Notes:

Hi! This is technically not my first fic because a few weeks ago I actually started writing a Dazai/Reader fic but I ended up working on this one more. The main character is actually an OC of mine so I'm sorry I didn't make it gender neutral but I tried my best not to over characterize her so people could still be immersed. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: 1. A Business Transaction

Chapter Text

No matter where she went, flowers followed

She had owned the clinic for god knows how long. What started as an inheritance gift from her parents ended as a nonstop one-man job, a very strenuous one at that. After all, she was only 16 and working in some clinic hidden on the unpopulated fringes of Yokohama. Unfortunately for her, the day came where her clinic was filled with people who had no intention of being treated. Her boring yet fulfilling peace had been infringed on. Nakahara Chuuya fidgeted his fingers in his pockets out of anticipation. He had no clue why his boss, Ougai Mori, was intent on making a visit to this rundown building along with several armed men. A personal visit from the boss of the Port Mafia was a once in a lifetime opportunity if you were an average person, and it was even rarer to be confronted with not only the boss but two of his most demonic subordinates.

"Chuuya~ are you scared?" an annoyingly jubilant voice rang out.

"Of course not asshole! I just wonder what we are getting ourselves into"

Him and his partner, Osamu Dazai always were butting heads but in a way, it kept both of them grounded.

Dazai leaned back into the car seat and closed his eyes "We are probably here just for intimidation purposes. Maybe even a business deal? I can't see any other reason for us to be going out with our boss for a simple execution." He said in a nonchalant tone, eyes closed.
"Tch" Chuuya turned away to look out of the window on his side. He despised that Dazai always ended up being right.

The blurred greenery from the window suddenly became clear as the car had stopped. They both jumped out, rejoining Mori and the group of armed men. The building could barely be called one. It looked more like a shack decorated with the overgrown foliage clasping onto the walls and roof. With a wave of Mori's arm, all the men surrounded the building forming a near-tight wrap on the perimeter. He walked to the door with his hands clasped behind his back, Dazai and Chuuya following close behind. "I do apologize for not informing you both what you are here for today. I felt as telling you beforehand would alter the course of my plans so I hope you understand. Now, Chuuya." Obeying orders, Chuuya placed his hand on the mossy door and flung it off the hinges and into the back wall using his gravity manipulation. He heard a girl gasp. Paradoxical to how the door was opened, Mori strode in calmly and once again Dazai and Chuuya followed.

The inside of the building was completely different from the outside. It was in pristine condition, as if they had all stepped into an official hospital. Even Dazai seemed surprised as his eyes scanned the room. His and Chuuya's awe was cut short as Mori turned to the counter on the other side of the room. Their gazes follow his and landed on a girl their age. She was standing tall with her hands on the counter but her facade was given away by the nervousness knit into her brows. "(l/n) (y/n) I take it?" Mori called out slowly closing the distance between them. She remained silent. "An unsuspecting clinic on the outside but very lovely on the inside, I would have loved to work here when I was younger. Speaking of youth, aren't you a little young to be working as a...?" Mori trailed off, insisting a question. The silence continued until it was broken by Chuuya. "Oi answer the boss when he's speaking to you!" Her body flinched. "Now now Chuuya, we did just break down her door. Must you always be such a nuisance?" Dazai sighed out before crossing the room and taking a seat in one of the waiting chairs. "Though, if I were her, I would provide an answer soon." His eyes narrowed at the girl as he propped his head on his hands. Though Chuuya wanted to berate Dazai, now was not the time. He looked back to (l/n) who was locked in Dazai's gaze.

"Doctor. I-I'm a Doctor with a speciality in pharmaceuticals. I learned from my parents at a young age" (l/n) said as steadily as she could.

Mori grinned. "How interesting, and considering the situation your clinic is in right now I'm sure we don't need to introduce our professions to you. Right?"

(y/n) swallowed. It could only be the Port Mafia after all. She's heard of the orange haired gravity manipulator and the ruthless killing machine wrapped in bandages. She wasn't entirely sure who the man was but she assumed he was of even higher status than the legendary duo in front of her. "right... What do you want? I don't think I've done anything worthy of this visit."

Chuuya was fidgeting again and Dazai looked bored to bits. He would have made fun of Chuuya again had the situation been so strung out and serious.

"Ah straight to the point, just how I like my girls." She grimaced. "For this portion of our meeting with dear (l/n), I will have you boys step out." "Boss, are you sure?" Chuuya questioned him. "She poses no threat, come on Chuuya." Dazai was already heading out when he grabbed Chuuya by the back of his collar and pulled him along. "Dazai what the fuck let go of me!" Their bickering faded into the distance. The short first encounter of the teens was mainly so Mori could press the gravity of the situation. To reinforce the importance of this meeting to her.

Mori turned back to (y/n) and smiled. "I can't imagine work has been easy for you all alone in this secluded place nonetheless. And yet... Every one of your patients no matter the issue said that you treated them perfectly and in a timely manner. Perhaps an ability was the reason for this? Assuming you know what they are?"

(y/n) willed her eyes not to widen and for her expression to remain blank.

"Not at all. I just had adequate training"

"Are you sure? Do you really want to lie to a man like me?"

Her brows furrowed.
"I have no way of proving what is not there, sir."

Mori laughed emptily "I guess so huh (l/n). Well that didn't matter much to me anyway, ability or not you are a renowned doctor in a way. A type of doctor the Port Mafia is lacking after all." She could not stop herself from gasping. "You don't mean?!" "Oh but I do, in fact-" "I'm sorry but I will have to decline" She said hastily. Mori glowered at being cut off and her blatant rejection. "Excuse me? I am offering not only a steady job but safety and protection. You do understand in an instant I could order you to be killed? Or maybe I'd have a Chuuya destroy this clinic of yours? I could do so much worse than put this offer on the table (l/n), and you deny it?" (y/n) was trembling lightly. "I don't want to help those who would take someone else's life in an instant if they looked at them funny. I want to live peacefully."

"Hmm" Mori mused "But isn't it a doctors job to save everyone? All life should matter to you indiscriminately, no?" "..." The people here need me, I'm the only medical aid in this area. She thought to herself somehow hoping that these words would be transported into Mori's mind. "Silence again? I don't respect how you've been treating me dear but it guess it can't be helped" Mori got up and started out the door. "I'll be in touch." (edited)

Once he was out the door (Y/n) collapsed over the counter breathing heavily. She had no idea what he had in store for her future and dreaded it.

"Mori-san!" Chuuya sprung off of Dazai who was being held to the ground before Mori came out. "We are going back to HQ boys, but I suspect the business proposal will take a few days to go through." "You were successful?" Dazai questioned tilting his head

"Less than I would have wanted out of this transaction but yes."
