Chapter Text

Sesshomaru Taisho had the perfect life; he was a millionaire and successful. He couldn't ask for anything more from life because, despite his cold and distant personality, he managed to find love in his childhood best friend, Sara.

They have known each other practically since they were born, and what in childhood was a cute friendship, in their teenage years,  became a romantic relationship organically and naturally.

They complemented each other perfectly; he was calm, handsome, and elegant; she was beautiful, refined, and sophisticated.

They were the perfect couple and loved each other intensely.

By this point in life, Sara had become all Sesshomaru had. His parents divorced when he was a child, and he was left in his father's care as his mother decided to travel the world attending to her international business. Despite Sesshomaru's protests, his father soon remarried and had another child with this other woman. Sesshomaru felt displaced by his family. He could only count on Sara, who became his superior support when his father died a few years later while Sesshomaru was studying his first years at university.

After dividing the inheritance, Sesshomaru cut all ties with his family, focusing only on his work and his girlfriend, now fiancée, with whom he would spend the rest of his life.

But life takes unexpected turns and can take everything away at a moment's notice.

Sesshomaru was a fan of racing cars; his passion was to compete and be the best, and he loved the adrenaline a good competition generated.

Unfortunately, a few months before his wedding to Sara was to take place, the car he was racing overturned, leaving him in a terrible state.

Sara stayed by his side during his recovery, Sesshomaru was in a coma for a while, but gradually, he recovered almost entirely, except for his sight, which he lost completely. The doctors assured him that he would never see anything again, which devastated him, but at least he still had his fiancée by his side, and the wedding would take place in a few months.

Sara's visits became increasingly rare, always making silly excuses and empty promises that she would soon see him again.

One day, she disappeared, leaving a simple note letting Sesshomaru know she could not share her life with a blind man.

I don't love you enough to spend the rest of my life caring for you; please forgive me.

The note said.

Sesshomaru pretended he was not affected by his fiancée's abandonment and decided to move on to prove to everyone that even with his disability, he could take care of the family business.

But even though his job performance did not diminish, the board members were more than ready to remove him from the presidency and took advantage of his blindness to remove him from his position.

“We don't doubt your abilities, Mr. Taisho, but we can't take such a risk with a blind CEO," the board chairman told him.

Sesshomaru became so enraged that he destroyed his home office by locking himself up, drinking like mad for days, and to the despair of his loyal servants, he would not let anyone in even to clean up the mess he had made.

Darkness loomed over Sesshomaru's life. Every day he was finding it harder and harder to find a reason to live.

In this way, he decided one day to ask Jaken to take him to the bridge where he proposed to Sara.

Jaken followed him with concern as his master's gaze seemed utterly lost, and he feared that the young man would commit folly.

“Jaken," he said sternly, "You'd better get out of here if you don't want me to throw you off the bridge," he threatened.

Jaken then decided to move away a bit, but not far enough to lose sight of him, to which Sesshomaru even more sternly ordered him to return to the mansion.

“But, my lord, how are you going to return?” he asked worriedly.

“That's none of your business," he shouted at him as he threw a rock that hit him with such precision that it made him doubt whether his master was blind.

When he was finally alone, Sesshomaru approached the edge of the bridge, let the river breeze caress his pale skin, tossed his staff into the river, and waited a moment for it to rattle as it made contact with the water.

Just as he thought, it was a long fall, but he didn't care; he only wanted to end his suffering.

In the surroundings of that bridge, a young angel in training was carrying out one of her missions.

Rin was a little angel in training who was in charge of caring for the animals. Her missions consisted mainly of saving animals from imminent danger and accompanying the deceased to the afterlife. Unlike other angels of her level, Rin was forbidden to interact with humans since, despite having a warm heart willing to help, she often intervened when it was not her place to do so, and other times, her methods of helping those in need were a bit drastic like when she crashed a truck full of smuggled birds or stole a mistreated dog directly from its owner.

She was constantly scolded by her superior, the archangel Kaede, and by her best friend Kohaku, who was always concerned about the welfare of his naughty little friend.

“You're too impulsive, Rin. You're not ready to go alone on missions yet," Kaede chided her.

“But archangel Kaede, those little dogs were suffering too much in that place, and I had to do something to save them," defended the little angel with a slight pout.

“But starting a riot and making everyone escape from the shelter was not the best solution," Kaede scolded her, "From now on, you will do all your missions under Kohaku's supervision," said the archangel since that was the straw that broke the camel's back. She had to put a stop to Rin's rebelliousness.

Since then,  Kohaku has always accompanied her on her missions. But recently, the elders had decided to give her a chance to prove that she could perform independently. After all, she would soon finish her training and ascend to paradise to directly serve the divinity in person.

This was one of her last missions before her promotion.

She had to save a kitten abandoned by the river bank from drowning. It was an easy mission, and she even ensured that the kitten would be found by a charitable soul passing by who decided to adopt it and care for the little animal.

Rin was satisfied with another well-done job when at the edge of the bridge over the river, she noticed a human man, handsome, with his gaze lost in nothingness. The wind caressed his long platinum hair. It was apparent what he was trying to do, but he was a human, and Rin was utterly forbidden to intervene in his affairs.

Rin stared at him as she debated whether or not to intervene.

She should have just turned around and gone on her way, but she could feel the burden that man's heart carried.

She could not endure seeing him so miserable.

Spreading her wings, she soared up to reach the man at the edge of the bridge.

She flew before him, and his empty gaze, full of pain, touched her soul.

“You have suffered enough, my little one," she whispered with compassion, "but you are valuable even if you don't feel that way now.

“You deserve to love and be loved, to enjoy the small pleasures of life, the presence of your loved ones, the fresh morning breeze, the smell of a good coffee, and to help others in need.” She saw at that moment how the man's countenance calmed down and seemed to be at peace.

“May your strength not be limited because the divinity loves you and is always with you.”

Sesshomaru closed his eyes; at that moment, he only felt peace in his heart. Suddenly he felt that he was recovering little by little the will to live. A cool breeze surrounded him.

Rin took advantage of that instant to leave a gift for that poor human, so she kissed each of his closed eyelids. They were warm and sweet kisses.

Sesshomaru felt strange and opened his eyes, only to discover that he could now see. His vision was clear and more precise than ever. And the most beautiful being he had ever seen standing before him. He observed her. She looked like a young woman of about eighteen, with brown hair, chocolate eyes, long eyelashes bent upwards, and an utterly angelic appearance. He momentarily lost himself in that beautiful face and completely ignored the girl's wings. He blinked to ensure that what he saw was real, but when he opened his eyes again, he found himself completely alone.

Still in shock, Sesshomaru stepped off the edge of the bridge in confusion and walked back to the road. Surprisingly, Jaken had returned and was very worried about his master.

The servant almost fainted when he noticed Sesshomaru had no staff with him and screamed in horror.

Sesshomaru gave Jaken a look that chilled his soul; it seemed his master could see him.

“Silence, Jaken, take me to the company,” he ordered before taking one last look around in search of the beautiful angel he saw earlier, to no avail. He got in the car with a sense of disappointment sinking in his heart.

A light surrounded Rin after she restored that human's sight and teleported her in front of the council of angels.

It was a huge white hall. To her right and left, endless rows of seats stretched out, where her fellow apprentices were seated, her best friend Kohaku watching her from his place with a worried look.

In front of her was a platform where the elderly council members stood, with their long robes and enormous wings. Among them was the archangel Kaede, who had a mixed expression of concern and disappointment.

Rin felt an emptiness in her stomach as she crossed her gaze with her mentor's, so she averted her eyes to look at the other elders.

The other elders looked really annoyed, especially Elder Ungai, who looked sternly and disapprovingly at her.

“Angel in training number 1939229”  called her the voice of Ungai.

“You broke the only order you were given and interfered in the lives of humans," he scolded her.

“I had to do it. The man was about to die," Rin defended herself.

"Silence, angel 1939229. You are not allowed to speak until we ask you to," interrupted the old man.

"As I was saying, you intervened in the path of a human whose destiny was to die when you had been given the express order not to have contact with any being of that species; you are too dangerous and irresponsible, an angel like you does not deserve to serve the divinity.

Rin felt shame and anger at the elder's words; after all, all she did was carry out the divinity's professed teachings of love and mercy. She wanted to defend herself, but she knew that would only put her at a disadvantage.

“From the beginning, you have yet to cause problems. You are undisciplined, impulsive, do not respect authority, and pass over easily. Today you interfered with destiny, so the council must revoke your wings.

Rin's eyes widened; what that older man said could not be true. The wing revocation sentence is reserved for angels who have committed treason to the divinity. It was an excruciating and humiliating process.

“Wait a minute Ungai; we never talked about this. It seems this punishment is too severe for Rin," Kaede interjected.

“Silence, archangel Kaede, you were not informed about the punishment of the angel in training 1939229 because it is well known that you have a weakness for that being. All this could have been avoided if you had set limits from the beginning," replied Ungai.

Kaede frowned and cast a glance at the other council members.

“So you also agree with this severe punishment for this innocent angel?” she asked, disappointed.

The other council members nodded, avoiding the archangel's gaze.

“The decision has been made, and there is nothing you can do to avoid it, archangel," intervened Ungai again, turning his stern gaze to Rin; raising his right hand, he made a sword appear in his hand. He spread its wings and went direct to the little angel.

Rin's face was one of total panic, and the archangel Kaede was restrained by some guardian angels of the court so that she could not intervene.

From his seat, Kohaku watched with helplessness and horror the terrible pain about to be inflicted on his best friend.

With his sharp sword, Ungai quickly tore off Rin's tender wings, which disappeared in a beam of light, leaving behind hideous scars on the girl's back and a piercing scream from both the physical and psychological pain she had just suffered.

Kohaku watched the scene with tears in his eyes. He only wanted to fly to his friend and comfort her. But he couldn’t do anything since all the angels in training were tied to their sits, so they could contemplate the horror that had just happened without being able to intervene.

Rin's piercing cries echoed around the silent room.

Under Ungai's cold gaze, the young woman writhed in pain, but he did not even flinch. Instead, he merely snapped his fingers, and the room around her disappeared, and she found herself in a dirty alley in the human streets.

Sore, hungry, and cold, not knowing where to go, she slowly dropped to the dirty floor.

Officially, she was a fallen angel.
