Work Text:
"Huh... it ain't here." Kohaku quietly panics, the cake he placed in the fridge had gone missing. Removing the items in the fridge one by one, Kohaku carefully looks at the fridge just to make sure he isn't seeing things but it was no lie to his eyes, the cake he placed last night is gone. He doesn't know how it happened but it did.
"Tch, just where did it go?" Kohaku sighs as he puts back the items he removed in the fridge back in. Did someone eat the cake without knowing about it? That wouldn't happen though, there was a note that said the cake is poisonous so nobody would touch it. (The cake being poisonous is obviously a lie. He's giving this to someone and it's not going to end well if they die from the poison.)
Although... Niki might have eaten the cake regardless if it's poisonous or not (only when it's his last resort... probably).
"Hey Niki, did ya eat the cake in the fridge?" Kohaku asks Niki on the phone, he hears munching noises coming from Niki's end which made Kohaku a little anxious.
"What?! There's a cake in the fridge?! Geez Kohaku, you should've told me! I would've brought that with me for my meal *munch* *munch* right now!" Niki replies. It looks like Niki wasn't the culprit, though... Kohaku would really like it if Niki didn't eat when he's on the phone with him
"Stupid, that ain't for you."
"Whaaat?! How rudeee! Who's that for then?"
"None of ya business. By the way, have ya seen anyone get a cake in the fridge by any chance?"
"Nope, *munch* *munch* haven't seen anyone come by the fridge when I was there."
"Ah is that so, then you're safe for now. Enjoy ya meal." Kohaku sighs after he ends the call leaving Niki in confusion. "Looks like he isn't the culprit for this one... What do I do now? I can't ask HiMERU-han to help me look for who the culprit is since he's busy, having Rinne-han help me is just a lost cause, and I ain't gonna ask Ibara-han to give me access to the information room just for this..." Kohaku struggles to think of a plan until an unexpected fellow enters the room.
"Haha~ Hey, Kohaku-san! Sora's seeing that you're not doing okay! Is there something troubling you?" It was Sora, mysteriously appearing right in front of Kohaku's eyes that made him twitch.
"A-ah Harukawa-han, it ain't nothing big to worry about..." Kohaku responds, he doesn't want anyone to drag into this small problem that he's embarrassed about.
"Hoho~ But Sora is seeing that you're looking like you're in a big pinch right now! Would it be alright if Sora could help? They say, 'two people makes it easier than one' after all!"
Kohaku thinks, with Sora's ability, he might be able to see if someone is lying, this guess of his might be wrong though. Although he doesn't know how that "ability" of Sora works, Kohaku decides that it would be useful for Sora helping him.
"Alright then, Harukawa-han. I'll let ya join me in finding someone." Kohaku responds. Sora raises his right arm in the sky saying, "Hehe~ Yay! Let's do our best, Kohaku-san!"
Kohaku explains to Sora everything that happened, why he was searching for the missing cake and so on before they start. After the explanation, the search for the cake thief finally commenced.
"It's Koha-chan and Sora-chan! Yahoo~☆" Running through the halls towards Kohaku and Sora was Mitsuru, looking excited as ever.
"Oh, Mitsu-chan! How are you doing?" Sora asks after giving Mitsuru a high-five.
"I'm doing great! What are you two doing though? Walking around and asking people around the building.... Oh! Are you like some secret spies where your aim is to take the golden bread?!"
"We ain't like that at all... And what do ya mean about the golden bread yer talkin' about?" Kohaku asks but Mitsuru ignores it by running around as he hums a tune.
"Ah! By the way Mitsu-chan, have you seen anyone go near the fridge last night?" Sora asks as he joins Mitsuru's little race.
"Hmmm... I don't know! I was in our dorm room right after I came back from work!" Mitsuru answers as he and Sora start running around.
"...Did you see anyone near the fridge when you went back from work?" Kohaku asks as he sighs about Mitsuru and Sora starting to go around him.
"Nope but you should ask Hibiki-senpai since he left our room last night!" Mitsuru stops running around and Sora follows, "Anyways, gotta go! Good luck on finding whatever you guys are finding!" Mitsuru starts running through the halls as he waves at Kohaku and Sora.
"Bye Mitsu-chan! Thanks for the help!" Sora waves back at Mitsuru.
"Looks like we have to go to our next suspect—er… to Hibiki-han then." Kohaku sighs. "Roger that!" Sora happily responds.
"Dai-shisho!" Sora waves at the ever energetic Wataru playing with his birds.
“Oh! Greetings!” Wataru exclaims as his birds fly up in the sky and then land on his hands in order.
“We just wanna ask if-”
“No no no!” Wataru stops Kohaku from speaking as he makes his birds disappear in a flash, “Cut to the chase! Say it in three words or less!”
“Uhh… Cake. Gone. Thief?” Kohaku responds, dumbfounded on Wataru’s sudden behavior.
“Hm hmm, is that so? My apologies, I have not seen anyone with the cake you’re speaking of.”
“Ya understood all that…?”
“Hoho~ Is that so? Well then, we’ll get going now! Thanks for the info Dai-shisho!”
“It’s my pleasure! Take care, you two!” Wataru waves back as Kohaku and Sora leaves.
Kohaku and Sora continue to ask the other idols they meet within the ES building but no clues nor leads are still found. Before Kohaku could give up on the search, a certain blond haired person notices Kohaku and Sora going around and asking people at Cafe Cinnamon.
"Oh my~ it's rare seeing you two together. Mind if I know what you two are doing?" It was Arashi, smiling brightly from seeing Tsukasa's distant cousin hanging out with his friends.
"Oh Kohaku-san, it's Arashi-nee-san!" Sora runs back to where Arashi is as he waves his hand energetically as Kohaku follows behind him.
"Nice to meet ya, Narukami-han. We're going around and asking people if they've seen anyone taking somethin’ from the fridge in the Starmony Dorm."
"Don't tell me the cake has been stolen...?! This is bad news Kohaku-kun! Hold on," Before she could continue, Arashi then stands up and invites the two to take a seat, "you two should take a seat first before we talk about this. I'll go and order drinks for you two."
"Ah, ya don’t hafta... and she left." Kohaku sighs as his attempt to stop Arashi from leaving her seat failed. It's not like they really need to have a long talk about this problem but, whatever suits her, Kohaku says at the back of his mind. A few minutes later, Arashi comes back with a tray of drinks in her hand.
"Here you go! I ordered you two parfaits, take this as my treat." Arashi gives Sora and Kohaku each a parfait as she returns to her seat, "You two take your time, because I've got a feeling that this will take a while." Arashi smiles as she takes a sip from her cup of coffee.
"Uh... Narukami-han, this ain't gonna take a while though..." Kohaku quietly responds.
"It's fine Kohaku-san! If Arashi-nee-san treats us with a drink, we might as well finish it! Plus, we've been going around the building for hours so we might as well take a rest here." Sora reassures Kohaku as he takes a bite from his parfait.
"Well, ya do have a point... Guess I'll eat this then. Thanks for the treat, Narukami-han."
"You're welcome! Let's go back on topic, shall we?”
Kohaku explains to Arashi about the missing cake and how Sora is joining him in finding who took the cake from the fridge.
"Oh my is that so… I'll go inform the other Knights members about this. I would love to join you two however, I have an interview to do soon. See you two later at the party okay? If the cake still isn't found a few minutes before the party, we'll just have to buy a new one." Arashi responds as she takes a sip from her coffee.
"Huhu~? A party you say? Who's it for, Arashi-onee-san?" Sora asks.
"Oh Sora-chan, you didn't know yet? Well, since you're a close friend of Tsukasa, I'll tell you then. We'll be holding a surprise party for Tsukasa later at the Starmony Dorm. Me, Kohaku, and the other members of Knights have prepared a cake the night before however, it's been stolen by someone. I seriously won't forgive the person who stole the cake!"
"I see! So that's why Kohaku-san's color looked so gloomy and anxious the whole time! You really don't want that cake to go to waste huh~?"
"W-what? W-well we really worked hard on it so it'll really be a waste for it to be taken by someone else… I-I ain't that worried about it though." Kohaku replies as he tries to hide his embarrassment badly.
"Oh come on~ There's no need to be embarrassed about being worried about the preparations for Tsukasa-chan's birthday, you know?" Arashi teasingly speaks.
"W-who said that I'm worried about it?! I'm sure I'm not!" Kohaku quickly answers as Arashi and Sora chuckle in laughter.
"Goodness!" Arashi looks at her phone surprised, "It's time for me to go already."
"Don't worry about us Arashi-onee-san! We'll be able to find the cake just in time for the party!" Sora reassures Arashi as she takes her things from the table.
"Thank you, I'll be leaving the cake-finding to you two then. See you later!" Arashi waves at Sora and Kohaku with the two waving back as she leaves.
"Hmm… Having said all that, we still haven't found any useful information yet…" Kohaku sighs as he and Sora go back to the Starmony Dorm.
"Sorry for not being way too much of a help, Kohaku-san…" Sora quietly apologizes.
"Woah there's no need for ya to apologize, Harukawa-han. You've been a big help ya know?" Kohaku gently pats Sora on the shoulder.
"Is that so? Haha~ Sora's relieved to hear that!" Sora replies as he hugs Kohaku as thanks.
"Oh~? 's weird seeing you two together. Somethin' up?" Rinne approaches Sora and Kohaku just as they arrive at the Starmony Dorm.
"Rinne-han? Whatcha doing here?" Kohaku asks Rinne with a bothersome look.
"Nothing to be honest~ Oh, but I ate some cake that was from the dorm's fridge." Rinne replies as he remembers the cake's taste with a happy tune.
"...What did ya say?" Kohaku asks Rinne with a threatening tone, trying to keep himself from strangling him.
“Hey hey, chill! What’s with the look you’re giving me right now?!” Rinne asks as he quickly hides behind Sora.
“Were ya the one who took the cake from the fridge?” Kohaku ignores Rinne’s question and asks him once again. This time, Kohaku slowly walks towards Rinne with a menacing aura.
“I have no idea why you’re so overprotective over a piece of cake but I swear I didn't steal it! It was already there at the kitchen table when I ate it! Besides, I’m not the only one who was eating the cake.” Rinne responds as he slowly backs away from Sora’s back.
“Harukawa-han, can ya tell me if he’s telling the truth?” Kohaku asks.
“Hmmm, Sora’s seeing that Gambler-onii-san’s color isn’t looking suspicious at all.” Sora responds as he looks at Rinne.
“Okay then,” Kohaku pauses, trying to cool himself, “You get to live. We’re going to the kitchen, Harukawa-han.”
“Hihi~ Okay! Goodbye Gambler-onii-san!” Sora waves at Rinne as he and Kohaku leave the entrance and go to the kitchen. Dumbfounded, Rinne tries to process the sudden near-to-death he experienced just because of him eating cake as Kohaku and Sora leaves.
“Damn… What the hell did I just go through?”
Busting the door to the kitchen wide open (Gently. Kohaku doesn’t wanna get scolded over a door being broken.), Kohaku scans the kitchen and sees an extremely familiar red-haid sitting on the couch, one that he had been desperately trying to avoid from finding out anything about the cake he and the other members of Knights made.
“Hey Bon, what are ya doing here?” Kohaku reluctantly calls out to the person sitting at the couch. As he slowly walks towards the couch, Kohaku stares at what the person is eating in shock, confusion, and surprise. It was the cake they made for the person eating it as of this moment.
“Oh hey Kohakun—”
“YOU WERE THE CAKE THIEF ALL ALONG?!?!” Kohaku screams at Tsukasa, the confirmed cake thief, making the latter almost jump out of his seat.
“E-excuse me?!? Did I do something wrong…?” Tsukasa asks as he sees Sora quickly catching Kohaku who’s soul just left his body.
“Ahaha… you see Tsuka-chan, the cake you’re eating right now was supposed to be a surprise for you.” Sora responds as he holds the soulless Kohaku in his arms.
“Hello hello?? We just heard a loud scream and came here as quick as we could and—OH MY GOSH?!? DID KOHAKU JUST DIE?!?” Leo screams in shock as he sees Kohaku’s soulless body.
“Stupid. He’s not dead. He’ll be back in a few minutes.” Izumi smacks Leo's back for his stupidity. “Probably.” Ritsu quietly adds but also gets smacked by Izumi.
“Looks like the cat’s out of the bag now.” Arashi sighs in relief, “Was the cake delicious, Tsuka-chan?”
“Hmph, of course it is.” Izumi chimes in to answer for Tsukasa as he walks towards him, “It’s to be expected from this little gluttonous king of ours.”
“O-ow! Sena-senpai, please stop pinching my cheeks!” Tsukasa pleads but Izumi doesn’t stop and continues to pinch him harder.
“At least the cake didn’t go to waste! After all, the person who ate the cake was the one we prepared it for!” Leo happily hums as he all of sudden starts scribbling on a sheet of paper.
“Yup, you’re right. We can always make another one so there’s no need to be sorry for~” Ritsu reassures Tsukasa as he sits beside him and pats his back.
“Anyways, it’s time for us to go to the birthday venue. We can just buy a cake during the party.” Arashi notifies everyone in the room.
“Actually, me and Kohaku-san bought a cake while we were searching for the person who took the cake just in case it’s already eaten.” Sora responds with Kohaku (Who’s soul is now back to his body. yippee) carrying a box with a see-through opening showing a cake that’s decorated with detailed frosting that has strawberries placed on top in perfect order and colorful sprinkles.
“This ain’t grand compared to the one we prepared for ya but, I hope ya like it.” Kohaku gives the box to Tsukasa with an embarrassed face.
“Looks like the cake problem has been solved! Thanks for buying the cake for us, you two!” Leo hugs Kohaku and Sora as thanks for the help they’ve done.
“Alright then, let’s go to the… Oh hey, shitty brat, why are you crying all of a sudden?” Izumi looks at Tsukasa suddenly crying as Ritsu pats his back and Arashi wipes his tears with tissue.
“My apologies… I didn’t expect you all to have prepared something for my birthday today since you guys were avoiding me during work… I really thought you guys were avoiding me on purpose and that made me so worried.” Tsukasa sobs as he gets pampered by Arashi and Ritsu.
“Looks like we took that acting way too far…” Ritsu pouts, “We’re really sorry for that Suu-chan. Please don’t hate us, okay? I promise I’ll make the most delicious sweets for you later.”
“Thank you so much Ritsu-senpai, and to everyone as well. I promise I won’t hate you guys.” Tsukasa smiles as he wipes his tears.
“Okay everyone! It’s time we go, for real this time! Everyone else is waiting for you, birthday boy Suo~” Leo happily sprints to the door waving for everyone to hurry up.
“Geez Leo-kun, you’re telling us to leave when you’re not even waiting for us.” Izumi scolds Leo, making the others laugh.
“Huhu~ Seeing everyone’s beautiful colors right now makes Sora think that we’re like detectives who solved the case!” Sora talks to Kohaku as he cheerfully hums.
“Detectives ya say? I dunno ‘bout that but thanks for helping me, Harukawa-han.” Kohaku smiles. It’s been awhile since he experienced a fun and cheerful experience like this. Although it was a hell of a ride, Kohaku’s happy that he was able to make Tsukasa smile for his birthday.
“It’s Sora’s pleasure to be of help! Let's make Tsuka-chan’s birthday the best birthday he ever had, Kohaku-san! Hahihuheho☆”
