Work Text:

It was an ordinary school day aside from the fact that Gun woke up just a little early. He would have taken his usual route to school, but something inside him compelled him to take an alternative route. Sure, it was a bit longer, but hey, he had time. He left home earlier than usual, after all. The path took him through a quiet street lined with a few trees with much fresher air compared to the usual path he took to school, which was all polluted air and the deafening sound of nearby traffic. Gun couldn’t explain why, but it seemed to remind him of life in a smaller town out in the countryside despite the fact that he had never lived anywhere aside from the busy city of Bangkok.

He found his way to the nearest school gate. Unlike his usual entrance, which led straight to the classrooms, he’d now have to pass through the faculty parking lot, not that it was a big deal. It really was just a short walk. Gun probably wouldn’t even have remembered walking through here if it weren’t for the fact that he saw him - one of his classmates. A bit taller than him and on the skinnier side with round nerdy glasses. Tinn.

Something instantly clicked in him. Suddenly the country life he seemed to remember earlier felt even more real. And Tinn… no, Heart was right there with him. First kisses to welcome the New Year, getting soaked after an afternoon spent horsing around with a hose in the garden, waking up next to each other in the gentle morning light and instinctively playing with each other’s hands while their eyes were locked on to each other. The visions were gone just as quickly as they had come, leaving Gun with the frustrating feeling that he just woke up from a dream that he couldn’t quite remember.

As he snapped back into reality, all he knew was that for some reason, there was something special about that Tinn boy. They barely even knew each other, but Gun now somehow felt himself drawn to him. He watched as the boy waved goodbye to his mother as she headed for the faculty building.

“Enjoy your day, Tinn! Happy birthday again!” Gun heard his mom call out.

It was Tinn’s birthday. And little did Gun know they’d meet again later that day when a twist of fate brings Tinn to the dessert shop run by Gun’s mom. And Gun wouldn’t know why, but he’d find himself compelled to give Tinn complementary shaved ice as a gift.
