Two men walked along the sidewalk of a semi-busy street, carrying on with light chatter as the early morning sun that rose from behind them reflected off of the beautiful crystal lining the walkway.
“I understand the want to be supportive, but these four places and people seem so… random. I would get it if they were all connected to one event, but no, Her Majesty insists that we find these specific people to give these large sums of money.” The man complained to his companion, looking at an envelope in his possession with names and money sums listed next to them
“It isn’t too bad. At least we don’t have to leave the planet to find these four people. That’s all I could have asked for with any job assigned to me.” The other man spoke up, following along to give his friend company on a long day.
“Genki, I’d love to leave the planet in a delegation with the Queen. Earth is nice, don’t get me wrong, but I just want to see more than what we are used to here. It’s pretty here, and the planet is as healthy as ever, but an alien planet??” The last remark had Genki giving him a hard punch to the arm.
“Daisuke, you can’t call the other planets… that! You would, undoubtedly, be fired!”
“Alright, alright, I won’t say that. I don’t know what else I should call them.”
“Allies? Their actual designated titles? Literally, anything that doesn’t imply that they’re strange in any way?” Genki was flabbergasted by Daisuke’s casual nature about a job-threatening phrase.
Daisuke shrugged, looking back at the envelope, focusing once more on the job they were set out to accomplish for the day.
“That aside, our first location is… Hikawa Shrine. That old shrine?” Daisuke inquired his friend.
“Oh, that place? I haven’t been there since… well, since before Crystal Tokyo was even established. I hear the Head Priest has fallen ill as of late. Most likely old age, even with the blessing bestowed by our Queen.”
“Must be why Her Majesty is offering such a large sum. But passings happen all the time. Why is just this one shrine getting such kindness from her?”
“Well, there is a lot we don’t know about the Queen. Maybe she was close to the Head Priest before she rose to power after helping heal Earth from… the tragedies.” A sore topic for most. “Probably applies to the other places and people too.”
Genki took the envelope from his friend and read the names and locations.
“Rei Hino, Hikawa Shrine. Ami Mizuno, Azabu General Hosptial. Makoto Kino, Florally Sweet. Minako Aino–”
“Aino?!?!? The pop-star?! The Queen KNOWS HER?!” Daisuke was a devoted fan. Genki… had no clue what he was on about. “She should have invited her to the palace for events! That would have made for better turn-outs.”
“Perhaps, but we need to hurry. Thanks to my lovely partner, I know where the floral shop is located, and it is near that hospital. We’ll need more time in the day to track down Ms. Aino. I hear people like her tend to have chaotic schedules.”
“Oh! I’ll sort it out! I know exactly how we’ll find her!” Daisuke excitedly grabbed his personal device from his pocket. “She’s very active online with her fan base. If she hears it is a special request from the Queen of Earth, and that we want to meet her to give her something, she will meet us in no time flat!” Genki could die from embarrassment with how much of a fanboy his friend is.
“You go ahead and get that sorted out…” He peeked to see Daisuke already sending the pop idol a message in her direct messages. “While I trek these steps to the shrine.”
“Hey, wait for me! I’m curious to see this shrine that’s so special to the Queen!” Daisuke ran to catch up with Genki, well on his way up the stairs.
They arrived at their first location of the day, Hikawa Shrine, and curiously made their way up the stairs. They were ready to see how events would unfold as they gave these people the generous donations being handed out by Neo-Queen Serenity.
