If Alhaitham isn't autistic then I'm not real

Summary:

"Alhaitham! Important!" His (annoying) roommate, Kaveh interrupted his beautiful alone time. He rushed up to him in a frenzy, "there's this very important restaurant I must be at for work and if I show up alone I'll look like an idiot! Please join me!! Pleaseee!!"
Alhaitham looked up from his game, sighing, "archons, I wish this thing had a headphone jack so I had an excuse to ignore you…"

Notes:

maybe one day I'll figure out how to finish this

Chapter Text

Alhaitham was playing a game while sitting on his bed, as per usual. Why work overtime when you have games to attend to?

"Alhaitham! Important!" His (annoying) roommate, Kaveh interrupted his beautiful alone time. He rushed up to him in a frenzy, "there's this v ery important restaurant I must be at for work and if I show up alone I'll look like an idiot ! Please join me!! Pleaseee!!"

Alhaitham looked up from his game, sighing, "archons, I wish this thing had a headphone jack so I had an excuse to ignore you…"

"Hey! This is a serious discussion!!"

Alhaitham chuckled softly to himself, "fine, but I'm only coming for the food… also because I doubt you;ll be able to pay for it," he said the last part under his breath, luckily Kaveh didn’t hear it.

"Okay thank the archons I thought I was gonna be alone… anyways it's actually… right now!! I need to get you into something tolerable," he dragged him to the closet and looked through the other's clothes, grabbing and throwing most of it to the ground.

"Ugh do you have anything that's more than casual wear!? What do you even wear to work?"

Alhaitham, in response, just stared at him.

"You're so unhelpful, you know that?" Kaveh rolled his eyes, searching for anything palatable.

"Something! Just find me something! Anything!-" He looked back to Alhaitham, who seemed to be on his phone now, "ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING!?" He yelled as he pulled the cord off the phone, forcing Alhaitham to look up at him.

"What the hell is wrong with you," he watched him for a reaction.

"I can't find ANYTHING that's even a semblance of an outfit! All you have is sweats and more sweats!!! Disgusting!" He stormed out of the room, probably going to find something from his wardrobe for Alhaitham to wear… it might be a bit small though.

Alhaitham took this opportunity to go back to his bed and pretend like this never happened. Maybe Kaveh would forget and just go alone.

The blonde eventually came back with a hanger with a suit on it, "I finally found something!" He gleamed, "I bought it a year ago or so but it was a little too big for me, to you it goes!" He threw it on his face and left to let him get changed.

Alhaitham blinked behind the fabric, not expecting this outcome at all, "I see…" he grabbed the hanger and got it off his face.

He looked around before sighing, "I hope it doesn't show sweat stains…" He looked at it like it was a literal piece of shit.

Alhaitham eventually got it on, but it took all of his dignity and a bit of laying on the floor feeling like the world is about to end at any moment. But he was done with that for now.

He inched to the door, opening the door slowly to look for where Kaveh was in the room. He knew he'd have to see him eventually but he really didn't want Kaveh to see him now, he looked not like a clown but the entire circus.

Unluckily for him, Kaveh was inches away from the door, instantaneously opening the door, "oh my god you look perfect! I was so right green wasn't my color, it was yours! I'm so good at outfit coordination. "

Alhaitham felt so stiff, not just because the suit made it impossible for him to move quickly but also because this was awkward as fuck.

"Okay okay I get it! Let's go quickly before we're late!" He somehow took Alhaitham suffering as pestering, okay buddy.

He dragged the barely mobile man to the car and they drove to the restaurant.

They got there just on time as Kaveh dragged Alhaitham to his seat, "why are you moving 2 miles per hour, you're acting like you're dying!"

"I feel like I'm wearing a plastic bag," he stated as he sat down.

"That's because you're used to wearing sweats all the time! I'm sorry that normal clothes aren't as malleable."

"I feel like a cat when you put clothes on them…"

"You'll get used to it," he rolled his eyes as he looked at the menu.

Alhaitham decided to look at the menu as well except everything looked like it was written in gibberish… he squinted his eyes, confused by the strange scriptures-

Before Kaveh flipped his menu, "you were reading it upside-down, idiot," he chuckled before going back to his own menu.

Now the menu was much more readable. However it felt like a maze just to find what he usually ordered at places, and before he knew it the waiter was already there.

"Hello you two, what can I get for you?"

"I'll get the ___."

"Thank you and you?" The waiter looked directly into Alhaitham's eyes and he stared right back. What else was he supposed to do? Order? Hell no, that sounds like a terrible plan that'd end in disaster. " What if what I usually want to order is called something else here ?" And many more thoughts ran through his brain as he tried to figure out the correct answer to this situation.

Before he knew it he felt someone poking him, how annoying, "do you want what you usually get?" Kaveh asked, a little too nicely for his comfort.

Alhaitham nodded and Kaveh gave the waiter his order and left when they were done writing.

Alhaitham looked around the restaurant for a brief second, putting his hand in his pocket to look for a phone that didn't exist. It was in his other pants…

With nothing to distract him, he stared into Kaveh's soul, hoping to find something entertaining.

Kaveh eventually got spooked by this endeavor, "wh- why are you staring at me like your life is about to end!?"

"Maybe because it is," he said in a tone that Kaveh couldn't decipher.

"Alhaitham you idiot! Archons, you scared the shit out of me! I thought you were actually dying, sorry for being sooo empathetic," he rolled his eyes and went back on his phone, Alhaitham was very jealous of his ability to shut the world out just like that.

Alhaitham looked down at his feet, not knowing what to do with himself. He got bored and looked back up, only to see Kaveh was still on his phone, unsurprisingly.

"Kaveh," his mouth said without his brain's permission.

Kaveh snapped off his phone and looked at him yet again, "what do you want now? To tell me how shit the restaurant is? How fancy-prancy and stuck up the people are?"

Alhaitham tilted his head, "nooo…?"

Kaveh rolled his eyes… again, "mhm, sure. Whatever you say 'Haitham," the conversation seemed to have ended again as he went back onto his phone.

Alhaitham shuffled in his seat as he awkwardly looked around, " is it 'fancy-prancy' as he said… hah, 'fancy-prancy' who even says that? " He chuckled to himself the tiniest bit.

Kaveh caught wind of it and looked at him weirdly, "why are you… laughing?"

He shook his head, "just a joke came into my head, nothing important," he looked the other way.

He seemed to have gotten Kaveh off of him, thank lesser lord Kusanali that he backed off. However, now he's back to square one…

"Kaveh…"

"What do you want this time?"

"Do you expect me to sit here and do nothing? Unlike you, I have no ability to distract myself because you rudely took that ability from me."

Kaveh rolled his eyes, for a third time, and put his phone away, "so, Alhaitham , what do you wish to talk about?"

"Well actually recently in a book a read-"

"Never mind."

"Why can't I talk about it?"

"I didn't say you couldn't but I'd rather we talk about something we both are interested in so we both gain enjoyment from it."

"I guess that makes sense, however we could also take turns, not making it too exhausting for the other."
