Work Text:
"You're so goddamn annoying." Alhaitham snapped with a very rude attitude, preparing to flip the page.
Kaveh was dumbfounded. It was sad to know that someone you liked couldn't accept the real you. It's giving him thoughts such as, 'am I really that annoying? Is there something wrong with me?'
"Sorry." Kaveh spoke under his breath and walked to his room. He has this expressionless, pokerface whenever he felt ashamed of his emotions. But on the inside he was hurt, his heart was slowly breaking, about to shatter into millions of pieces that won't be able to be fixed again. From then on, ever since he was insulted, he had acting weird from Alhaitham's point of view. He was quiet. Sure, it was a tiny insult. But he's heard it too many times now. Plus the fact that it came from his roommate, it honestly made him feel mixed emotions.
"Are you avoiding me?" Alhaitham put his book down while relaxing on the couch when Kaveh stepped out of his room. Kaveh looked exhausted.
"Sorry, I'm too busy to speak right now." Kaveh tiredly said and prepared to walk out of the house with his shopping bags but he stopped at the opened door, "I'll be gone for a while." Hands clenching onto the bags in anger. He didn't even look into Alhaitham's eyes. He was looking outside, straight forward. He couldn't bear to look at him.
He quietly closed the door. Does he not know how he feels after the countless insults?
Alhaitham couldn't care less about being ignored and so he picked up his book and resumed to his reading.
-
The tall and handsome blonde hair was walking with two shopping bags in both hands which were filled with plenty and nutritious food.
"It's getting late.." He stopped to look at the big, blood orange sky, the sun coming down while the white specs start to appear.
Kaveh was a hard worker. He took care of his roomate, does the chores and prepares the three meals every single day without fail. He does literally all the housework plus his job, working late and waking up early. Though, he doesn't care anymore, he's done it so many times that he's grown used to it. He was quickly walking back to his house, he was a very busy man and thinking about his next project that he's starting to work on. He stopped at the door, putting one shopping bag in the other, looking for his keys which were probably lost in his back pocket with his open hand. He was struggling, moving his hand around. He didn't feel anything. He didn't feel the sharp piece of metal that he needed.
"Shit.." He froze into place. He had that feeling of forgetting. "I don't think I left it in any stores, I probably have forgotten about it before leaving the house." He sighed in annoyance, rubbing his temples.
Kaveh lifted up his right hand up to the door, closed his hand and used his knuckles to knock on the door.
"Oi, Alhaitham?!" No response. "Alhaitham?" He shouted louder than the first.
Kaveh hit the door multiple times then placed his hand on his right side of his hip, moving his left foot up and down as if he was a rabbit, waiting.
It turns out that Alhaitham was relaxing inside, reading a book with his soundproof headphones as usual. All that Alhaitham does was to read books since he had 'free time' almost every day. Kaveh was confused with why he fell for him since his personality is so dry and annoying. He does nothing around the house and builds up barriers around him, ignoring him and calling him annoying. Kaveh was sadly slowly and starting to fall out of love with him. He was becoming more depressed by his own roomate and daily activities. He was not looking forward to a new day anymore. He wasn't motivated nor wanting to live since he's so poor and pushed around like a piece of trash. If the only person he cared about didn't accept him, what was the reason to keep on waking up to a new day?
Kaveh sighed while squatting down to sit down next to the door. Leaning his back on the wall. He let out a small grunt when he dropped himself. He sighed again, one arm resting on his leg and one leg spread out. He then hugged his legs to his chest, groceries beside him and closed his eyes as the lonely moon rose and the bright sun had set. Kaveh was shivering, his teeth were moving by itself. Feeling his hair annoyingly being blown and flying everywhere by the intense wind. He dug his face into his legs with his arms protecting his head waiting for it to stop.
Kaveh's bottom hurt. It was numb. His sleeping posture wasn the greatest either. He rested his chin on his arms, kind of just spacing out. He blinked his eyes more since he was being blinded by how the sun was so bright, wishing that the sun could just explode already even if he was used to his life, he was just getting bored of it. He couldn't get up. His body hurt when he moved a muscle. Though, he surprisingly had a lovelier sleep than usual. He'd rather sleep outside of his house on the hard floor than inside, working late. Luckily it's a Sunday. Kaveh was just peacefully thinking about things and spaced out again, relaxed until he was hit, resulting with a large thud sound.
Kaveh had the house door slammed on his right shoulder. "Hey, that hurt a lot!" He frowned and stood up, placing his hand on his right shoulder, feeling the pain . "The fuck was that for?" He hissed while crossing his arms.
Alhaitham took off his headphones to listen clearly, "gee, sorry." Kaveh's roommate Alhaitham, had finally stepped out of the house but always with that same annoyed expression. He always looked annoyed. Even when reading his books, it's probably just a resting expression.
"You're so annoying." Kaveh let out a 'hmmph' crossing his arms and avoiding eye contact.
"Where were you yesterday?" Alhaitham was angry and tried to ignore him but with a straight face.
Kaveh scoffed. "It's not like you care, it doesn't even look like you give a single shit." Kaveh finally faced him. "What do you think? I was sitting outside the door, sitting down. What does that tell you?" He stepped closer and his eyebrows punched together even closer with his hand on hi hip.
Alhaitham was shocked for once, "Oh.. I thought you were sleeping at someone else's house," it went silent for a few seconds until he changed back the topic, "you slept out here, are you out of your mind?"
'Huh? Is he jealous or some crap?' Kaveh was curiously thinking. He hasn't seen this side of him before but doubted it. "You didn't answer the door so I had to sleep out here." His tone of his voice had changed to more sadder and disappointed.
"... Well it's not my fault you leave your keys before leaving." Alhaitham tried to think of something so he didn't get the blame.
Though he was right, Kaveh agreed. It wasn't Alhaitham's fault but his own.
"Whatever," Kaveh picked up the groceries (somehow haven't been stolen but it's not as fresh it originally was before) and headed inside to place it in the kitchen. He walked back out the door to Alhaitham. "I'm thinking about moving out." He said it without hesitation, powerfully.
He left Alhaitham flabbergasted. He didn't expect this.
"But aren't you poor?" Kaveh gave him a weird look at Alhaitham when he had just insulted him. "Ah- I mean like.. Where would you stay?" Alhaitham is bad with words.
"I'm thinking of staying with a friend." He obviously lied with his eyes staring at the ground. He really didn't know where to go. Maybe he'd move to Mondstat, a more calm and free region. He needed the time to relax. He had been thinking of restarting his life, something more relaxing and to meet new people. Something to stop him from working as an architect since it was too stressful, or maybe it was just Alhaitham making it stressful.
"And where does this friend of yours live?" Alhaitham angrily crossed his arms.
"Mondstat." He snapped.
"Mondstat?? Are you crazy? That's way too far."
"What do you mean, too far? Can you still not take care of yourself at this age? Plus I can do whatever I want with my life. I want to meet new people but I'm way too busy taking care of you and work, it's the same every day and I am so sick an tired of it, waking up early and sleeping really late. You can't even take care of yourself and yet here I am, wasting my precious time. I am so sick and tired of it!"
He strongly exclaimed, he didn't stutter and he said it quickly.
"I need the freedom, I can't keep living my life like this. It's depressing and I want to try new things before I die. Life is too short and I'm currently wasting it."
He looked down on the floor, drops of water slowly trickled down his cheeks. He witnessed the ground beneath them watching the tears disappear into the ground just like rain. He needed to open up his feelings and to stop bottling it up inside. He lifted up his arms and used his sleeves to wipe his tired eyes. The feeling of a blocked nose has come upon him.
Alhaitham was just standing there. He wasn't good with words but comforting someone? Even worse.
"I- uh.." he was stuttering. Not knowing what right words to get to him. Apologize? He would be mad since its only words, maybe something more than that. A hug? Nah. That's not very powerful. 'Shit,' he thought.
Kaveh was still sobbing into his sleeve. "The truth is, I liked you. 'Liked'. But not anymore, you're such an asshole and you made me fall out of love with you. But it's fine, it's not like you're gay anyway. I bet you can't even score a chick with your attitude and how you live."
He was going all out, it was stabbing Alhaitham right in the heart. Though Kaveh was enjoying this, he could finally speak his mind. Alhaitham was flabbergasted for the second time but he knew that he deserved the dreadful truth. Of course he was angry, but he felt guilty too. Kaveh was being honest.
Alhaitham closed his hands, clenched. He dragged Kaveh back into the house.
*click*
He locked the door. Gently pushing Kaveh against the door, blocking his sides so he can't get away from his sight.
"The hell are you-" Kaveh was cut off from a kiss. A soft kiss. Heart aching and his head spinning, he still enjoyed it. Although it was VERY unexpected and too quick. Kaveh escaped the kiss, needing to breathe again and covering his face. He didn't want Alhaitham to see him blush.
"It's been really quiet without you, I hated it. " Alhaitham gently lifted up Kaveh's chin and lightly pecks his cheek. "Sorry if this isn't enough for you to forgive me. You don't even have to. I was a massive jerk to you." He hugged him tighter now, almost squeezing him until he pops. They could feel eachother's racing hearts thumping against their chests.
Alhaitham grabs Kaveh's hand and leads them to his bedroom since Kaveh needed a proper rest after literally sleeping outside. He lifted up the blankets and waited for Kaveh to join him. He tucked in Kaveh as Kaveh quickly shut his eyes.
Alhaitham slowly placed his headphones on the bedside table to not make any annoying sounds that'll make Kaveh cranky like someone who's just woken up.
"I'm sorry about before." Alhaitham had whispered, looking over Kaveh. Apologizing for the second time. He didn't feel like his apology was enough. But Kaveh just smiled then slowly fell asleep, like a sign that he's forgivien him.
