It was close to midnight, Lumine needed to get back to Wangshin Inn as soon as possible. But she encountered the fatui on her trip back to the Inn. She was fighting them as usual til the fatui agent hit her hard on the side of her hip, Lumine grunted but ignored how severe the wound was. She continued to fight til she noticed her eyes starting to unfocus. She then called for someone.
“Xiao..” Lumine whispered.
Xiao promised Lumine that he will come whenever she needed help. But why didn’t he come this time? Lumine tried to call out his name again but got hit once again by the agent once again.
“XIAO!” Lumine screamed in pain.
Lumine knew that she was running out of time, she had no choice but start running towards the Inn. She was a few steps away from the Inn til her body finally gave up. Thump! She was on the floor out of breathe, eyes beginning to close. She muttered once again, “why didn’t you come..xiao…” lowly.
After the called out his name, xiao appeared.
“You call-“ Xiao stoped mid sentence to see traveler on the floor bleeding.
“Traveler!” Xiao dropped to his knee’s and picks Lumine up.
“Hey, hey! Traveler! Who did this to you?!” Xiao said with a shaky voice.
Lumine stared at xiao with water filled eyes. “Why didn’t you come the first time I called..?” Lumine stated.
“I’m sorry.. I-“ xiao said
“It’s okay..” Lumine said as her voice started to fade and her eyes slowly closing.
“Hey! No, no, no! Stay awake! I can get you healed!” Xiao said
Lumine closed her eyes as she drifted off to wonderland. Her body went light and pale. Xiao knew that she was gone already. His eyes filled with tears. He was filled with guilt and rage.
“It’s my fault. I promised that if she called out my name I would come..” Xiao stated.
