn't stick with it. Luna decided that she didn't want to be a star anymore, so she decided to become a nurse while Diana stayed an actress.

And as Diana rose to internet stardom, so did the number of eyes on her. She had millions upon millions of fans and the press would never resist a story on her and Luna.

""Luna, the sister of acclaimed actor Diana, has a new face'?!" Luna exclaimed as she read a new tabloid from the filming set's mailbox.

Diana giggled. "Looks like people caught your new nose," Luna glared at her sister. "Sorry," Diana said with a smile.

Luna huffed. "I hope the magazines know that I would never stoop that low to look nice."

Diana smiled. "That's because you already have a pretty face." Luna smiled back.

The two were greeted with a cool breeze as they stepped out of the lot. Diana breathed out, a puff of air visible in the cold. Thank god she had the foresight to pack her and Luna warm coats for the night.

"It's most likely going to snow soon," Luna remarked.

Diana nodded. "Yeah, but that just means more work for you."

Luna hummed. "I suppose," She said before starting to walk. "Now come on before we both catch the cold, you don’t wanna get the crew sick."

Diana nodded a giggle and caught up to her sister, the two of them walking side by side.

Diana was normally quite talkative whenever she was with her sister. The two of them clicked quite well and could bounce off of each other. But Diana didn't feel like talking, not because she wasn't enjoying her sister's company but because the hair on the ends of her neck were sticking out and she had goosebumps on her arms.

That odd feeling she’d been having all week returned but she just brushed it off like she had been, even if she knew her intuition was onto something. There had always been crazed fans, that was a drawback with fame after all. But that didn't mean that some wouldn't mind crossing boundaries.

"Are you okay?" Luna asked after she noticed that Diana hadn't been responding for a while. "Do I need to take you to the hospital?"

Diana snapped back to reality with a jump and shook her head. "No, it's… it's fine. I'm just tired, that's all," She said with a shaky smile. Luna simply looked at her with concern.

Diana dared to look behind her, just to see if her worries were true. But if she did, something might happen. That's how it always played out in the movies after all. So she refrained and decided to pull out her phone.

"Hey, look at this!" Diana said, showing Luna her phone screen. Instead of it being a new film announcement or a trailer for Diana's latest movie, it was a note on her phone. ' I think someone is following us. Keep your eyes on the phone and act natural.

Luna simply smiled. "That looks beautiful. I'm sure the cast will perform quite well."

Diana nodded, writing a new sentence on the note. ' Let's try and throw them off by going to the hotel nearby. After they're gone we'll go back home .'

The two of them engaged in idle small talk, mainly talking about her fellow cast mates. After a few minutes they rounded a corner and entered an A-list hotel, the ones where only celebrities stayed during shoots or vacations with rooms the length of a house and appliances only those with money could afford. Diana never liked going to them. Sure, it's nice and all, but she never liked how it felt so pretentious. She would rather lounge in a motel or a regular hotel.

The two waited in the lobby for a few minutes before Diana checked outside to see if the coast was clear. Once she was sure, the duo left the hotel and went on their way home.

It took them approximately a half hour longer, but they eventually got home, Diana collapsing onto the couch once she had her coat and boots off.

"That was scary," Luna sighed, sitting down across from Diana in her favourite chair.

Diana nodded, reaching for her phone and deleting the note they'd been using. "I shouldn't have dismissed Alice for the day, maybe she would’ve helped or it would’ve made them stop."

Her sister nodded. "Yes, but at least we'll be safe here. No one can get in."

That was true. Luna had amazing foresight that Diana sometimes didn't have and made her sister install an eight foot tall electric fence around the property. Her sister was clearly the one with the mind for safety.

Diana, almost absent mindedly, opened her To-witter app and checked her mentions, just to see if there was anything related to her upcoming projects. But quickly, her heart rate rose and she felt cold chills run across her body. It was almost as if time stopped, like her brain couldn't process what was happening.

Staring her right in the face was a tweet with four photos. All but one of them were taken just moments ago when Diana was walking with Luna. The outlier was the most chilling. It was of Diana's gated house beautifully photographed. If it wasn't so scary, Diana would have to give the photographer credit for it looking so beautiful.

Diana's phone dropped out of her hand and tumbled onto the ground with a shriek.

"Diana! Is everything alright? Do you need me to get an ice pack?" Luna asked, scooping up her sister's phone and kneeling next to her.

"Look at the tweet," Diana said with a shaky voice.

Luna listened and processed the tweet the same way Diana did, except with no shriek or the phone falling out of her hand.

"This isn't good," Luna said. "Has this happened with this account before?"

Diana didn't want to admit it to her sister, but she had too. So she nodded. "Their first tweet was when I returned to Shade Anatomy . It was a regular stan tweet but it started getting, well, weird."

Luna nodded. "Well, it's clear that you aren't safe here. Luckily, I think I know someone you can stay with for a bit."

"But what about you?"

Luna rubbed Diana's shoulder. "I'll stay here. I'll tighten security around here just in case he shows up again."

Diana nodded. "We'll deal with that other part of the tweet later?"

Luna nodded. "Later. Now, I'll help you get some things ready."

"You aren't putting me with someone I don't know of, are you?" Diana asked.

Luna shook her head with a smile. "Of course not! He's a friend I've known for a few years."

"Really? Who is it?"

"Sigma. Sigma Klim."

Sigma Klim Jr was a widely known actor and known as the son of world famous scientist Sigma Klim, hence his name.

His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps. A scientist who would find a new atom or something. But Sigma didn't want that. He wanted bright stage lights on his face and to take on new versions of himself. To let someone take over him and take people on new adventures.

But he wouldn't let what his father wanted guide him in life. So despite all their yelling at each other and his father saying that he knew best, he left home and went to live with his two best friends. And eventually, once Phi and Sigma met, he was living under the same roof with his favourite people.

So he wasn’t surprised when his brother calls him midday. Sigma answered it with a sigh and placed him on speaker, tossing his phone and himself on his bed .

"Yeah, what's up?" Sigma asked even though he had a slight hunch. Kyle never called unless it was their dad or an emergency. Emergencies never happened to their family.

"You know what's up," Kyle responded.

His brother sighed. "Dad again?"

"You know it. This time he's drilling me about the best Universities for science."

Sigma scoffed. "That's what he did to me too. Ran through every single one so in depth that by hour two they all sounded the same."

Kyle sighed. "He's only allowed me one break during this whole thing. I don't get why you couldn't have taken one for the team and stayed dad's perfect son."

"Hey, I decided my needs were more important. I couldn't be like you and go along with it."

Kyle scoffed on the other end. "Right, you and your need to go to the acting world and have cute girls around you all the time."

Before Sigma could even counter he heard his father's voice on the other end.

"Sorry, I gotta go. Dad wants me. See you."

He sighed. "See you, Kyle."

And the phone hung up with a ding.

"I take it that Kyle called?"

Sigma jumped slightly when he heard Phi's voice. He turned his head to Phi leaning against the doorframe, waiting for the okay to come in. He nodded and waved his hand at her, Phi sitting on the bed and placing down a stack of papers once she got the okay.

"Yeah. Dad is drilling schools into him."

"Yikes," Phi said in a deadpan tone.

Sigma nodded. "Yikes indeed," He said before he perked up slightly. "I assume those are new slides?" He asked, picking up a handful and scanning through them.

Phi nodded. "Sure are. All fresh off the press," She answered. "We have action, comedy, dramas, romance," She said listing them on her hand. "You're in high demand for everything."

Sigma chuckled. "I guess that's what I get for deciding to go into the acting biz."

"You bet."

Sigma flipped through them all, trying to find the diamond in the rough. Or the knockout from all the bottled blondes.

He sighed. "So, what's cooked up for the schedule?" He asked Phi.

She brought out her phone from her pockets. "Well, first we have a promo in two hours. That'll last us till six with an hour to spare for Crash Keys' party."

Sigma groaned. "Why did Akane want us to go to that again? It's not like we work there."

Phi chuckled. "Moral support, I guess. She's been stressed about it."

Sigma nodded. Ever since he met Akane she'd always be nervous over something but with unbridled optimism. Sigma could bet that with Akane's personality, she could find a pretty good way to escape death if she wanted to.

Sigma got up from his bed, grabbing his keys from the door and grinning at Phi in the doorway.

"Come on, hot stuff," He said, his voice sounding like a guy on Next Top Model , mid puberty. "It's not everyday you get a drive with me," He motioned up and down his body.

Phi simply glared while she got up from her spot on the bed. She grabbed his keys from him as she passed by him. "I'm driving. Never do that again, you sounded like you were high."

Sigma absolutely hated press tours. It wasn't because of the interviews or whatever else, but because he had to put up a facade the whole time.

Of course he'd still be himself, but he'd have to sanitise himself just a bit. Dial back and seem like the 'Hollywood heartthrob' people wanted him to be.

Maybe that's why he liked Hot Bites with Shawn Evans. The show where he would eat a bunch of spicy wings and answer deep cut questions.

Sigma could feel the heat from the third wing start to mess with him. Notoriously he was never good with spice, but that's only something only the people who were there on December 25th four years ago would know.

"You doing good over there?" Shawn asked, noticing how the heat was getting to him.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine," He said, brushing off the pain and taking another bite of the wing. A big mistake as the heat just kept growing. But he trudged on, eating wing after wing until he hit the biggest hurdle.

It was only known as Da Bomb.

"You ready?" Shawn asked.

Sigma nodded, staring the wing down. "Ready as I'll ever be."

And so Sigma took a big bite and immediately started tearing up. Even worse, he forgot to wipe his hands, so the hot sauce touched right near his eye and made the whole thing worse.

Soon enough, he went on to the last one and fell on the floor, curled up into a ball and in tears as he answered the last question and promoted his upcoming movie.

"That was quite possibly the best interview you've ever done," Phi said between fits of laughter in the car. They'd finally finished all the interviews for the day, Hot Bites being the last. Phi was driving while Sigma drank a slushie, the burn still present in his mouth.

"I don't handle my spice well! It's not my fault," He protested.

Phi laughed. "You're right, it's your parents for the horrible genetics."

"I think I have pretty good genetics if you ask me, aside from the spice intolerance."

Phi grinned. "Keep telling yourself that," She said, removing one hand from the steering wheel to hit Sigma on the back, causing him to nearly choke on his slushie.

"What was that for!?" He asked, rubbing the sore part of his back.

"Cause I felt like it."

Sigma sighed. "I hate you."

Phi smiled. "I hate you more."

Sigma smirked before going back to drinking his slushie.

"Did you get Junpei to get our stuff out for the party?"

Phi shook her head. "Nope. Junpei's busy setting up with Akane and Aoi."

Sigma sighed. "How much time do we have to get ready?"

Phi glanced at the car display. "Probably half an hour."

"We can do it."

They in fact were not able to do it and ended up being late to the party, which Sigma learned was actually an auction type fundraiser for a group called Pyre Survivors.

Sigma and Phi entered the massive ballroom that Crash Keys was using to house the event. Rows and rows of different types of art or valuables that were donated from various sponsors filled the room.

"Phi! Sigma! What took you so long?" Akane asked, herself and Aoi heading right towards them.

"Someone," Phi said, glaring at Sigma, "Had to have their hot wings interview today instead of tomorrow."

"Well, you're the one who handles my schedule, not me," Sigma countered.

Akane simply giggled while Aoi sighed.

"We've been waiting for you two idiots since before the party started," Aoi stated. "Next time, schedule your death sentences for the day after."

Sigma grinned at Aoi. "Will do. Matching with Light?" Sigma asked, noticing how there was a blue handkerchief in the breast pocket of his suit.

A layer of blush coated Aoi's face. Sigma, Phi and Akane giggled at him before Aoi flipped them off and left, entering the sea of people.

Akane sighed. "I should probably get out there too, work the room and everything," She said with a giggle. "Good luck out there!" And with that Akane left, holding up her purple floor length dress slightly so she wouldn’t trip.

Phi and Sigma looked at each other before nodding. Unspoken words said with just a single look. The two walked into the crowd together.

The conversations were typical when Sigma went to parties. What's your upcoming project? Can you tell us anything about the new series coming out? Can you let us in on any secrets? Of course, he couldn't answer anything because of his NDAs. But the question that always came up was one Sigma hated.

"So, do you have a girlfriend?" A lady asked. The question always came up no matter where he was. But the question was always the same.

Sigma shook his head. "I don't have one, no."

The lady chuckled. "Aw, that's such a shame. I'm sure you would be able to score whoever you wanted. Why…"

Sigma could feel his shirt's collar grow tighter and tighter as the lady continued to speak, even if it was just in his head. He flashed Phi a look that was a sign for her to get him out of the conversation. Phi nodded.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry but Sigma has to go out to the hallway for a moment. It’s an urgent matter. I'll be able to answer whatever questions I can though," Phi said. The lady's face dropped and she left, flicking her wrist and mumbling something under her breath.

Sigma patted Phi's shoulder. "Thanks, I owe you one."

Phi shrugged. "It's nothing." She looked up to him and smiled. "Now go out and take a minute, there's no one in the hallway."

Sigma took his hand off of Phi's shoulder. "I'll be back," He told her as he walked away.

Phi smirked. "I know you will."

Sigma stood against the hallway wall, the sound of the crowd still audible. He took a sip of wine from his glass Akane gave him earlier. He'd been talking to people all day that he was starting to feel sleepy. But he would push through for the Kurashikis sake. He sighed.

"What the Kurashikis throw me into," He said to himself.

"Indeed. Me and Aoi throw you into everything, don't we?" Akane said, coming next to Sigma. It was as if saying her last name that she was summoned to Sigma's side.

"Taking a break from playing hostess, huh?" Sigma teased once she was shoulder to shoulder with him. He passed her his wine glass and she accepted it.

“Very funny,” She said, taking a sip. “I just needed some air.”

Sigma nodded. “I get you. Some days I think we all need a break, maybe escape to a private island or the moon.”

Akane smiled. “Me and Aoi could probably buy the moon. Maybe we could build a home up there.”

Sigma looked at her for a moment, thinking she was serious before she laughed. “I’m just kidding! It’s not like it’d be the best idea anyways. Unless it was the apocalypse.”

“You scare me sometimes, Akane.”

She smiled, and somehow or someway, Sigma felt a shiver down his spine. It was almost as if that smile could kill someone. “I know,” She simply said before she took another sip of wine.

From the ballroom, Sigma could see Akane’s boyfriend, Junpei, presumably trying to help sell something. Akane must’ve noticed too as she wore a tender smile on her face. Sigma smiled. There was something special about their relationship that made Sigma almost jealous. How the two of them could make the smallest moments the most magical. Of course Sigma could do that with Akane, Aoi, himself and Phi, but there was something different about it. He really couldn’t place it.

“You better go check up on Junpei before he acts like an idiot and ruins the company,” Sigma remarked. He could see Junpei falling apart at the seams, the old rich couple didn’t seem too happy.

Akane sighed. “You’re right,” She said, giving Sigma his wine back. “Come back to the party soon, okay? I hate when people aren’t having fun,” She said with a smile before running off.

Sigma smiled. He was really lucky to have the Kurashikis and Phi.

Sigma felt a sudden buzz in his pocket. He felt around and pulled out his phone, the screen illuminating his face with a photo of one of the very few redheads he knew. He swiped the screen and brought the phone to his ear.

“Hey, what's up?”

" I need a favour from you ."

Sigma did a double take. It was abnormal for Luna to ask him for favours, usually it was the other way around. So Sigma figured it was one of two options. The first was that she was returning a favour from long ago, one that he forgot about. Or second, she was in serious trouble. He hoped it was the former.

"What do you need?" He asked, a rare seriousness in his words.

" It's my sister, Diana. She needs a place to stay for the night. Would you be able to let her stay at your place? "

Without a moment's hesitation, Sigma agreed.

" Thank you, Sigma! We'll be on our way in a few minutes ."

Sigma smiled. "No problem, Luna. I'll see you soon," And just like that he hung up the phone and placed it back in his pocket.

From what Diana had been hearing about Sigma in the car, she certainly wasn't expecting his place to be as big as it was.

The apartment was the size of the first floor of Diana's house with an open concept. The walls were mainly white, but she noticed that there were a few walls that were purple. The furniture was a mix-match of styles, with the kitchen having a more modern look while the dining room and living room had a more lively look.

To the left of the door there was also a hallway that Diana assumed housed their rooms and two bathrooms from what Luna told her.

As she walked around the apartment, she noticed photos and different kinds of trinkets on the walls and furniture.

The half-wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room had several rabbit crystal statues in different poses displayed. Some of the tables had little decorative bowls or books displayed. It reminded Diana of her home with mixed decor.

She also noticed that the only area with no floor to ceiling windows was a relatively small nook with a bed and a dresser. The dresser and bed were a white wood with light blue and black accents.

"Who stays here?" Diana asked Sigma, prompting him to come up next to her.

"That's where my friend Phi sleeps. She wanted to move in with us so we had this place turned into her bedroom," Sigma explained.

"That's nice of you, Sigma," Diana told him with a smile.

Sigma rubbed his neck. "Thanks."

Diana smiled and walked over to the couch, placing her suitcase and bag next to it.

"Well, I'm going to head to sleep. Goodnight, Sigma," But before Diana could lay down on the couch, Sigma touched her shoulder.

"Diana, you aren't sleeping on the couch."

"I'm a guest here, it's only polite that I sleep on the couch."

Sigma folded his arms. "Diana, I'm not letting you sleep there. That's final."

Diana copied his stance and scrunched her face as if that would convince him and give her the same level of seriousness as Sigma.

Eventually she gave up with a dramatic sigh. "Fine. Doesn't mean I'll like it."

Sigma smiled. "Never said you had to like it," He said, leading her down a small hallway and into his room.

As he opened the door, Diana felt that she stepped into an entirely different environment. The best words she could use to describe the room was a mature version of a college frat boy's room. Or at least what Diana thought I'd be like.

The furniture was a dark brown with navy walls. It would normally pass as a normal room but the walls were covered with different photos of movies and shows she assumed he liked, but underneath she could see glimpses of raunchy posters of women, like something you'd find out of a Playboy magazine. But also in stark contrast was photos of him and his roommates along with different books and scripts around the room.

"Sorry about the room. I would've cleaned it up if I had the time," He said with a chuckle.

Diana gave him a small smile. She couldn't come up with a compliment for the room at all. She wondered how she'd be able to sleep tonight.

Sigma and Diana exchanged smiles in an awkward silence before Sigma patted the doorframe.

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good sleep, Diana."

She smiled. "Goodnight, Sigma."

Sigma arrived down in the lobby just a few minutes after saying goodnight to Diana. Sigma glanced at his phone.

[Moony] meet me in the lobby :)

[Sigma] I'll be down in five

He spotted Luna in a small corner, her red hair noticeable even against the velvet seating.

"What did you need me for?" Sigma asked as he slid next to her.

"To explain what happened with Diana."

Sigma nodded. Truthfully, he had been wondering why Luna asked him to let Diana stay over. He'd met her sister on several occasions but the two never really talked for long. He wondered if it was Diana's idea for a moment but quickly realised it must've been Luna's.

Sigma nodded for her to start.

"Diana is being stalked by a guy across all her social media accounts. He's been following her around and just tonight he found our home address."

Rage flared inside of Sigma. He felt his fists curl and his body temperature rise, Luna must've noticed. "We're alright," She said, placing a hand on his. "Diana was just shaken up about it. Since it isn't safe at our house I thought I'd send her over to you."

"But what about you? Are you safe?" Sigma asked.

Luna smiled. "I am. I'm planning on staying over at Alice's," She told him, his nerves calmed instantly. He knew Alice would be able to take care of her, she was her bodyguard after all.

"But that's besides the point. On the post with our house, he addressed Diana as his 'girlfriend'," She explained. Sigma could feel his stomach turn. Fame was a sick thing at times.

"So, I have one last favour to ask you, Sigma."

"What is it?"

"I want you to pretend to be my sister's boyfriend."
