Our little family

Summary:

It is not the Petters who raise Bloom as their daughter after Aster Dell, but Farah and Saul, but the day comes to tell her the truth about her origin. How will Bloom take it? Will she be able to forgive her parents for hiding the truth from her?

Work Text:

"Why didn't you tell me all this? Why didn't you tell me the truth before?" The teenager stood up from the couch where she was sitting before, the anger and bewilderment of the words that had been revealed to her reflected in her gaze.

"Bloom, it's true that what we did may not have been the right thing to do but unlike Sky's past, yours to us is a mystery still, beyond Rosalind abducting you before we destroyed Aster Dell we couldn't have answered you the questions that would have arisen when you were growing up, even today the pieces of your origin are not clear" Farah spoke softly with a few tears in her eyes as Saul held her hand tightly.

"You always used to tell me I had my father's eyes, what a big lie, it was just a coincidence" Bloom replied with a wry laugh, amidst the tears already rolling down her cheek.

"Bloom you are our daughter no matter what, Saul and I love you and although it seems stupid I really believe you have his eyes, because I see kindness, compassion, love, it's not because of the color Bloom, it's because of what they reflect" said Farah convinced of them, it was true that both had blue eyes but for the mind fairy both Saul and Bloom had the same look, and anyone who saw them wouldn't doubt for a second that they were father and daughter.

"But he's not my father and you're not my mother either" Bloom's voice was now loud and harsh which made even Saul himself sob, who was not prone to such demonstrations even in front of his family. "The only reason I can see you never told me this is because you probably killed my real parents, you are the monsters" Both adults were heartbroken to hear their own daughter's accusations.

"That's not true, Bloom" Saul quickly replied as Farah couldn't utter any words because her wailing wouldn't let her. "If we waited until today it was because we had to be sure that your biological parents were not there, Ben's team's investigation of the remains proved that there was no fairy at the site..." Saul handed her back the folder with the evidence that both Saul and Ella had gathered over all those years with clues to the whereabouts of Bloom's birth parents.

"And how do you expect me to believe you now, after knowing that my whole life is a lie, you have lied to my face for 15 years" the fire fairy paced back and forth indignant at everything she had believed her parents to be up to that point.

"You must believe us when we tell you it was for your own good Bloom" Saul tried to approach the redhead who only moved further away from him towards the front door.

"I never want to see you again, you will never be my parents, I hate you" Bloom yelled at them before running out of the house.

"Bloom..." Farah managed to say as a whisper as she watched her daughter run into the small forest that surrounded their house.

"Let her go, she needs time to process everything we just revealed love" The specialist hugged his wife trying to comfort her somehow as he left soft kisses on her head.

"This is what I was so afraid of, losing her" Farah gently released from his embrace to look into Saul's eyes. "Bloom is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to us and now she hates us Saul, our daughter hates us, she will never forgive us" her bitter crying again returned as she again sank into her husband's arms.

"We couldn't keep hiding the truth either love, sooner or later she would have found out and it's better that she knew from us, I'm sure she'll forgive us you'll see, she just needs a little time" The dark haired man caressed the blonde's back with gentle movements all over her back.

"Saul, it's starting to get dark and Bloom hasn't returned" said the mind fairy who hadn't stopped watching the window since her daughter had left. "I told you, she's too stubborn, she could have even gone to Aster Dell just to see for herself that the place does indeed exist and look for anything that could give her clues about her birth parents, we should go look for her" Farah faced Saul who was leaving us dialing on his daughter's cell phone with no answer.

"I didn't think it would go that far but you're right, I thought she just needed a little time at her favorite place and she would come back as usual, I was stupid" Before hitting the table with the palms of her hands in despair knowing that her daughter had not returned home.

" Don't say that Saul, I'll call Ben and Luna to find out if Stella, Sam or Terra know anything about her, she should have called them or something, they're her best friends" Said the fairy as she grabbed her coat and the keys to the van.

"And Sky" Saul complemented as he walked behind his wife.

"But Sky is in Eraklyon Saul, I don't think Bloom would have gone all the way there to look for her brother, she couldn't either, it's too far" Both of them were already inside the car to drive to the place where everything had happened a few years ago.

"You forget she's your daughter, she could make it all the way to the first world if she chose to" Saul replied with a smile as he concentrated on the road, until he noticed through his link that Farah had remembered the words Bloom had said to them earlier at home, her insecurity was only growing and it hurt Saul. "No Farah, don't think that way, Bloom is your daughter, our daughter, she will always be that way" He looked at her for a moment as he lightly took her hand between his and continued driving, Farah just nodded with her eyes watering.

"I have never asked you for a favor Stella, you need to help me get to Aster Dell, but I also need Sky to be there" Bloom had made it half way to Aster Dell walking when Stella had picked her up in one of the kingdom vans she had taken unnoticed.

"Bloom I don't understand all this" The princess replied as she drove to where Bloom had directed her. "First you call me desperate saying you need me to pick you up on the way it's important, besides Aster Dell ceased to exist long ago the burned destroyed that city" Stella had heard the history of the city from her mother's voice.

"Stella please don't ask me any more questions, if you're not going to help me I can get out right now and continue walking there, I don't need you" the redhead hesitated with taking off her seat belt if her friend replied with a refusal.

"It's okay Bloom, near here there are some ruins, we can use one of those doors as a portal, get Sky and then keep moving towards Aster Dell" Stella fortunately had used the ring before to get to Eraklyon a couple of times to see her boyfriend when he was visiting his uncle.

"Ben told me that Sam and Terra haven't heard from her she hasn't communicated with them, maybe she remembered they were spending the weekend in Limphea with Rose's family. Ben said he'll meet us at Aster Dell" After 15 min down the road Farah had already made the calls to who she thought her daughter might have turned to at a time like that.

"What about Stella?" Saul asked, the princess and his daughter used to be together all the time and that was just a fruit of the relationship his wife had with Queen Luna, even though Stella was a year older than his daughter, it had never been a problem for the two teenage fairies to always find a way to get into trouble together.

"Luna said she'd call me as soon as she could" Farah kept looking at her phone waiting for someone to get through with news of Bloom. "It's her" she said as soon as her cell phone lit up with her best friend's name. "Luna, what did Estella tell you?" Farah replied in a desperate manner.

"Estella's not here Farah, and neither is the ring..." She had rarely heard her friend falter and that it was precisely now did not please her at all.

"Do you think they could have used it?" asked Farah fearfully, if so her daughter could be anywhere, maybe as Saul said, she could have gone to the first world, of which she had told him so many stories, it was so big she couldn't find her.

"Stella barely knows how to use it, I hope for her sake she doesn't" Luna replied worried, using a ring to open a portal was something that took practice and although her daughter was good, it was always a danger if it wasn't well used. "Farah what the hell is going on?" the queen asked her friend confused, it was true that the two fairies always got into trouble, but Farah's voice was the one that had worried her and now that her daughter was also missing it just had to mean that something big had happened.

"Bloom knows the truth Luna, this afternoon Saul and I told her that we are not her biological parents" Farah said in a still sad voice remembering what it had been like to tell her daughter that she was not the woman who had given her life.

"I am so sorry Farah" The light fairy's voice was sincere, she knew the whole truth about Bloom and how her friends even though the kingdom had offered to care for her in a center with other children whose parents had died during the war, they decided to give the baby a home. "Right now I'm going out to Aster Dell, if somehow Bloom and Stella try to break the spell and it backfires on them, the magic could bounce back at them" Luna reminded even more worried, the spell they had put on Aster Dell was a powerful one and not just any witch could break it.

"Believe me we are doing everything we can to get there in time Luna" Farah knew her daughter was powerful but she was not yet in control of her powers, just next year she would be entering Alphea, she knew the basics but breaking a protection spell was advanced.

"I know, I'll see you there, I'll keep trying to communicate with Stella" As soon as Luna said this she was already walking out of Solaria's palace ready to take the road to the small town that was once Aster Dell.

"Thank you" Farah managed to say before hanging up.

"What's all this Bloom why so much mystery? Dad and mom are going to kill us" Assured Sky who was barely processing that they had to leave Eraklyon castle and then drive to where it looked like a simple plain near the sea.

"They are not our parents Sky" Bloom turned to face his brother, everyone knew Sky was Andreas' son only Sky had always found it natural to call Farah and Saul his parents "Why do you hold murderers in such high regard?" the fire fairy finished off angrily.

"I'm not going to let you talk about them like that Bloom, they gave us the family that the war and Rosalind stole from us" Sky was one of the few people Bloom paid a little attention to besides her parents of course, though now that seemed to have disappeared.

"So you know, you know they aren't my parents either" He said realizing that his brother hadn't seemed surprised by what she had told him and also had mentioned Rosalind, to Bloom that felt like a betrayal since siblings told each other everything.

"Wait, I'm lost here can someone explain to me what you're talking about?" Stella who had only been watching them asked surprised by Bloom's and Sky's own statements, although she still couldn't understand Bloom physically looked a lot like their parents, or was it just because she had grown up with that idea.

"That Stella, Farah Dowling and Saul Silva are not my parents" Saying their full names felt like a blow to her, but at that moment she felt so much anger at them, even though it had hurt her to say they were not her real parents. "They killed my real parents to keep me" Bloom said convincingly, even though she knew she might regret her words later, anger had taken over her.

"That's not true Bloom, Rosalind was the one who did all this" Sky who knew the truth not only about him but about Bloom answered him, her parents had revealed this to her when they felt Sky was ready and mostly because they knew that he as her older brother would always be there to protect her.

"How do you know Sky, were you there? Or did they tell you? They brainwashed you Sky" Bloom asserted still hurt at how Sky had kept the truth from her as well.

"Because I know them and I know they don't lie, please Bloom they are the people who raised us, how can you doubt them, who gave us all their love no matter that we didn't carry their blood, how can you doubt their word when all they have taught us all our lives is to be loyal" Sky loved her father, he had taught him everything he knew about being a man of honor and his mother everything about being a gentleman, both how to be a good person, there was no one who could make him doubt the people he loved most in the world.

"Besides Bloom there is nothing here, Aster Dell city is supposed to be here but there is nothing, I told you" Stella said who was holding Sky's hand after feeling how her boyfriend had become a little sad to see Bloom doubting his family.

"I can feel it Stella, it's here maybe some magical illusion, you'll see, everyone is going to know who Farah Dowling and Saul silva really are" Farah caught up to hear Bloom's words, her name in her mouth was the same as if someone took all her magic away, she felt all her daughter's hate towards her, and when she felt Bloom start to collect her magic against the barrier Luna had put over Aster Dell she knew she wouldn't make it, she was too scattered, the spell was going to bounce off her.

"No Bloom" Running barely and she managed to get between her daughter and the ricochet of magic the barrier had expelled.

"Mom..." frightened and with her mother in her arms they had both fallen to the ground.

"Farah, please wake up" Saul arrived a few seconds later and knelt down so he could take Farah in his arms, while trying to find some sign of consciousness in his wife.

"What happened?" Luna arrived alone behind the specialist running and screaming after seeing the flash of light that had originated from the bounce of magic. "Farah?" she said frightened as she saw her best friend on the ground without opening her eyes.

"It must have been the bouncing spell, it was going straight to Bloom's direction but Farah got in the way, Luna, it's your magic can you do anything?" Saul looked on hopefully as Luna also knelt down to check on the mind fairy.

"I don't know Saul, Ben is the one who knows about these things" "She said as she took a hold of the blonde's wrist and with a small healing spell transferred some magic to her friend. "We should go back to the palace, there are people there who can attend her, this is only temporary" she said convinced that Farah should be checked by someone with more knowledge.

"Is she going to be okay?" said Bloom still in shock as her father lifted the unconscious fairy off the ground, she could hardly believe all this was happening even though she had caused it she reminded herself.

"Don't worry Bloom your mother is stronger than anyone" Saul replied with a slight smile and no resentment at what had happened. "Sky why don't you go with your sister and the princess in one of the vans, Luna Fara and I will take the other, I'll let Ben know to meet us at the palace" Ordered the specialist as they walked towards the vehicles. The road to Solaria's palace was not long and he could trust that his son would take good care of the two teenagers, although he himself was one.

"Farah has woken up, the potion we gave him replenished part of the strength he lost due to the rebound of the spell, if someone else had received that impact, perhaps he would not have had the same luck. He will only have a mark where he was hit," explained Ben who had insisted on being the one to attend to Farah, with the help of the palace doctor, of course.

"Then she will be fine?" Saul just wanted confirmation of the information, he was always too cautious.

"Don't worry Saul, you and I both know that Farah has overcome worse" With a smile Ben squeezed his friend's shoulder.

"Not for nothing she's still married to you after all these years, now that's strength" Luna interjected with a little joke to ease the tension they had lived all these hours.

"That's a good one Luna" Ben and fight high-fived as they teased their friend who in the end smiled back at them.

"Can we come in to see her?" Saul asked finally, he wanted to see his fairy, and verify for himself that she was okay, hug and kiss her.

"Farah asked about Bloom..." Ben said with some hesitation as he knew all the drama that had brought them just to that point, he didn't know if the young fairy would want to see her mother.

"I'll go get her, and I'll be back in a moment" Saul went out into the corridor where Sky, Stella and Bloom had stayed as Bloom hadn't wanted to come in, and his brother and friend had been left comforting the fire fairy.

"Guys, Farah just woke up" She announced to the three of them who immediately stood up from the bench they were sitting on.

"Is she okay?" the first to ask was the redhead who was overcome with guilt.

"She is and wants to see you Bloom, do you want to come in with me?" her father asked with a small smile.

"But Sky..."

"It's okay Bloom, I'll come over later, I think you have things to sort out, go" her brother interrupted her knowing they would still have things to talk about, for now it was enough for the blond to know that mother was okay.

"Why do you think he wants to see me?" asked Bloom as they walked towards the room where their mother was as she fiddled nervously with her hands.

"Why don't we find out" Saul draped his arm over his daughter's shoulder as he would open the door and with a small motion invite her into the room where the mind fairy was waiting for them.

"Bloom? Are you ok?" the blonde immediately asked when she saw her daughter enter the room.

"I think I'm the one who should be asking you how are you, you weren't reacting and I thought" Bloom walked over to the bed where her mother was lying almost without taking her eyes off the floor as her father encouraged her to come a little closer.

"Shh, don't think about it Bloom, I'm fine, it's over" Farah reached out her hand to take her daughter's who shyly took it while still having her gaze towards the floor as some tears fell at her feet.

"But it was all my fault, as usual" said the young girl feeling guilty for everything that had happened.

"Don't say that Bloom, it's also ours for hiding the truth from you, maybe we should have done it before or differently" Saul had both arms on his daughter's shoulders showing her that it hadn't been her fault, and that nothing had changed, or rather that even though things could change his affection would always be the same.

"I'm still processing all that, but now I just want to ask for your forgiveness" Bloom said for the first time looking up and holding her mother's hand tightly.

"We have nothing to forgive you Bloom, we understand why you reacted like that" said Farah tenderly "come here" When she was finally within reach Farah hugged her daughter with all her strength as if she hadn't hugged her for a lifetime, then after a few minutes of silence in which Farah and Saul exchanged looks of love and happiness that their daughter was well and with them, Bloom settled in Farah's arms and looking at them both started to speak.

"I told you horrible things and I don't know, I'm so confused, but I should have never doubted your word, it's true what Sky told me, you are the best people I know, I'm the one who doesn't deserve the family you have given me" The redhead closed her eyes as she felt ashamed just thinking about how she had acted towards them.

"Bloom there could be no bigger lie than that, you deserve only the best, and I know we have not been the perfect parents, we have made mistakes but I promise you that everything we have done has been for your own good" Farah deposited a soft kiss on her daughter's forehead and with her magic deposited in Bloom a little calm so that the young fairy would not continue to feel bad about what had happened.

"As we told you this morning Bloom when your mother and I found out that Rosalind intended to leave you in the first world, that's when we decided we had to do something, you couldn't grow up away from the world where you belong, with people like you, I know this wasn't ideal, that in a better world you would have grown up next to your biological parents but we did everything we could Bloom" Saul stroked his daughter's hair as he recited those words to her from the bottom of his heart.

"The first time we saw you Bloom we knew we had to protect you but we also wanted to give you a family, you and Sky were the happiness we found after so many years of pain in the war, you saved us in a way and for that we will always be grateful"

"Forgive me mom, dad, I love you" The three of them melted into an embrace that for now made amends for what had happened.

"And we love you our little flame" Saul said calling her by what had been her nickname since they knew the girl was a fire fairy pulling away from them a little to let them breathe.

"I know you have a lot of questions Bloom but I know between all of us we can get to them, just trust us, ok?" Farah stroked her cheek and gave her daughter a look of love and understanding.

"I promise mom" Bloom's teary eyes now seemed calmer and peace had returned to that look Farah loved so much.

"I love you my little girl" again Farah placed a soft kiss on the redhead's forehead, which made her fall into dreamland almost immediately.

"I told you my love, Bloom is our daughter no matter what" Saul reached up to place a kiss on both of their foreheads and then deposited a tender kiss on Farah's lips. "I love you Farah, you and our little family."
