Chapter 1: Prequel

Chapter Text

"This is Niahara, we've secured the boat. No one lives. There was three people on board. Two adults. And.. Holy shit. I think the kids still breathing." A shoe came into contact with your calf. "Hey shit head! You still alive? Get the fuck up!" You scrambled to your feet. 'What's happening?' You put your hands into the air at his request.

"Fuck, no one said there was a kid involved in this. If I had known this I wouldn't have agreed to this job." He grabbed your wrist. "You're coming with me." He pulled you over to the side of the boat. "Jump in." You hopped down to his boat. It was much smaller than your father's boat. You pulled into yourself. He jumped on board.

"I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me." You curled into a ball at the opposite end of the boat as him.

"Just be quiet. I'm tryna figure out what to do with you." He glared at you. "Shit, im so against killin' little kids. Kori knows this. Fuck. He musta set me up." Tears swelled down your cheeks. You pulled yourself as tight as you can. He sped away from your boat. The gentle waves rocked you to sleep.

After that everything was a blur. You remember waking up, eating, sleeping. It repeated for a few days until the men taking care of you decided you weren't worth the trouble and threw you into the streets. You had know clue what was happening. It was all so fast. You spent weeks out there. You only truly came to around a month after the incident. You were laying in an alleyway. You hadn't eaten a true meal in weeks.

At the end of the alley there were two people. One looked old, the other looked a tad bit older than you. Maybe 15? You weren't quite sure. The two started fighting. You watched as they stabbed at each other angrily. Eventually they both dropped against the pavement. Hungry. You crawled over to their bodies. Looking into their faces you recognized the old man. It was your earlier assailant. You knew by the scar that ran along his face. He eyes fluttered open.

"Holy shit. Is that really you? I should have shot you when I had the chance. You fucked my life up good." He staggered to a standing position. "Fuck, I'm bleeding so bad. Whatever. If I'm gonna die I needs go out on a good note." He lunged at you, pushing you to the ground. His weight held you down. He felt along your body. 'No no no no.' Your thoughts raced. He pulled your shirt off and then moved down to his waist struggling with his buckle. 'Ahh help. Please god. I'll be good. Please. Don't let this happen.' Once more tears streamed down your face. You zoned out as much as you could. You only came back when you felt him slump against your body. He had finally croaked. You pushed as hard as you could to get him off of you. You reached out for the boy he had attacked earlier. Pulling against him you felt his pulse resume. He sat up startled.

"AGHHHH FUCKK IT HURTS." His uncovered eye darted around. It finally landed on you. "Shit, kid are are you okay?" He pushed the man from atop of you. "Shit, what did he do while I was down? Boss is gonna be so pissed." He wrapped a coat around your shoulders and ran off. His beautiful brown hair and bandages wad the last thing you saw.

Once more you blacked out. This time you came to in a building. You're looked around. You locked yes with a woman in an officer suit. She walked over to you.

"Hey there, how do you feel? Are you hungry? Thirsty?" She spoke quietly and slowly. You tried to use your voice but all that came out was a scratchy groan. "Oh dear, you can't speak? That's alright. I'm gonna get you some food and water. You stay here. Your safe now. Deep breaths okay?" You hadn't even realized you were hyperventilating. You nodded. She stood and walked out the door. You took this time to look down at yourself. You were in a plain black t-shirt and basketballs shorts. The coat from the boy was laid next to you on the armrest of the chair. It was dirty and torn up. You sat and waited until the women returned. In her hand was a bottled water and a pastry.

"Sorry if it's not the best meal. It's all I could find that wasn't gross or already claimed by another officer." She placed the food on the coffee table infornt of you and then took up a chair across from you. She watched you. Smiling. You reached for the food and the water and dug right in. God It tasted so good. "Don't eat to fast darlin. It's not good for you." She reached over and out her hand on your shoulder. You flinched. She pulled away and frowned. "I'm so sorry. I should have warned you before I touched you."

The officer gave you a run down of all that had happened in the last 24 hours since you'd been brought to the office. Apparently you had been found by a group of officers doing there daily patrol. They saw you and had thought you were dead. The man next to you had been dried out to a raisin just like the fish. The officer had arranged for you to be sent to an orphanage in the country. You would move in with them once everything at the office had been wrapped up and you had received proper medical treatment. It was strange to you that you were being sent so far, but you couldn't really question it. You helped as much as you could with the investigation and were given clothes then got sent on your way.
