“Was it hard?” Rand’s eyes suddenly looked ancient.
“What?”
They both knew she was buying time.
“To leave him behind.”
She had tried to tell Lan, her dream for him. He’d refused to listen. Not without her to share it.
He would never see his worth over hers.
It was said that the bond ensured an Aes Sedai‘s survival at the cost of her Warder’s life.
That was not entirely true.
She looked into the Blight and saw a nation rebuilt. A King crowned.
“You must live, my Gaidin.” She whispered.
He would not forgive. But maybe he would understand.
