Akutagawa Ryuunosuke was a complete and utter insomniac. Obviously, sleeping in the same bed with his rival that he hates with all of his heart does not help.
According to Dazai, sleeping in the same bed can be used as a “bonding activity”, and it will help them to cooperate better as mission partners.
“You’ll live, suck it up.”
I may live but I most certainly won't get any sleep. Akutagawa is currently on an overnight mission with Chuuya, Dazai, and the weretiger. The mission would last two days, with the first half taking place late at night, and the second half happening the morning after.
Usually they wouldn’t stay at a hotel, but this mission was outside of Yokohama, and they had to make sure that they showed up for the second half of the mission on time.
Normally this wouldn't be that bad, but despite the fact that the Port Mafia could afford to rent out every hotel in the area, Dazai only booked one room. Akutagawa would never dream of questioning Dazai’s judgement, but this was pointless. Everybody could be sleeping comfortably by theirselves, but instead they had to share beds.
Not only did they have to share beds, it was split so that Chuuya and Dazai would be in one, and Atsushi and Akutagawa would be in the other. There was no reason for this. It could be split by organization. Or, if they still wanted to use absolutely no reasoning, Akutagawa could even share with Dazai.
Akutagawa continued to complain in his head before he was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when he heard light sobs. The first thing he saw was the weretiger crying.
Never in his twenty years of living did he think that he would sacrifice sleep just to comfort anyone other than his sister. Especially not some stupid weretiger.
I’m going to regret this, aren't I? He thinks before hesitantly wrapping his arms around the other man, while also trying to keep the rest of his body away from them. Though it calms the weretiger a bit, he’s not even close to being completely soothed.
Akutagawa sighs deeply before scooching up closer to the weretiger. He knows that this is a terrible decision, but right now his only goal is calming Atsushi down, he totally does not enjoy cuddling the weretiger.
The other man has stopped shaking by now, but Akutagawa can still hear his light sobs. He slowly moves his hand into the weretigers silver hair, running his fingers through it. He continues doing this for about 10 minutes, until the weretiger completely calms down.
Akutagawa moves his hand down from Atsushi’s hair, still cuddling him in fear that if he moves they will go back to their panicked state. He tries to fall asleep, deciding that he will face the consequences of his actions the next morning.
Ryuu’s stomach drops when the other starts to move, turns over to face him, and wraps his arms around him. Akutagawa lets out an endearing huff before falling asleep, cuddling his “rival.”
