[CURRENTLY ON PAUSE]
"oh macaque what are we gonna do! We can't wait that long what if a demon eats him! What if something happens?! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO!"

The macaque pushed MK off of him and sighed "we wait. 14 months should pass by in a flash. Meanwhile we make sure that baldy doesn't get into trouble." he huffed

Tang awakes to find himself in 7th century China (tang dynasty) and it seems him and the great monk Tripitaka have some how switched places

stuck in the past tang will have to go through with the pilgrimage until his friends save him.

Notes:

Ok so! I basically made this AU as an excuse to write tang in situations from JTTW because God I love that book but anyways I'm basically gonna write about the MAJOR demon encounters they have along with some little convo I think they'd have and ect, also Tripitaka is stuck in the present so that's fun! (Some moments dont make sense and are chaotic but who cares pft)

CW (nothing bad but just warnings) : meantion of nudity

Chapter Text

The morning light beamed on Tangs face causing him some discomfort as he didn't feel like walking up Not a problem he can ask pigsy to close the blinds but he was too tired to speak so he just dealt with it

He felt winds rustling against his body causing a slight shiver Was he outside?

Strike 1

He felt a warmer body next to him but it wasn't pigsy it looked like a horse? He couldn't tell his glasses were not on.

Strike 2

He could hear the commotion of people all around and could hear Mk's mentor talking to the civilians making such a row, wait. Monkey king?

Tang opened his eyes and found a blanket was wrapped around him as well as his normal sleep wear was missing! HE WAS STARK NAKED.

Strike 3 MAJOR RED FLAG!

he pressed the blanket close not wanting to expose himself, quickly The man poked a arm out through the blanket and felt around for his golden rimmed glasses placing his hands around the area

"Ah there they are" he placed them on his head looking at his surroundings And what surroundings he saw. He was around burning ruble and could see monks filled with fear and tear infested eyes as they sobbed

"Oh master your awake! Your probably wondering what happened!" a younger sounding sun wukong exclaimed running over to Tang "the old patriarch of the Temple tried to steal your valuable cassock and burned the monastery down! But not to worry! I borrowed a Anti-Fire cover that kept you and Ao lie safe from the flames!" the monkey explained

Tang blinked slowly the man was still tired after all

"Uh where am I?" tang asked clearly confused

"Master how could you forget where you are! We're at the Chan monastery of Guanyin but once I get the cassock back from the demon we can continue our journey westward!" younger sun wukong was very... different then what tang was used too but he started to quickly connect the dots

There was no way, he couldn't be back in time could he?? How could he have?? Theres no way!

"Monkey king what emperor is in charge of China right now?" he asked quickly jumping up still keeping the blanket around him to not expose himself.

"Master you do not have to call me by my title! I'm your eldest disciple Sun wukong!" he corrected "and master you should already know this but maybe all that heat from the fire went to your head, the Tang emperor is in charge of China of course!"

He blinked, and his jaw dropped

"I'M IN THE 7TH CENTURY?!" the scholar yelled starting to panic still confused

"Master calm yourself! You seem to be in a bit of a dilarium so these monks are going to tend to you while I got kick demon ass!" wukong was very different from his present counter part. Before tang could say anything else the monkey zipped away using his cloud towards a certain mountain.

The scholar who had studied and memorized most of the famous stories of journey to the west realized what was happening and where they were but still it made no sense at all, how the brick did he get here?

The white horse dragon Ao lie let out a huff as he transformed into his presentable human form. The young man had starch white hair with green streaks, blessed with dragon features such as a tail, horns and Green eyes, and he wore a zhaoshan hanfu that looked like this:

He wore a white paofu robe that reached all the way down to the floor with golden cross collar, a dark green sash was worn on his waist, and lastly a lighter green zhaoshan thin robe that topped over the whole outfit. His sleeves we're loose long and slack and their we're embroidered patterns on the layered garment.

"Master I see you are uncomfortable without your cassock for now you can wear my coat as to keep yourself covered" the dragon spoke giving tang a comforting smile. Tang would wear literally anything than be naked so he took the offer, as the dragon gave the upper garment to him he quickly put it on himself ignoring how it might have been a little too big for him.

The garment touching his skin felt completely smooth to the touch, with a soft and almost waxy feeling not only that but it was loose around him enough to where it didn't feel tight or suffocating like some clothes did. "thank you" He gave the man a smile but still he felt overwhelmed

He was away from home in a completely different time period to say the least, how was he going to get home??

'Out of everybody it just had to be me useless tang!' he thought belittling himself whenever he got the chance too because compared to his friends and family he felt weak.

Sure he was tapping into his powers but he felt like no matter how hard he tried he'd never be able to be as strong as them, like he'd forever stay a coward with weak ankles as master subhuti stated.

The man sighed muttered words along "I want to go home.." he had done enough adventuring for the year as what had happened with the spider queen and DBK, lady bone demon AND azure Lion plus the scroll it was all just too much to handle! And now he was stuck on his own adventure all alone.

He felt like he was done for.

————————————————————————

8:30AM

Pigsy started the day as usual waking up early and making breakfast for tang and MK before he opened up shop, usually about now tang would have been awake but he seemed to be sleeping in

Fine by pigsy as long as the guy got some rest, he was studying the mystic arts again trying to learn more the best he could so the pig assumed tang had stayed up for a while despite him calling the scholar to bed, it wasn't any use though tang was the type to need to cram everything in before a test.

"MK! Get up kiddo! Breakfast!" he called out upstairs

He heard footsteps making their way down the stairs and into the main area of the shop

"Zhu bajie?" a voice called out very confused

Pigsy turned around and saw somebody who looked like tang but knew that definitely wasn't tang

He was bald for one, he wore tangs normal attire but ditched the scarf and looked genuinely confused at all the gadgets and gizmos around the apartment.

"Zhu bajie I didn't know you could cook" the man spoke

Pigsy rubbed his eyes

'Maybe I'm just tired'

Nope opening his and second time and something was definitely up

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY TANGY?!" he squealed marching up and demanding answers from the man

"HUH?? dear disciple it's me your master Tang sanzang!" the bald man repeated trying to convince pigsy they knew each other, sure the guy looked a little bit like tang but the two were still majorly different there was no way this was him! Plus he was saying his name was tang sanzang like tangs unconfirmed past life guy!

"This has mystic magic business all over it." the pig grumbled "wait, stay put, and don't move." he ordered as he paced quickly up the stairs into Mk's room

"Kid kid wake up"

"5 more minutes dadsy..." the younger mumbled still sleepy but this wouldnt due if anything he needed the kidnto be awake since him and tang knew more about the journey to the west than the pig himself! He gently shook MK a couple more times until he opened his heavy eyes and yanwed

"Kid there's a guy named sanzang in the shop and he looks like tang but I know he ISN'T tang, you know more about the ancient book stories and stuff help me out here!"

It was just too early for another wacky adventure but Mk could hear how distressed pigsy was so decided to help, he stayed in his sleepwear and yanwed as he made his way down the stairs

"Oh!" the monk exclaimed seeing the boy, reason why he was surprised is because sanzang didn't know there we're other monkeys like his eldest disciple wukong.

MK blinked

Pigsy arrived downstairs after MK and creased his brows "see! I dunno if he's cookoo or if this is another mystic magic thing."

MK now beginning to wake up looked at the man closely, he then got excited as he realized this really was THE great monk Tang sanzang! He began to stomp his feet, sway his tail and flap his hands as if he was about to explode!

"Why is this young man doing a dance?" the monk asked a little confused on to what MK is doing

"He's stimming obviously, he's excited" pigsy huffed

"ARE YOU REALLY TANG SANZANG OMG YOU LOOK SO MUCH COOLER IN PERSON" MK beamed before rambling asking a butt load of questions "HOWD YOU GET HERE? WHY ARE YOU WEARING TANGS CLOTHES? WHERE IS TANG?"

The monk felt slightly overwhelmed with all these questions and slowly pushed MK back a little bit, he wasn't used to this kinda behaviour

"Well, yes I am, I just woke up with these clothes sleeping slumped over on a small table strangely, and I have no idea who your talking about-" he answered with a sheepish grin rubbing the back of his neck.

"We gotta tell monkey king!" mk shouted as a shock of realization stuck him "if your here that might mean tang is in your time! He wouldn't last a week!"

Pigsys eyes widened and he felt anxieties eating away at him at the thought that tang magically disappeared, he was frightened, he wanted tang to be home to be safe!

Mk slinged an arm around pigsy trying to reassure him in some way, "dont worry pigsy! Me and trip will go to monkey king! Surely well swap them back to normal!" his enthusiasm was a good way to put the pigs mind at rest but in all fairness the pig just blamed the optimism on the kid being excited about the monk showing up.

"We'll be back pigsy! Promise!"

MK grabbed the monk by his wrist and gently pulled him out if the shop

Outside the monk saw bright colorful building that looks like they could reach the Heavens itself as well as terrifying loud machinery that moved on a strange road

"Oohh your probably used to like- horses and stuff" MK snickered at sanzangs face

He was terrified as he was amazed on how much people accomplished

"I think I can carry you on my cloud" MK guessed summoning a cloud to sit on, although sanzang wasn't convinced that was safe to travel on.

"I never asked young man, what is your name?"

MK rocked back and forth when answering, "well my name is Qi Xiaotian but I'd rather be called MK for simplicity" he smiled and reached his hand out for sanzang to take so he could pull him up onto the cloud

"This doesn't feel safe-"

"PSH- priorities" MK rolled his eyes playfully parroting his mentor

Pulling the monk up he soon realized he'd basically have to carry the monk on his cloud since he couldn't exactly cloud hop like wukong could, but it wasn't a problem the monk was surprisingly light. The boy didn't zip too quickly on his cloud but went fast enough to arrive on flower fruit mountain before 9:00.

Upon arriving Sanzang looked around the mountains landscapes taking it all in, he had heard from his deciple himself about how the mountain of flower and fruits was a safe haven and an absolute paradise where you could just relax and be yourself, Sanzang looked as if he was starry eyed when seeing it all he had always dreamed of seeing his eldest deciples safe haven mainly because of how the king boasted about it on the journey.

Mk stopped in front of a waterfall hoping off the cloud with sanzang, as they stood in front of it little monkeys peeked out from the trees and recognized Mk they all chriped greetings at him and playfully they climbed on his body like a jungle gym, At this point the boy was used to it, he enjoyed their company anyways.

He and the monk walked closer to the waterfall slowly inching towards, mk reached his hand out to touch it causing a giant Ceil to glow opening up the water like a curtain exposing a cave.

"Follow me, baldy" MK joked

Ignoring the nickname sanzang did as told following quietly looking at his surroundings taking everything in, inside the cave was an iron bridge that lead to a giant cavern, inside this cavern stood a small cottage with a peach tree besides it, gazing upon it the monk knew that must be where wukong lived.

"MACAQUE! MONKEY KING!" he called out "we have a situation!"

'Macaque?' sanzang tried to remember who that was, the same sounded familiar but... He just couldn't figure it out until minutes later the two apes stepped out

A sleepy wukong stepped up scratching his back, fur a bit messy from just waking up.

"Bud training doesn't start till.. Later" The simian yanwed

Another monkey stepped out which was the one called macaque

It was him.

The false monkey king.

Tripitaka stepped back a little feeling nervous about seeing the dark furred simian.

Macaque looked like he had already been awake since he quickly noticed sanzang and looked a little awkward as he tried shaking wukong to wake him out of his dazed state. The monkey rubbed his eyes and stared at the monk and as he recognized his master he began to really wake up now, The monkeys eyes widened and his chest tightened leaving him almost speechless as he held his breath and mumbles

"No." he spoke "your not real."

"Sun pilgrim the novice" sanzang spoke "I assure you I'm as real as the Buddha himself"

Macaque quickly slinked next to MK pulling him aside; the quick movements of the macaque freightend sanzang as he remembers when the dark ape almost killed him with a hit on the head knocking him unconscious.

"Kid what the hell is going on." he gave MK a quizzed looked

"Ok so- we think tang was studying magic last night trying to tap into it you know? And he might have accidentally switched places with monkey kings master since they're connected or something"

Macaque blinked and rubbed his temples taking in this information was alot.

"Peaches seems we got a time travel fiasco which I didn't even know was possible" macaque grumbled, he really didn't think this was how their morning would turn out.

"What?!"

Wukong was overwhelmed with so many thoughts and emotions in this very moment he just didn't know how to hold it all in, MK had told him to stim when he needed too because it was healthy but his master was present

He needed to sit still.

But one stern look from MK and the monk was letting it all out, he started pacing back and forth and slightly tugging on his hair tail lashing behind him as he ranted, "Your supposed to be dead! reincarnated no correction you DID reincarnate that's who TANG IS yet your here now so tang is in the past and- GAH!" It was clear the wukong was a little stressed, he wasn't upset about seeing his master but was upset about the circumstances that came with it.

"Calm down peaches, we'll figure this out- or something" macaque chimed in, he wasn't very reassuring but it was good enough. The king took a deep breath and looked back at the guests in his cave

"Alright, come inside and we can talk more about this get some more details"

Macaque and MK waltzed right inside the hut familiar with the structure already but sanzang he was familiar at all he was slow paced still taking everything in although he was still scared if macaque, not only that but he thought the simian was dead when wukong... Yet they act friendly now

"Seriously peach chips? It's 8:45 in the morning"

"I'm immortal i eat what I want"

Sorta friendly

The king snacked on his chips taking bites of the crisp looking things, sanzang had never seen such a food before it honestly just looked like dried up peaches which seemed on brand for the golden furred monkey given he loves peaches.

"Sun, id like to say you weren't joking when you said this place was a paradise it's no wonder you felt slight homesickness going west" the monk complimented

Face full of chips the monkey avoided eye contact with the monk, "er yea" the king led them to the living room to chat although he didn't have a lot of seats he let the monk and MK sit down on the couch while he stayed standing just snacking on the chips, as for macaque? The ape just sat on the net like hammock by the wall.

"Monkey I do have a few questions" sanzang let out; The ginger moved slightly curiously knawing at him

"This young man. Xiaotian is your successor? Am I to believe he's as powerful as you?" the monk meant no harm in this question but knowing sanzang, wukong knew that his teacher wanted to know if he should fear MK or not

"Don't worry master, the kid has better morals than I did all those Years ago" he replied "to give it to you straight hes almost as powerful as me, and has saved the city from many terrible demons and lowly crooks" the king found himself bragging about his successor like a proud parent overly telling him how amazing his successor was and how he couldn't have made Better choice.

Macaque kept staring at sanzang, he was a little disturbed by his presence, no not disturbed. He didn't want him around. That was it. He hated him. In macaques eyes the monk was somebody not to be trusted, he was the one that leashed wukong, he was the one tha recited the spell no matter how much Sun had begged for him to stop, he was the one that was moronic enough to believe a salty gluttonous pig demon than wukong who had protected him from harm throughout the journey. His tail twitched furiously as he let out a snarl, his pupils turning to slits stabbing into sanzang as he listened in on the conversation they we're having.

"Now, this Tang? Is my reincarnation. If he used a spell while trying to study we are to assume he is still learning?"

MK nodded, "tang just now is learning to tap into his powers, I bet if we check his computer we can find the last website he was on to see what spell he used!"

the plastuc bag in hand wukong shook the bag trying to pry crumbs from inside before he felt all eyes on him.

"To be fair you two woke be up before breakfast-"

"Ooo! Maybe you can get piggy"

"Not a fan of cooked food bud" he chuckled nervously throwing the bag behind him which instantly got stolen by baby monkeys who dragged the bag away trying to play with it, even while being immortal wukong was still bound to his simian biology meaning he couldn't exactly stomach cooked food very well, which is why being vegetarian as a Buddhist never bothered him because he simply didn't mind.

Sanzang had one last question

"May I have a better tour of your home? I know I had taken In some sights while walking but I'd never gotten the chance to really get a tour" he smiles, the tang monk had a kind smile, he was a true sweetheart which could sometimes be a flaw, nonetheless it was the same comforting smile that wukong had learned to recognize.

"Alright alright" the king accepts the offer, Macaque pins his ears down and Scoffs looking down at wukong from his chosen perch, "your just gonna show him around just like that?" Suddenly everybody can feel the tension in the air.

Wukong glares at his..companion, he doesn't blame macaque for acting the way he is at the moment but it presses on a certain memory in his head.

"Oh cmon macaque, it'll be fine he's not exactly dangerous" wukong laughed before adding "you know how many times this guy got kidnapped and cried like a baby?" he teased. A flush creeped to sanzangs face who was now embarrassed and furrowed his brows at the golden ape.

"wukong!"

Macaque angry face only scrunched up more, he really didn't like the guy

"Well, its spring" macaque huffs "lots of baby monkeys and you have OH SO MANY KINGLY DUTIES" he says dramatically dangling his upper half off the hammock keeping himself from falling using his tail and legs.

MK can see the tension between the monk and macaque, it's almost like a when a magnet compels from another giving off a weird energy between. A light bulb flickered in the boys head

"Ok you give monk guy a tour while me and macaque go to check tangs laptop!" MK jumps up feeling confident "between me and macaque, macaroni is better at recognizing spells"

Macaques tail flicked, he promptly falls off the hammock. Rubbing his head he scowls.

"dont call me that." the grumpy macaque gets up before he's being dragged

"Alright! Cya later baldy!" he called out dragging macaque outside to go back to the city.

The monk and wukong we're now alone.

Wukong got up from his seat and stretching causing his back to make a popping sound; Tripitaka cringed

"age getting to you wukong?"

"Hardy har har. I'm only... Over 7,000 year's old" the ape mused almost for getting his age before walking towards his bedroom the monk began to get a little jittery at his eldest deciples absence not knowing if he should have followed or not

"Wukong where-"

"Dont worry, I'm just getting myself properly ready given you and The kid woke me up pretty early" The ape shouted back reassuring him, wukong was in his bedroom changing into his normal wear.

The Monkey King wore a yellow tunic with a gold chestplate over it, a gold coattail with red and turquoise trim, maroon pants, a red sash belt, and black boots with gold soles. He also put on a red two-piece cape and a small gold head dress with two long red phoenix feathers; Truly he looked like the king he was. Stepping out of the room sanzang could understand why he called himself the handsome monkey king in the past his deciple looked sharp it was no wonder he had a big back then.

"Alright let's get going" he yawned making his way towards the front door with the monk

"Your not going to eat something deciple?"

"Not hungry, now cmon I always wanted to show you around this place"

The two stepped outside of the hut it was still early so the air was still crisp and cool, wukong happily showed his master around the mountain taking him to the most important places mainly around the water curtain cave. Sanzang noticed steps along the mountain with logs along it tied with rope to create a fence railing along the steps as it went higher into to mountain curving alongside it, it looked like it hadn't been walked on in a while as overgrowth grew along the railings; as curiousity bit him he asked, "Deciple where does that path lead too?"

Wukong raised a brow before gazing at the steps his master was pointing at. The simian flicked his hand and brushed it off "That just leads to my birthplace nothing more."

"I would like to see it"

Monkey king grimaced, placing his hands on his waist and biting his lip,"you sure? I mean nobody's been u there in a while." the monk nodded in agreement, he couldn't lie if he said he wasn't excited about seeing where his strongest deciple was born he had heard the tale of how he came out of a stone but had wanted to see it for himself, to see where his beloved deciple was born, where his humble beginnings started.

They walked up and up each step getting closer to the top, the monk felt himself tire with each step but he wasn't one to complain now that job went to tang who could always find himself whining when it came to putting the smallest effort into things, but he was learning to better himself

just a little

The two reached the top of the mountain and there they saw, the ridge of the mountain had a cliff carved into it, a stone state like platform with a boulder placed right smack in the middle with a peach tree behind it, wooden chimes swayed in the wind at the entrance of this enchanted place.

Sanzang was in awe, despite the simplicity it looked peaceful and felt like a magical place, wukong walked right up to the boulder where his stone egg once layed he propped himself on it and sat cross cross folding his legs together,

"Yeah this is where i popped out hah" he shrugged continuously swaying his tail; he was a little restless, the king didn't like coming back to the place he was born mainly because it reminded him of how many mistakes he made as a youngster how he wishes he could have been better, He sighed and rolled off the stone landing back on his two feet

"We should go, I don't like staying here for too long. Besides Mac was right I really do have kingly duties to attend too" he droned walking back towards the entrance and away from the center, the same magic was still there looming over the place it wasn't as strong as it was before wukongs birth but it still looked over; it was truly a blessing for sanzang to feel and see it for himself. The monk gave monkey a quizzical look

"You actually have responsibilities? I thought monkey king was just some kind of title?" the monkey laughed and began to trek downwards

Down and down the mountain they went master and deciple, monkey king walked with his master to a specific part of the forest where monkeys roosted on trees holding their newly born young, some still so small and frail while others we're slightly older playing and causing mischief on the ground.

The young ones noticed their king and chittered excitedly to see the one and only monkey king, yéye sun as they called him. They rushed over and tackled the king down wanting to tumble and play

"Ah! Little ones please" he laughed while little monkeys poked and prawned

Sanzang smiled at the sight these guys really we're like family to wukong, the tiny apes spotted the monk and cautiously approached looking at wukong for his approval; old Sun nodded, smiling. The monkeys then jumped on sanzang curiously looking at him, one little monkey decided to be funny and slapped him on his bald head causing the rest to run away in a fit of playful laughed.

"Now now you must be nice to guests" wukong scolded lightly, "play nice now!" he shouted as he climbed up to the trees with the mothers

Sanzang wondered what business could wukong conduct up there, he had experience with many kings and emperors when traveling to the west and not a single one really cared much for watching their subjects and their children, wukong was just different in that way he treated his subjects like equals never ever putting them below him. Instead of human speech the king was making squeaks, chitters and chirps discussing things among the mothers

Sanzang often forget that he really was a monkey

.
.
.

"Ugh! Tang really needs to clean up his desktop. HOW THE BRICK AM I MEANT TO FIND ANYTHING!" Mo shouted in frustration scrunching up his face in his hands groaning, macaque would offer to help but he's been dead for centuries and had just gotta revived a year earlier he still had a LOT to catch up on when it came to mortal technologies and as far as he was concerned these things were confusing and worked like magic! He placed a hand on the boys shoulder

"Cmon kid, you can find it besides you totally have a power that can help." mk blinked before remembering he has gold vision he sputtered as he apologized for for getting he even has that power to begin with. He closed his eyes and focused opening them once more, with glowing golden eyes he looked around on the laptop once more. On the browser many tabs we're open all having to do with stuff the scholar was interested in, his blog golden cicadas yumyum was up as well as many articles about artifacts and magic.

Eventually MK found the window that he needed, it was open and he skimmed the text trying to get the most important information he needed. It seemed tang found a spell that trapped him into the past until its reversed by a similar spell.

"HE'S STUCK UNTIL WE FIND A SPELL TO SAVE HIM?!" Mk bursts out absolutely livid

"Read more details we need all the info we can get." macaque grumbled pushing the kid closer to the computer

MK read more and more trying to comprehend it, "Ok this is fine! We can find the spell and make the monk guy cast it!" MK tried to pass as confidence but it wasn't working at all, he began to grab macaque and hold on for deal life as he began ranting, "oh macaque what are we gonna do!

This didn't help MK feel better at all he was still worried about tang but what could honestly be done? This spell stated that they user had to finish the business of their past self in order to get back, "We can look for a spell to save him though right?" he asked desperately trying not to let himself falter

"Hmmm, maybe" macaque mumbled "we need to do more research, continue using the magic box MK."

"It's a laptop, but ok"

MK and macaque skin through the article more looking for a way to reverse the spell but to no avail they can't find anything, they'd have to look more.

.
.
.

Hours had past and the MK hit his head on the table, letting out incoherent mumbles

"You two find anything?" the pig asks leaning on the counter

"No! Nothing! Ugh! This is gonna be the end of me! We gotta get tang back now! Who knows what could happen! "

Pigsy's eyes widened a bit at the fact nothing was found when an idea hit him

"remember that sleep incident, where did you find the thing?"

Macaques eye flicked and his interest we peaked

"Oh you know I went to the cloud- WE SHOULD GO THERE! technically Im still on the ledger" he shrugged feeling himself gain his confidence back, maybe there was still hope.

"We better get going then." macaque added getting up from his seat closing the laptop "cmon."

"Cya dadsy!"

"Hurry up and find something to get that lazy freeloader back would ya!" pigsy grumbled before feeling a frown form on his face, he was worried.

————————————————————————

Hours had past and it was beginning to get dark, Tang sat waiting with Ao lie while the monks took care of both of them, when wukong was in his sights tang felt immediately safer

Ah, you're back!" he said clearly releaved. "What happened?"

"I've found the answer." the monkey stated jumping off his cloud next to tang "i misjudged these monks. It was in fact stolen by a fiend from the Black Wind Mountain. I went to have a quiet look for him and found him sitting in front of grassy slope talking to a white−gowned scholar and an old Taoist." he began explaining rambling on about what he witnessed

"he said with his own mouth that he was inviting all the evil spirits to come and celebrate his birthday tomorrow, so he was going to give a great feast that he called an 'Assembly for the Celebration and Admiration of the Buddha's Robe'. I rushed him and took a swipe at him with my staff, but the dark fellow turned into a puff of wind and fled!"

"What a self centered and terrible demon." Ao lie huffed

"Yes terrible indeed! I was only able to kill the white−clad scholar. When I went to the mouth of his cave as fast as I could and told him to come out and fight me. He admitted that he had carried it off. We fought for half a day without either of us winning, and then the monster went back to his cave for lunch and shut the stone gates behind him. He was too scared to come out again, so I came back to give you this news, master. Now we know where the cassock is, there's no need to worry that he won't give it back."

Tang blinked taking all the information in before he spoke, he rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably, he really was in the past which meant he was in a lot of trouble who knows what could happen if he wasn't saved or figure out how to get out of here.

"Now I hope these monks have been treating you we'll or I'll have to beat them until they turn into jelly." wukong warned shooting a glare at the group of monks who we're terrified of the king.

"We haven't been remiss in any way while looking after his Reverence!" the group of monks claimed

"No dont hurt them m- wukong! While you were away they've Given me tea and food, and they haven't been rude to me at all!" Tang explained doing his best to calm the monkey

While reading the journey to the wedt himself and doing research on it, it was said that the monkey king had a horrible short temper and lashed on on anybody who angered him in the beginning of the journey, seeing that for himself was a little bit nerve wracking for tang. The scholar anxiously started fiddling with the gold ring that was on his right hands ring finger.

He knew the journey was going to be long and hard, he just hoped his friends would save him sooner then later.

"Now! I know where the cassock is, and I guarantee that I'll capture the wretch and return it to you. There's no need to worry master!" giving tang a grin tang felt just a little comforted, if anybody could prevent hard from coming to him it was the great sage equal to heaven! But still he knew what lied ahead of him. Kidnappings of all kings, demons trying to seduce and or eat him.

Tang tried to make the best of it though as he told himself that while he's on the journey hell be able to experience things in person mainly revolving the pilgrims and how they acted and such! How could he not want to know more about his special interest?

As wukong was talking a senior abbot came in, set out the vegetarian meal and invited the golden furred simian, tang, and Ao lie to eat with the rest of the monks.

Tang had to admit the meal It was nice, it wasn't as great as pigsys noodles but it would do, one thing he missed was eating delectable meats but he knew he couldn't in this time period since everybody thought he was a monk if he ate meet in front of them it would be like committing a murder in front of the authorities

Not a good look

"Make the best of it" he hummed to himself silently

Wukong grimaced at the food in front of him and asked something to the senior monk

"Do you have any fruit?"

The abbot terrified of angering the ape nodded and immediately staggered to go fetch some delectable fruits for the simian.

"Wukong why dont you want to eat what's given to you?" tang asked curiously

"Oh master, cooked food doesn't.. Sit right with me, not good for me" Monkey explained sheepishly, it made alot of sense now that Tang thought about it. He may be immoral but he's still a monkey.

Speak of the devil a monk handed a plate to wukong filled with Java apples, mangoes, and Persimmon explaining "apologies if these aren't to your liking" trying to avoid sun wukongs harsh wrath

It wasn't peaches but fruit was still fruit and the monkey began chowing down happily consuming the juicy meal, When he finished the monkey wiped his mouth using his sleeve

It was nice witnessing the things that weren't written down in the texts, watching how the king engaged in conversations with his master and brothers well in this case- Ao lie as for now but seeing it gave the scholar more details to how the king acted in the journey!

He was overly confident, dramatic, stubborn, had a bad temper, but we a pretty good person despite his flaws. The king got up from his seat and stretched

"Your leaving now?" Ao lie asked a bit concerned

"dragon boy, You know very well I need to continue my hunt with the wretched demon! when i come back I will have the cassock and then we can continue" the king promised summoning his somersault cloud and perching on top of it "I'm off!" he declared before blasting towards the same mountain the demon lived on.

"He's so confident and cool" Ao lie breathed out before adding "but he's so impulsive!"

Tang reluctantly nodded, having witnessed the young monkey king he didn't seem THAT different from his older counterpart; He'd tease the monkey king about it later when he got home, if he's even able too.

He sure hopes so
