The Sims

Summary:

Wednesday breaks too many laws and Enid doesn't want to have to break her out of prison so she finds an alternative outlet for her.

Notes:

Saw a wenclair headcannon about Wednesday getting really into the sims and this came out. Enjoy

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Enid knew her girlfriend. She loved her too. Flaws and all. However, some of those flaws usually cascaded into very very toxic behaviors. So after Wednesday had gotten arrested for aggravated assault again, her probation officer suggested that she find some other kind of outlet. Preferably one that didn’t involve other humans.

Enid didn’t want the love of her life to end up in prison for the rest of her life. Or on the run. She knew Wednesday could probably survive on the run, as many of the Addams did, but she wasn’t about to be stressing like that. So she brainstormed. What kind of outlet was realistic enough that it would help Wednesday release her stress and frustrations?

The wolf grinned and made a trip to Best Buy.

“Honeybear!” Enid called out into the apartment. “I’ve got a surprise for you,” she checked all of Wednesday’s usual hiding places. She was stumped until she smelled burning coming from the kitchen.

She rolled her eyes and made her way over. “Willa I was looking all over for you!” the wolf whined.

The girl was wearing a sweatshirt so large it was almost down to her knees. Wednesday eyed her girlfriend with an upward ticked brow. She stood there with a burned piece of toast lightly drizzled with honey hanging out of her mouth. One hand held a glass of water and the other held another burned piece of toast.

“I figured you’d find me eventually,” she muttered. “What’s that?” she gestured to the bags Enid was holding with her toast hand.

Enid laughed and took the toast out of her mouth. “You are actually the absolute cutest creature in the whole universe,” She put the bags down and lifted Wednesday onto the counter, admiring her.

“Careful,” the smaller woman groaned as her water almost spilled. “I am not cute and I could kill you.”

“Mhmm, I know. I know. Poison me a handful of ways. Death by a thousand cuts?” Enid teased and Wednesday grumbled as Enid slowly savored the feeling of the soft skin of her thighs. “I got you something that should hopefully keep you out of trouble.”

“No thank you.”

“Babe, four charges in a month,”

“A new record.”

“The lawyers can only convince so many judges…”

“The justice system is a farce anyways,”

“You could go to prison.”

“No prison could hold me for long,”

“You wouldn’t be able to kiss me though,” Enid feigned hurt.

Wednesday put her fingers to her chin in thought and hummed. “That would be a considerably unfavorable outcome. What did you have in mind?”

Enid quickly pecked her girlfriend’s lips and went to the bags. A well rounded laptop and small card came out of the bags.

Wednesday’s eye twitched at the annoyingly loud crackling of the large bags. She fiddled with her hands in her lap, trying to be patient and listen to her wolf’s suggestion. Senses be damned. She usually would have snapped by now, the sounds too offensive and sudden. She thought about her therapist and rolled her eyes. Perhaps she did know a thing or two about the human condition.

Enid put the boxes on the counter across from where she sat Wednesday.

“Okay, so I know that sometimes you get pent up…” Wednesday’s eyes went wide. “Aggression wise,” the wolf rolled her eyes.

Wednesday adjusted herself on the counter.

“I got you a laptop,”

“I don’t need a laptop,” Wednesday crossed her arms, defenses rising.

“Willa,” Enid dragged out the last syllable until the other woman met her eyes. “Let me finish? Pretty please?”

Wednesday bit the inside of her cheek. She didn’t like this.

“There’s a game that I think would be good for you to work out your aggro stuff,” Enid pulled out the card. “So the Sims is a classic computer game. It has lots and lots that you can do but it’s basically a life simulator. You can have a job and a family and stuff!”

Wednesday glared.

Enid continued. “You can also torture and kill people, study dark arts and witchcraft and necromancy and all your weird stuff. When I was a kid, I used to put someone I didn’t like in the pool and then remove the ladder out and they would drown after a while,” Enid chuckled to herself. Maybe she shouldn’t say things like that.

Wednesday had some semblance of a smirk on her face.

“I shall give this,” she gestured to the boxes. “a try.” She sighed. Kinbott would be so proud.

Enid didn’t expect Wednesday to be taken with the game so quickly. The girl barely knew how to operate a computer let alone a game. But she insisted that she be left to her own devices. Enid knew well enough that Wednesday didn’t particularly enjoy being around others when she was trying to figure something out.

Enid poked her head in the girls room an hour or so later to the girl hunched over the laptop, hoodie up, murmuring to herself.

“How’s it going baby?” Enid chirped and got no response.

She shuffled closer to the woman on the laptop and looked at the screen. There was a house on fire and an entire family trapped inside the house that seemed to have no doors. She was playing in live mode, no fast forwarding, just watching the family die. Upon closer examination it was the Gates family… And Tyler Galpin. All in a small house, burning alive.

“Willa?” Enid whispered.

Someone would have thought that Wednesday’s chair caught on fire. The woman jumped up so high and so quickly that if Enid wasn’t a werewolf, she definitely would have collided with the top of her head.

“How’s it goin’?” Enid tried to contain her laughter at the woman before her who slammed the laptop shut with a concerning amount of force.

“When did you get in here?” Her eyes were wide and wild like a child caught doing something they shouldn't have been.

Enid watched Wednesday carefully. She knew this situation all too well.

Wednesday probably loved the game and will want to play all the time but has her pride for god knows what at this point. She was embarrased. Being so consumed by the game that she didn’t hear the door open, the wolf call out to her, or walk up behind her, made snapping out of the consumption all the more frustrating. Hence the slam of the laptop.

The werewolf knew to navigate this with no smugness, just gentle love.

Wednesday’s mind was racing. She was so consumed by her own thoughts, her past, and the stupid computer that she didn’t hear Enid coming. It was terrifying. Not only had she been caught. Who knows how much the blonde saw? Would she judge her? No Enid probably wouldn’t do that. She didn’t judge Wednesday. Enid was a safe place. But her mind raced regardless. She jumped like a frightened kitten. Which if she were honest, is exactly how she felt. Her heart was racing. Curse this damn computer.

She released a breath she didn’t even notice she was holding as Enid gently wrapped an arm around her waist. “I’ve got you. It’s just me. We’re okay Willa,” Enid gently pulled her in and spoke into the raven’s hair.

Enid felt small hands grip her sweater, their long standing tell that Wednesday had come back down. She took several deep breaths before slowly pulling away, signature stoic glare in place.

“Hi,” Enid whispered.

“This gift is…” Wednesday looked around the room. “More than adequate. Thank you,” She then extended her own arms, a rare offering for the wolf who took it gratefully.

“I’m glad you like it,” Enid grinned. “I’m really batting 100 these days with gifts!” she said and scooped up her girlfriend.

Wednesday blushed, secretly relishing in the strong arms of her wolf. She wondered if her sims kept burning when she shut the computer. She hoped so. They deserved eternal damnation for all she cared. She grinned. “Portami a letto amore mio,” She would allow Enid the win this time.
